Chapter 59: GIFT SHOPPING
At the hotel room that Jasmine was staying in, she continuously tried to contact Ethan’s number but she’d always get the same result every time. But she didn’t give up and tried again.
In Erika and Ethan’s bedroom, Ethan’s phone vibrated nonstop but he wasn’t in his room to take the call. Erika, who was still sleeping on the bed heard the phone vibrate again.
"Ethan, your phone is ringing", she called out but no reply so she got up from the bed and went to where his phone was. "It could be an important call", she muttered and picked up the phone but the call had stopped already.
"F*ck", Erika cursed angrily and turned her heels to go back to bed but the call came in again. Erika went and picked up the phone without checking the name and yelled angrily, "What is it?!! Don’t you know it’s still early in the morning and you shouldn’t be calling so much?"
Jasmine was confused by what the person said. She had expected to hear Ethan’s voice but instead heard a woman’s voice. Could this be Erika? Jasmine asked herself. Her blood boiled in anger to think that Ethan had been with another woman all this time that she was looking for him.
"You must be Erika, you are the one who stole Ethan away from him!" Jasmine yelled angrily.
"Hey hey! Keep quiet. Didn’t you hear what I said earlier? It’s still early in the morning and you are already barking like a dog. By the way... who are you and how do you know my name?" Erika asked on the other side. She really hated to be woken up so early with a continuous annoying call so she vented her annoyance towards the caller.
"You are calling me a dog? Listen here, you better leave my Ethan or else..." Jasmine threatened.
"Or else what?..... are you going to bark again?" Erika asked.
Jasmines face flushed in embarrassment when she heard heard what Erika said.
"I am Ethan’s fiancé so you better leave my man", jasmine said.
Erika’s eyes that were closed all this time, listening to the caller’s words opened in surprise. She checked the caller’s name and she saw the name Jasmine written on it. She smiled.
"You are his fiancé but why is he with me? Also the last time I checked, my boyfriend does not have a fiancé so you must be calling the wrong number. If you are looking for your fiancé then I suggest you go to the pound, am sure you will be able to find a suitable spouse", and Erika hung up on the phone without letting her speak any further.
"So that was jasmine? The one who nearly killed me? She really is a hypocrite, calling so early", Erika checked time on Ethan’s phone. "Its still 6:40am". Erika cursed again and went back to bed.
Jasmine who heard the beeping sound which indicates that the call had already been hung up flared in anger. The regret that she was feeling when she was sent to prison for kidnapping Erika was thrown out of the window.
Now she wished she could see Erika and cut her into pieces. She had been called a dog three times by that woman, she was vexed. She wanted to call again but was not sure if it was either Erika or Ethan that would pick up the phone. Why was Erika with Ethan’s phone anyway? She asked herself.
Erika slept for an extra hour until it was time for her to wake up. She stepped down from the bed and went to the bathroom to go brush her teeth and wash her face.
She went down to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for herself and Ethan. He had not left his study room since he entered very early in the morning.
Erika quickly made breakfast and prepared scorching hot creamy coffee to boost his energy back to life. She arranged all the food on a tray and carried it upstairs to Ethan’s study room. Because of her two hands that were occupied by holding the tray, she used her leg to kick the door.
Ethan rushed out quickly and when he saw Erika standing at the door, he sighed in relief.
"Let me take that", he said and took the tray from Erika’s hands and the both of them went inside the study room.
"I thought you might be hungry so I made a little something to eat", she said to Ethan who had eye bags under his eye. "Is there a problem?"
"Not really. I just decided to clear my paperwork before we travel", Ethan took a sip from the tasty hot coffee and groaned in delight. "This is a good coffee, thank you". He complimented.
"You are welcome", she replied. "But where are we going traveling to?" She asked looking confused.
"I forgot to tell you this earlier, It slipped my mind. It’s my dad’s birthday in three days", Ethan said apologetically.
Erika stiffened, it was her future father in law’s birthday in three days? She asked herself feeling surprised. She started feeling anxious because she was going to see Mr Anderson.
"Ethan... why didn’t you tell me this earlier? I could have prepared something for him, there is no time", she complained feeling pressured.
"Am so sorry about that but if you are worried about the gift, then we can go shopping now if you want", Ethan suggested.
"We can go now but what are we going to buy, I don’t know what he likes", she panicked but Ethan held her still.
"I will help you, don’t worry," Ethan reassured Erika and smiled warmly at her.
Erika relaxed after seeing Ethan’s smile. She has never seen Ethan’s family before and she would be lying if she said that she was not worried if they didn’t like her.
"Hey, if you are worried that they won’t like you then it’s impossible. Casey has been dying to see you all this time but I was the one who stopped her because I was still pursuing you back then. As for my mother and father, they have been pressuring me to bring a woman home", he tried to reassure her and pulled Erika to sit on his lap and circled his arms around her. "They are going to love you, am sure about it".
Erika was surprised to see that Ethan was able to read her mind and know her worries. She leaned her head to lay on his chest. She heard his heartbeat and relaxed, she wasn’t going to worry anymore.
They started having their breakfast when Erika remembered something and said,
"Guess who called your phone today".
"Who?" Ethan asked.
"Your childhood friend/hypocrite/fiancé," she replied before taking a sip from her coffee mug.
Ethan paused and looked at Erika in shock. "Jasmine called?"
"Yeah she did. She was continuously calling your phone when I was still asleep. Geez, I was so annoyed by it and I answered the call instead", she said. "She really blabs a lot. She kept barking nonstop saying that she was your fiancé and I should leave you alone and some other nonsense things she was spouting so I hung up on the phone. She definitely does not have any manners at all. Can you believe that? She was ordering me around".
