Chapter 71: BLACKMAIL FAILED
"Here, have a seat", offered Maddison to Monica who was still standing. The both of them were in Maddison’s apartment as they had decided to hang out on that day since the both of them were free.
Monica gladly took a seat as she admired the interior decorations of the apartment. There was a small sized HD TV hanging on her painted wall, three small but comfy couches were arranged in order and the kitchen also looked small but interesting. It seems this idol of hers loved small things, Monica thought to herself.
"Wait here, let me get you some juice", Said Maddison as she rushed into the kitchen and came back with a glass of juice and handed it to her. Monica took the juice and drank from it.
"So what was it you wanted to show me? If it’s dressing, then you called the right person", said Monica and Maddison just stared at her with a smile.
She shook her head, "No. This is want I want to show you". Maddison brought out her phone and revealed the picture she took of Monica coming down from Felix’s car. Out of shock, Monica spat out her juice.
"W-where d-did you get t-that picture from?" She stuttered in fear. All hairs on her body stood on their ends as she stared at Maddison with questionable eyes.
Maddison chuckled a little before replying, "This? I took it the day you left his car, don’t you remember?" She asked her back.
Of course Monica remembered, she just didn’t expect it to happen. It was a good thing that Felix’s window were heavily tinted. If not, Maddison could have captured their intense make out.
Monica’s shocked state didn’t let her speak so Maddison spoke again.
"If you are worried that I would release the photo then you are thinking wrong. I won’t do that", Said Maddison which made Monica release a sigh of relief. "But you have to break up with Felix so that the media won’t find out", she added.
"What?" Mumbled Monica, feeling her heart skip a beat at the mention of a breakup.
Maddison nodded her head. "You are still a rookie, Monica. And you have come far, it wouldn’t be good for you if news got out that you are dating a Walters son. Netizens would start thinking that you used his power and fame to reach your success".
"But I love him", Said Monica. "I didn’t use his fame or anything to reach where I am now", she added.
"But the media’s won’t care like that. As long as you are dating a powerful man, you are using his money and power to get here", remarked Maddison.
Monica was at loss for words again. "You said you wouldn’t release the picture right? So there is no need for me to break up with him".
Maddison chuckled slightly, "But that doesn’t mean it can be kept as a secret forever. One day or another, you would definitely be exposed. Look, I’m not trying to blackmail you or anything but you are going to have to choose. Your career or your relationship", Said Maddison. When she saw the conflicted look on Monica’s face, she thought she had won but her excitement was short lived.
"No! I won’t break up with Felix but I will make sure that the media never finds out about our relationship", Monica declared as she nodded her head.
The smile on Maddison’s face faltered but she managed to pull it up again and replied, "Okay, If you say so".
"Don’t mind me requesting this but can you please delete that picture from your phone?"
"You think I would release the photo? You don’t trust me?" Maddison asked her.
Monica shook her head, "it’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just that a lot of people have access to your phone and it’s possible for them to see it", she reasoned out and Maddison nodded in agreement.
Maddison deleted the photo and showed it to Monica. Unfortunately for Monica, Maddison had already saved the photo to her iCloud before she deleted it.
"There, it’s deleted", she announced. ’What a stupid girl’, thought Maddison.
The tension in the living room drastically dropped and the two girls pretended that nothing had happened. In the middle of their fun of talking about life experiences, Maddison received a call from her manager who announced that there was an emergency photo shoot.
The two girls had to cut their fun short and went their separate ways. Monica and Felix would hang out from time to time but she didn’t know if she should reveal the discussion between herself and Maddison cooper. It seemed like a solved issue and she had starting trusting Maddison even more.
Whenever she would need to sneak away from her manager, she would ask help from Maddison and the latter would gladly come to her aid. Even Felix was surprised when Monica would agree to go out with him without the fear of being caught.
Maddison on the other hand was thinking of ways to make Monica disappear from the industry. Everyday, Monica’s fame would always increase, nearly catching up to her. Netizens have started comparing both of the charismas and they preferred Monica’s even more due to her young age and charm. The latter would always act cool around Monica as if nothing was wrong but only she knew how much her blood was boiling with rage.
Maddison was in her dressing room, getting ready for a runway as her manager interested her with words but when she noticed that her model was not paying attention, she asked,
"What are you thinking about? Are you sick".
"I’m sick indeed. I’m sick of seeing Monica’s name in the chart", Maddison nearly screamed. The manager gave the makeup artist a look and she immediately excused herself.
"So what do you plan to do? Should we create a scandal to make her lay low for a while so you can have the chance to shine again?" The manager suggested her with a smirk.
