Chapter 60: UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER
"I am going to clear everything up when we get back to New York. She really thinks she still has a chance of getting close to me after what she did to you," Ethan replied. He didn’t want to let Erika know what happened in his apartment as it was totally unnecessary.
Erika nodded and they ate and got dressed to go to the mall to pick a gift for Mr Anderson.
"Which one do you think is okay? The navy blue or silver?" Erika asked holding two expensive new watches in her hands.
"I really don’t know, they look really good looking", Ethan replied.
"Urgh Ethan, you said you will help me pick out a gift but you haven’t chosen one yet, you keep saying they look good. Of course they look good, but I want the perfect one for Mr Anderson", Erika groaned in frustration.
"Believe me when I say that am trying to pick one but they look too good. How about we choose both?" Ethan suggested to Erika who was staring intently at the watches like as if it would say "choose me".
"We could do that but what if he doesn’t like it. I want to get a bit of everything", Erika replied and called the saleswoman to pick out the two watches and add it with the suits, shoes, wallet, tie and cuff links she picked out earlier.
The sales woman nodded happily. With this big amount of sale she had made today, she would be getting a huge commission out of it. She gladly took the wristwatches from Erika’s hands and went to go add them to the others selected.
Erika continued looking around for something special to pick for Mr Anderson.
"Erika, I think that is enough." Ethan said.
"It’s your fault that they are many. You said you would help me with the gift but you kept choosing the same optional items so I had to take them. You suggested it", Erika said and Ethan could only shook his head and sigh. Ethan was about to defend himself but someone called his name.
"Ethan?"
Erika and Ethan both turned their heads to look at the caller. Ethan glared hard at the person in front of him. Erika didn’t know who it was and could only stare at the person with a confused expression.
Jasmine ran to hug Ethan, "OMG! I missed you so much" but Ethan’s sharp glare made her stop her tracks instantly. She turned to look at Erika who was beside him and anger consumed her heart. She remembered when she called Ethan’s phone that morning but Erika picked it up instead and called her a dog.
"Ethan, who is this?" Erika asked while sizing the woman.
"That is Jasmine", Ethan responded with a heavy tone of distaste. He had not expected to see jasmine right here but he wasn’t going to hide her identity from Erika.
Erika was surprised to see the Jasmine who was after her Ethan and the one who put her life in danger. She wasn’t going to lie but Jasmine looked pretty but she was wasting it on a guy who doesn’t love her.
"Oh, so you are the Jasmine who disturbed my sleep this morning? I hope you have learnt your lesson?" Erika smirked and entwined her hand with Ethan’s and he gladly cooperated.
"I was checking up on Ethan because he wasn’t picking up my call. I went to your office but I didn’t see you there so...."
"So you came here?" Erika completed the sentence for her.
Jasmine could tell that Erika was out for her. She wasn’t going to make things easy for her as she keeps on butting in.
"I... i came here for some work", she lied and looked at Ethan. "It’s uncle’s birthday in 3 days time. Let’s go and select a gift for him. Erika, you can come along if you want". Erika frowned at her words. Jasmine made it sound like she was the first one to come with Ethan. Jasmine was about to hold his hand but Ethan raised his hand to stop her.
"Are you blind? I am with my girlfriend shopping for a gift already. If you want to select a gift, you can go all by yourself instead. You don’t need to tag along with us". Ethan said coldly and pulled Erika to continue their shopping. He didn’t want his mood to be ruined because of the presence of Jasmine but the lady is really pushing it.
Erika winked at Jasmine when she saw her dissatisfied face.
Jasmine watched Erika and Ethan disappear inside the store and she clenched her fist in anger and left to go and stay in her car. Now is the chance to find out where they live, she said to herself.
Erika and Ethan didn’t bother with their encounter with Jasmine and continued their shopping happily. Erika was only satisfied when half of everything in the store was in the shopping bag.
"Now we can go home", Erika said and the both them went home.
Jasmine followed them discreetly without being noticed until they entered their estate. The security of the estate was quite tight and she couldn’t follow them in. She banged at the stirring wheel in frustration and left.
Erika got all the gifts wrapped and went to work. Since she was going to New York to attend Mr Anderson’s birthday, she would need to complete more paperworks.
Ethan and Erika arrived a day before the party so they settled in their bags and Ethan went to work to see how the company was doing.
"Sir, you don’t need to worry. I took care of the company and made sure that everyone did their work properly", Peter said hoping to get a compliment from Ethan who was turning some pages of a file.
"Hmm...you did well", Ethan praised the young man and peter felt like fire crackers were fired up in the sky. This was really a once in a blue moon moment and he cherished it.
"Thank you so much sir", Peter appreciated and contemplated for a while not knowing if he should let Ethan know that Jasmine came here looking for him one time. After some further thoughts, he decided to say it;
"Boss, Jasmine came here one time looking for you and created a scene but I sent her away. It was the time that you left to California", he informed.
"Yes she told me about it. Check in my dad’s invitation list if the Davis are going to the party", Ethan instructed peter and he nodded and quickly left to go check. After some minutes passed, he came back to the office and said,
"Yes sir, they are invited to the party and they have also confirmed their arrival".
Ethan wasn’t surprised that they were invited at all besides his father was still friends with Mr Davis. He would need to clarify things quickly before they keep on assuming that he would get married to Jasmine and the best place to do that was at his father’s birthday celebration where those top class people would be. Hopefully, Mr Davis would stop pushing that discussion.
