Chapter 49: Zombie Hunting
Their approaches were far more violent than Joo Joowon’s own methods for opening doors.
The sixth floor currently did not contain any living people.
However, because of the commotion happening upstairs, the zombies on the sixth floor had also become somewhat restless.
From time to time, low roars echoed through the hallways.
Still, they showed no signs of trying to crash through the doors themselves.
Perhaps the distance remained too far away.
As "wild monsters," these zombies seemed to possess certain detection ranges.
If sounds originated too far away, then even if they heard them, they would not completely lose control.
They merely became somewhat agitated.
Joo Joowon stopped briefly in front of every apartment door while silently thinking things through.
This Sixth Sense talent seemed to judge danger levels based on his own current combat strength.
If only a single zombie existed inside a room, then he merely felt a faint sense of danger inside his heart.
The feeling was not particularly intense.
However, if two zombies were inside, then his brain would immediately receive a slight but noticeable stabbing sensation.
The apartment layouts throughout the residential complex were mostly similar.
Generally, they were all two bedroom apartments with a living room.
Occasionally, however, certain units squeezed in three or four residents together, with even the living room being remodeled into additional sleeping space by landlords.
Fortunately, nothing like that seemed to exist on this floor.
After gaining a rough understanding of every apartment’s situation, Joo Joowon removed Sixth Sense and equipped Mind’s Eye instead.
Strictly speaking, the one meter visual range surrounding him was actually not particularly large.
In terms of practical usefulness, it could not fully compare to Sixth Sense.
After all, Sixth Sense would not wait until danger was already directly in front of him before providing warnings.
However, the greatest advantage of Mind’s Eye was that it granted him a complete three hundred and sixty degree field of vision without any blind spots.
It even allowed him to see directly through walls into nearby rooms.
Joo Joowon needed to adapt himself to this type of vision.
For someone fighting alone, possessing a "third eye" behind his head was simply too effective.
It could help him avoid countless hidden dangers.
Ultimately, every talent possessed its own unique strengths.
Everything depended on personal choices and priorities.
Although Mind’s Eye allowed him to oversee the entire surrounding area, he still needed to personally judge whether situations were dangerous or not.
Meanwhile, although Sixth Sense could detect hidden threats like the strange rainwater earlier, its usefulness during direct combat was still inferior to Mind’s Eye.
The warning method of Sixth Sense remained far too vague.
It merely transmitted feelings of danger into the body itself.
If someone launched a sneak attack, the talent could warn him danger existed, yet it provided no indication regarding which direction the threat originated from.
After equipping Mind’s Eye, Joo Joowon no longer needed to perform the same troublesome probing methods as before.
Open the door.
Raise the shield.
Fire.
The entire sequence flowed together in one continuous motion without the slightest pause.
Thanks to repeatedly hunting zombies over and over again, his movements gradually became increasingly effortless and smooth, like flowing water.
By the end of the morning, Joo Joowon had successfully cleared the entire sixth floor.
Altogether, this floor provided him with seven experience points, two copper coins, and one piece of equipment.
The equipment was Beginner Lower Garments, which granted one point of Strength.
Compared to yesterday, the rewards were noticeably better.
Joo Joowon glanced toward his attribute panel.

Joo Joowon could not help pursing his lips slightly.
The experience points provided by level one zombies were simply too little.
On top of that, other players were also competing for the same experience.
Judging from today’s gains after clearing one entire floor, he would probably need to clear at least another four or five floors before leveling up once more.
However, the experience required after every level increased exponentially.
Even though killing low level zombies carried no experience penalty, continuing like this meant that even clearing an entire apartment building might not necessarily allow him to successfully reach level ten.
Unfortunately, there was nothing Joo Joowon could really do about it.
Rain was still falling outside now.
Even the possibility of venturing farther away for riskier exploration had disappeared.
At this point, he could only take things one step at a time.
There was still one apartment on the sixth floor containing living people.
While deliberately knocking on the door earlier, Joo Joowon had already seen them through Mind’s Eye.
It was a mother and daughter.
Clearly, they had not stepped outside even once since the apocalypse began.
From their appearance, Joo Joowon could not detect even the slightest sign that they had ever killed zombies before.
He did not know what the mother was thinking.
However, he understood very clearly that if she failed to change her mindset soon, then even if both mother and daughter somehow survived, their lives would probably become worse than death itself.
During ancient famines, tragedies involving cannibalism had occurred countless times.
Joo Joowon did not believe such things were absent now.
In chaotic times, if someone wished to survive, then either they needed strength, or they would end up either selling their body or selling their soul just to continue living miserably.
None of those choices could truly be considered good outcomes.
Still, Joo Joowon had no intention of saying anything to the mother and daughter.
They were both adults.
They should already understand what they needed to do.
If he spoke carelessly, perhaps they would instead suspect him of harboring malicious intentions.
