Chapter 81: MAKE HER PAY
Erika was shocked when she heard what butler David had just said. In Mary’s save? But when did she have a save? She asked herself.
"And that is not all, she used the late matriarch’s date of death as the password of the save", Butler David added.
Erika was now more flabbergasted with this new information. This confirmed her doubt, it was indeed Mary who killed grandma Elizabeth. She stood up and rushed to go take her car key but Ethan stopped her.
"Where are you going?" Ethan asked.
"Am going to teach that woman a lesson. Does she not have any conscience to kill a woman who is like a mother to her just for property? She needs to pay for what she has done", Erika complained as tears rolled down from her eyes. She saw red and the only way she could calm down was by making sure that Mary pays for her crime.
"I assure you she will pay for what she did but we still need to have evidence. So we are going to take this to Michael to analyze them", Ethan tried to comfort her but she wasn’t willing. The only woman who cared for her in the mansion was no more because she was killed by her heartless, greedy daughter in law.
"I am going to make her pay", she announced. Her mind was engulfed by rage and would only be satisfied if Mary is behind bars.
"We will", Ethan answered as he hugged her.
Butler David saw the love and affection that Ethan had just displayed and he smiled in contentment. This was something that Erika was never able to experience when she was married to Adrain but now, this young man seems to understand her and also know how to comfort her, he thought to himself.
After everyone calmed down, Ethan called Michael that they had everything that he needed to examine and he made a free day at work so that he would have time to analyze the substance.
They flew to New York the next day because Erika couldn’t sleep the whole night. They directly drove to Michael’s hospital when their plane landed. With all these traveling that they had been doing, Erika wanted to stay in New York once and for all but then she would need to look for someone trust worthy to take her place at the company.
"These are all the things that butler David found", Erika gave the bag to Michael who took it immediately. He opened it and he eyes widened in surprise when he saw the bottle that was also among the things inside.
"Was this also found at the Harts mansion?" He asked in astonishment.
"Yes it was", Ethan replied.
Michael became even more surprised, he called in a nurse to take the bag and follow them to the lab. "Let’s go the lab now shall we?" The couple got up and followed behind him. Erika has not been in a good mood for too much talk since yesterday but Ethan still tried to talk to her.
"How are you doing?" He gently asked.
"I feel like killing her", she genuinely replied and it made Ethan chuckle softly.
"I can help you with that if you want," he offered which made Erika look at him warily.
Michael opened the door to the lab and a room with white walls and bright lights welcomed them. Erika had to bat her eyes a few times to adjust to the brightness.
"Why is this place so bright?" She mumbled.
"It’s not that bright but it’s the white walls that make it look as if it’s bright", Michael replied.
He signaled to the nurse from earlier to arrange the containers of the shampoo and cream at one table and as for the bottle, he took it to another table. He already knew that that bottle contained but he wanted to be sure.
Michael wore his hand gloves and examined the liquid in the bottle with the microscope while Ethan and Erika watched him. The nurse on the other hand was examining the cream and shampoo with another microscope.
"No way", Michael muttered.
"What is it?" Ethan asked.
Michael took off his hand glove and shook his head. "This is a very dangerous substance that can cause slow death to anyone. The bacterias living inside are not good to anyone’s health and it can cause serious damage if inhaled, applied on the skin or eaten". Erika clenched her fist in anger.
"And the symptoms that it can show are similar to what the butler told you. Vomiting of blood, loss of appetite and common headache but it would only start with common headache and tiredness to make it look like it’s a common sickness that one needs to take some pain relievers to get rid of it but that is only the first stage." Michael explained.
"The second and only last stage is when the vomiting of blood and loss of appetite starts. Her body would start shrinking and she would look paralyzed with no movements at all until the substance destroys all her internal organs."
Ethan pulled Erika close when he noticed her body trembling. "That witch, she is so wicked! What did grandma Elizabeth ever do to her?!"
"Erika please calm down", Ethan told her.
"This is a very rare poison and it has been banned all over the world. The only place she could have gotten this is in the black market", Michael added. "It immediately disappears when it enters the body system making it impossible to track".
The nurse came over and informed them that the creams and shampoo also contained the same poison. Even though they had expired, the bacterias were still very much alive and it could damage anyone’s body system who applied it on the skin so he instructed the nurse to burn them.
"How about the drugs?" Ethan reminded.
"As for the drugs," Michael picked up the drugs. "They are just normal drugs to help with the headache and dizziness. The doctor probably thought that they were just normal sicknesses and prescribed them", he explained.
