Chapter 84: BREAKING POINT
"You can’t do anything about it", Adam answered and continued eating his meal without bothering with Felicia anymore.
Mary felt pity for Felicia so she tried to coax Adam,
"They have been married for such a long time now, it will be hard on Felicia if you separate the both of them. And now you are going to make Adrian remarry her enemy? That is too much".
"I don’t care", Adam simply replied.
From the tone of his voice, he wouldn’t like to continue the conversation so Mary dropped the topic. He suddenly brought out an invitation card and placed it on the table. "The company has been nominated for the more profitable company of the year so we will head to the award show", he announced and everyone nodded in unison.
Felicia gritted her teeth as she clenched her fists in anger. She wanted to run insane. She turned to Adrain.
"Adrain, you won’t leave me right? You won’t listen to what your father is saying right?" She questioned as she held his hands dearly. "You love me and you won’t leave me right?" She asked again when Adrian didn’t respond to her.
"Am sorry Felicia but I have to do this for the company, it’s dying". Adrain gave the excuse. He was very much on board with the plan his father had just come up with. Erika was his and he was going to take her back from Ethan, he thought to himself. But he had forgotten that he called Erika names on their last encounter and also, she has changed.
Felicia felt as if her heart had just dropped in her stomach. She stared at Adrain in astonishment as he continued to avoid her eye contact.
"What did you say?" She asked him.
Adrain finally looked at her only to meet her tear stricken face. "We will get a divorce if you are not able to conceive in the next three months", he replied and stood up ready to leave.
Felicia stood frozen, unable to move. Mary came to her aid and brought her back to her seat. "Don’t worry dear, everything will be alright".
Her fears have come to pass, Felicia thought to herself. This was exactly what she feared would happen if she didn’t conceive soon but she had not expected Erika to also be involved in the topic. Just as she had thought when she received the news that she was infertile, Adam will push Adrain into divorcing her but she had never imagined that he would want him to remarry Erika.
"This was exactly what I was telling you, you have to get pregnant for Adrain to tie him down with you", Mary reminded as she patted her softly.
Feeling totally ruined, Felicia didn’t want to give up yet. If she was going down, she would have to drag Erika along with her. The idea that Mary gave her about ruining Erika’s image so that Adrain would hate resurfaced.
They want Adrain to remarry Erika? Let’s see if they would want her again after she is ruined, she thought to herself.
"Yes, mother I will try my best", she sniffed back her tears and gave a smile to Mary which shocked the old woman. She thought that it would be hard to pacify Felicia but she became calm quite easily.
Adam didn’t care if she tried her best or not, his main goal was for Erika to come back to the family and with her resources she would strengthen their company.
"Where is butler David?" Adam asked, noticing that butler David was not among the servants who served them their dinner.
Mary shook her head, "I have no idea. I have not seen him since yesterday", she replied also thinking about his whereabouts. It was odd for the butler to leave and not come back without telling them first. He must be with Erika, marry thought to herself.
"What? Since yesterday? And he has not called you?" Adam questioned Mary.
"Not yet but am sure he will come back, maybe he went to visit someone. He has been going out lately", she answered.
"He had better", said Adam as he used the napkin to clean his mouth. He stood up and glared at Felicia who was also staring him. He didn’t bother to say anything to her and left.
Adrian was in his car, thinking about what his father suggested. He never thought that his dad could ever think of remarrying him and Erika. He was mostly happy because he had made up his mind to take Erika back and also Ethan didn’t deserve her. He believed that he knew Erika better that Ethan does and they should be together.
He had been comparing Felicia and Erika’s attitude and they both of them were totally different. He found Felicia hot and seductive but he found Erika to be gentle and cute which was totally not his type of girl but recently he had been fantasizing about her.
Adrian was not sure if Erika was still head over heels for him or not. Or maybe she was pretending, he thought to himself.
The little reason he was not sure of taking Erika back was because she had been tainted and touched by another man. He remembered that he had never touched or even kissed her before because he felt disgusted by her. Her every movement and every word that came out of her mouth disgusted him but now he has found himself wanting her back.
Adrain still believed that she was a slut but he would be the one to tame her, he thought again to himself again.
But the problem would be Ethan, what if his relationship with Erika was strong and he wouldn’t let go of Erika so easily? He couldn’t afford to offend Ethan because it he did, then the little string of hope that he had for the company to recover would be destroyed. Ethan would get rid of him.
Feeling bold and confident that Erika would definitely come back to him if he went to her, he threw away those negative thoughts. Besides she had loved him for such a long time and couldn’t possibly have forgotten about him. But what Adrain forgot was that everyone has a breaking point.
