Chapter 558: *Time to let go*

Phil was happy to see Dilan like that, and he asked him as he stood up and held out his hand to help him up, "There are other purple dungeons of this level not too far from this one. Do you want to do another one, or is this one enough for today?"

Dilan accepted his hand, and after standing up, he said, "If you’re sure about their level, then I’m willing to do another one with you. But if you want us to do this during our evenings, I’m going to need more legendary-grade healing potions and maybe a better weapon too."

Phil nodded and then conjured up a sword identical to his own. The blade was made of Corium and had been impregnated with black particles, and as he handed it to Dilan, he told him, "Use this one for tonight; it’s much more powerful than your current sword. But if using a weapon impregnated with black particles makes you uncomfortable, you can always ask your son-in-law for a new weapon. After all, Caleb must have an impressive collection of weapons; I’m sure he will definitely have one that you like."

Dilan was really curious about how it felt to hold such a deadly weapon, so he took the sword Phil was handing him and was surprised by the power it gave off. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

He immediately felt all his Stats increase significantly, and the sword itself was light and easy to handle, so he told Phil with a beaming smile, "This sword will do just fine; no need to bother Caleb. He has more important things to take care of."

When he saw Phil frowning, he asked him, "Or maybe you need your sword back... If that’s the case, then..."

But Phil suddenly put two fingers on his lips, silencing him before telling him, "Of course you can keep it if you like it, but don’t say that Caleb has things more important to do. You are his family now; he will feel hurt if you say something like that... I’m sure he will be more than happy to give you a weapon."

Phil then added, while caressing Dilan’s lower lip with his thumb, "And I don’t like it when you always think that other people have better things to do. Why can’t you see how happy they will be to share your burden or help you out?"

Dilan felt his heart racing, and it wasn’t because of the fatigue from his last fights. It was because Phil had just said what he had always dreamed of hearing.

After losing his wife, no one had been able to catch his interest, but Phil was different and kind of direct.

Even if he didn’t say it, Dilan could see that he was serious with him, so maybe it was time to let go and see if it could work between them... He then said, when Phil finally removed his hand, "I will keep that in mind, but your sword is already so powerful; I don’t think I need another one..."

Phil just nodded, still looking at his lips, and so Dilan said, before forgetting why they were there, "Let’s continue then. Even though I don’t need to sleep much, I still need to rest, and we’ll need another 2 or 3 hours to loot another dungeon."

Phil then regained his senses and cleared his throat before motioning for Dilan to follow him. He said, while leading them to the dungeon boss room, "Don’t worry, Dilan. If you get too tired before the other dungeon is over, we can always leave before we finish it. Don’t forget that there is no obligation to finish it, unlike the red dungeon, where once inside, the only way to get out is to kill all the creatures inside. You should hear the Warrior Spirits talk about it; they too love to loot dungeons, and they even make bets on what kind of creatures they will face in the next one."

Dilan smiled and said to him, "I guess it isn’t easy for them to find opponents strong enough to fight them, so of course, looting these dungeons has to be exciting for them. After all, the Warrior Spirits came into existence so they could fight the Gods when the Priests, except for Miguel, had all been killed."

Phil nodded. Since he and Blaise had decided to put themselves at Ian’s service, who was, for him, unquestionably the future King of the Drakonits, even if Ian didn’t seem to want this title at all, he had learned a lot of things he didn’t know about the Warrior Spirits, and he really respected them for what they were.

They weren’t interested in money or power; all they wanted to do was protect those who couldn’t do it on their own and make sure everyone lived in peace in their worlds.

Phil and Dilan continued to talk, enjoying their time together until they reached the boss room of the dungeon.

As agreed, Phil let Dilan deliver the coup de grâce to all the creatures in this room so that he could gain a maximum of experience points.

After cleaning the room, they left this dungeon, and Phil led them to another one that had an equivalent level. This time, it was a purple dungeon filled with insects that could use the earth element. There were ants, earthworms, slugs, snakes, beetles, and all of them were over two meters high.

It was Dilan’s first time fighting these creatures, but since Phil was there to watch over him, everything went well.

Phil was quite happy to have stumbled upon these creatures because he was able to teach Dilan how to use the black particles that his sword contained.

Since Dilan could use it at will, as long as he had enough chakra, of course, he taught him how to create a shield to counter the earth spells coming at him, and he showed him how to create small black arrows that he could throw at these creatures. After a few tries, he could throw them up to 50 meters around him.
