Chapter 83: ARGUMENT AT FAMILY DINNER
"Answer me!" Adam demanded an answer as glared at Felicia intently.
"Dad.... I really don’t know how she was able to do that but am telling you, her wealthy personality is not clean", Felicia stated.
"Ethan is in the same class as the Walters so he probably asked them to give her the company or something."
"Can you hear yourself?" Adam asked her a little louder this time as he stared at her as she continued to spout nonsense. Felicia shrank back on her chair and didn’t speak anymore. "Are you that dump to think like that?" He insulted.
Felicia shivered as the temperature of the dining room suddenly turned cold.
"Dad, please don’t talk to my wife like that", Adrain intervened but a glare from Adam shushed him up also.
"You shut up!! You married this thing you call a wife who has brought nothing but trouble to us!" Adam barked, not holding himself anymore. "Ever since you married her, it has always been from problem to the other".
Mary and Juliet gasped in shock when they heard Adam’s words but they kept quiet. This was a father, son and daughter in law issue and they wouldn’t want to get involved in it.
"The company is not as resourceful as it was anymore due to your foolish wife’s act that created a scandal and most importantly, she has not gotten pregnant to give an heir yet, she is totally useless". If it was still 3 years ago when the Evans family were a little more wealthier than the Hart, Adam wouldn’t have dared to insult Felicia like this but since they were now bigger than the Evans, he became more brazen with his words.
Adrain turned speechless, he knew all what his dad said was true but he wouldn’t let him insult his wife in front of me and he would keep quiet about it.
"f it’s the company you are worried about, am doing my best to regain all our resources. And if you are asking for an heir, Felicia and I are both trying", he quickly defended.
"Did you say trying? You have been trying for a whole 2 years, are you sure she isn’t barren?" Adam questioned with a suspicious look directed at Felicia.
All hairs on Felicia’s body stood on their ends. She swallowed her saliva as she shifted her body to balance on the chair more properly because she felt as if she was about to fall. Her heart skipped so many beats thinking that Adam had found out about her infertility problem.
"She is not infertile!" Adrain yelled at his father with anger.
Mary sensed the bigger argument that could occur between the father and son if she doesn’t interfere.
"Adrain, don’t talk to your father like that". She patted her husband’s shoulders as if trying to pacify his anger.
"You have to make sure you do everything possible so that you can sign a contract with the Walters", Adam declared without sparing anyone a look which shocked the people at the table especially Felicia. She didn’t want Adrain to have anything to do with Erika but now Adam is suggesting exactly what she didn’t want to happen.
"But dad, he will only be involved with that woman again", Said Felicia.
"You’d better shut up! Look, am giving you only 3 months to get pregnant and if you are not before that time, I will have Adrain divorce you and marry Erika instead. She has more potential that you anyway", Adam spat out in anger which had everyone widen their eyes in surprise.
They had never expected Adam to say something like that or even come up with such an idea. He had never spared Erika any face when she was still living at the mansion, he never conversed with her nor did he even mention her name because she was a nobody but now that she had grown big, he wanted Adrain to remarry her?
"Dad, what are you saying?" Juliet asked this time.
"What am saying is, Adrain will have to get back together with Erika again to help revive the company if things don’t get better"Adam replied but instead it sounded more like an announcement for everyone to hear.
"That is not possible, Erika is with Ethan", Mary didn’t want to have anything to do with Erika but she would like to have her back at the mansion to do the household chores again like she did in the past. They are short on servants anyway and Erika would be of great help but she doubted that Ethan would let her go just like that. She had no clue how strong their relationship was, if it was real or not but she did sense that Erika might not be a play toy for Ethan.
"I don’t care if she is with him or not", he remarked without caring about anyone’s thoughts on the matter, even Adrain’s. He faced his son and said, "You had better work hard with Felicia to produce a son or else I will make sure you are married to Erika again".
Felicia was fuming mad. She hated Erika even more than she already did after hearing what Adam repeated and the worst part is that Adrain was not declining his father at all. He was just quiet.
She faced Adrain but he avoided her eye contact.
"But what about me dad? Am the one that Adrain loves. He can’t marry that slut", she demanded as she teared up. She wouldn’t let Erika be at peace after this dinner was over.
"Love? I don’t care if he loves you or not but I want my company to survive what your stupid acts caused, do you understand me?" Adam demanded without caring anymore about what she wanted. "Erika is rich now and that is the kind of daughter-in-law I want, I don’t care what happens to you or you marriage" he said without an ounce of shame or remorse.
Feeling her blood boil, Felicia abruptly stood up from her chair as she shook her head.
"I will never let that happen, Adrain is mine and I will never let him get back together with that whore", she declared.
