Chapter 371: Sol Vs Lazarus [1]

Boom!

A deafening shockwave rolled across Gildreach Vault as space itself distorted high above the city. A second figure stepped into existence opposite Sol, suspended upon the wind with flowing golden hair dancing behind him. His long fur lined golden trench coat rippled gently despite the violent pressure filling the heavens while his weary golden eyes burned with restrained fury. The moment countless demons recognized the newcomer, hope erupted throughout the streets below.

"It’s Lord Lazarus!"

The cry spread from one district to another until it became a deafening chorus. Countless demons raised their heads toward the sky, their despair giving way to excitement. Moments earlier they had been convinced the city would be reduced to ashes beneath Sol’s madness. Now their ruler had appeared personally. Whether they believed he could truly defeat the tyrant or not hardly mattered. At least someone had finally stepped forward to confront him.

Lazarus paid no attention to the cheers below. His empty gaze remained locked on Sol alone while the atmosphere between them steadily grew heavier.

"What do you want?"

His voice carried effortlessly across the city, calm on the surface yet hiding a fury that everyone present could feel.

Sol remained completely unmoved. His expression did not change in the slightest. He neither mocked nor smiled. There was only quiet certainty in his eyes as he slowly stretched one hand toward Lazarus.

"The little fox that dared drag a human life into his ploys. Give me his head and I’ll leave without a fuss."

Buzz!

For a brief moment Lazarus simply stared at him. Surprise flashed across his face before disappearing beneath an unmistakable expression of rage.

"What did you just say?"

His voice became noticeably colder.

"Did I stutter?"

Sol answered without hesitation.

So had long already heard reports about Hagrid’s failure, but not every detail surrounding the mission. Learning now that Hagrid had involved an ordinary human woman left even him visibly displeased.

Demons had their own politics, their own rivalries and endless schemes, but dragging an uninvolved mortal into the conflict crossed a line. Lazarus could understand the reason behind his rage, however , that did not mean he would allow Sol to dictate terms within his own territory.

"The Prince of Lust has several women with far deeper relationships with him. But of all of them, that swine decided the best target was a defenseless human woman who had already parted ways with the prince." Sol’s golden eyes remained emotionless as he spoke. He extended his hand once again, his fingers opening patiently. "The little fox. Give me his head or must I take it myself?"

Silence swept across the city.

Every eye shifted toward Lazarus. The demand was outrageous. If he surrendered Hagrid now, before his own people, every ounce of authority he possessed would crumble instantly. A ruler incapable of protecting his own subordinate inside his own territory would never become Demon Lord. Even those loyal to him today would eventually abandon him.

His fists slowly clenched.

"I refuse."

His declaration echoed throughout the valley with unmistakable finality.

The city collectively held its breath.

Demons looked toward Sol, waiting for the inevitable retaliation. Throughout countless generations they had witnessed demons erased simply because they opposed the Sin of Pride. The expectation of catastrophe settled over every heart.

Huff!

Sol slowly closed his eyes and released a long breath. He inhaled deeply before opening them once more.

"Very well then."

A faint smile spread across his face.

Buzz!

Golden flames suddenly ignited in the empty air behind him. They expanded outward before condensing into an enormous platform forged entirely from radiant sunlight. At its center rested a magnificent golden throne whose brilliance rivaled the heavens themselves. Curled peacefully upon the platform was Leo, the enormous golden lion sleeping as though nothing occurring around him deserved his attention.

Without haste Sol walked toward the throne and sat down elegantly. His fingers gently combed through Leo’s thick mane, earning nothing more than a lazy flick of the lion’s ear. Only then did Sol raise his gaze toward Lazarus once again.

"Be Gone."

He casually waved one hand.

Booom!

No beam of light appeared.

No visible attack emerged.

Lazarus simply vanished from his original position before reappearing hundreds of meters away, hurtling through the sky like a cannonball. Buildings blurred past him as violent winds exploded around his body, carrying him uncontrollably toward the far edge of the city.

Gasps erupted below. Many demons had not even perceived an attack.

Sol ignored the spectacle entirely. His attention shifted toward the colossal palace dominating the heart of Gildreach Vault.

"Hagrid, come to me."

His voice spread across every district with irresistible authority.

Krasssh!

Only seconds later one of the palace’s enormous stained glass windows exploded outward. Hagrid burst through it helplessly, his body still wrapped in fresh bandages from his battle with Damian. Rage, humiliation and unmistakable terror were written across his face as he fought desperately against his own body dragging him through the air.

No matter how fiercely he resisted, his body continued flying directly toward Sol.

This was one of the supreme authorities belonging to the Sin of Pride.

Dominion.

The words of Pride became absolute law. Those beneath that authority found their bodies obeying commands regardless of personal will.

"SOL!!!!!!! YOU ARE COURTING DEATH!"

Lazarus’ furious roar shook the heavens.

"GOLD AUTHORITY: ARM OF GOD!"

BUZZZ!

Across every district of Gildreach Vault, rivers of molten gold erupted skyward like volcanic pillars. Gold poured from towers, vaults, bridges and marketplaces before converging into a single unimaginable construct above the city. Layer upon layer of liquid gold compressed together until they formed a colossal arm so vast that its shadow swallowed Gildreach Vault whole.

The sheer movement of the construct generated hurricanes powerful enough to send entire airships tumbling through the sky. Windows shattered by the thousands while countless demons dropped to one knee beneath the overwhelming pressure.

Just as Hagrid’s unwilling flight brought him within reach of Sol, another hand gently rested upon his shoulder. The invisible force vanished instantly.

Hagrid turned sharply.

Standing beside him was Lazarus. His expression no longer contained even the slightest trace of laziness. Golden light pulsed beneath his skin while his eyes blazed with unconcealed murderous intent.

Despite the gigantic golden arm continuing to rise beneath them, Sol’s expression never changed.

"You are going to fight God?"

He raised an eyebrow as though asking an innocent question.

Those words only deepened the hatred burning inside Lazarus.

"Do you think you are the only God?!"

Buzz!

The colossal golden arm accelerated upward. Every movement distorted the surrounding air, creating pressure waves that rippled across the heavens. It was so enormous that even wyverns flying thousands of meters away instinctively altered their course rather than approach it.

Hmph!

Sol snorted disdainfully.

"Of course I’m the only true God. Every other god is a false god."

"Authority: Child Of Light!"

Buzz!

The crimson heavens split apart.

The clouds tore open across thousands of kilometers as though sliced by an invisible blade. Beyond them emerged an unimaginably vast sun whose brilliance instantly overwhelmed every other source of light. It descended majestically from the heavens while the colossal golden arm surged upward to meet it.

Their mere approach toward one another caused reality itself to groan beneath the strain.

"Your madness has gone on for too long! I will bury you here in my City of Gold!"

Lazarus’ voice thundered throughout the world.

Sol merely smiled wider, his fingers still absentmindedly stroking Leo’s mane.

"Is that so?"
