Chapter 44: SURPRISE
Ethan was able to smell out the aphrodisiac in the drink because a lot of women had tried using it to trap him and thankfully, he always smells his drink before sipping it.
Ethan’s glare towards Jasmine became more suffocating for her and she managed to say,
"Is there a problem, Ethan?"
"Get out!" Ethan demanded.
"What?! You know I can’t go back now...."
"I said get out!!!" Ethan stood up and grabbed Jasmine’s hand and dragged her to the door while she begged for him to stop.
Ethan opened the door and threw her out in the rain with no remorse . "You disgust me!" He yelled and closed the door in her face.
Jasmine stood outside, banging on the door for Ethan to let her in but he never opened it. She had been standing for 10 minutes already and the rain was pouring even heavily. She didn’t know what went wrong.
Everything happened so fast for her to remember anything. One second, Ethan was about to drink the wine and she was about to succeed with her plan but then all of a sudden, he threw her out of his house, just like that. Could he had found out about the drink? she thought to herself.
Jasmine was about to leave but the door opened and she smiled with hope. Adrain didn’t throw her out, she thought to herself. She was about to march in but then unfortunately, Ethan threw the bag that she had brought in along with her and locked the door again not giving her a chance to say anything.
Jasmine was beyond shocked, she took all her things that were on the ground and stomped to her car angrily. After she settled in her car, she hit her stirring wheels in anger and she growled like a mad woman. She wasn’t going to give up! She looked at Ethan’s apartment and said,
"I will make you mine, Ethan! No matter what happens!" With that, she drove off. Her plans might have failed this time but she wasn’t going to give up. In her mind she saw Ethan first so she was the one to have him and not that Erika.
Ethan was in his kitchen, throwing away the food that jasmine prepared. He made sure to wash the dishes thoroughly before settling them properly.
After he was done, he checked the calendar date and called peter to prepare his private jet. And then he continued working on his paperwork.

Erika was in her office working as usual until she saw an email from the Hart’s Corp. asking for a partnership. She immediately requested for Eve to reply to them that they weren’t interested.
Erika had a hunch that Adrain must have sent it because he wanted more resources for his company but she wouldn’t let him partner with her company, no matter what.
After working hours were over, Erika packed up and went home. Everywhere was dark and quiet when she came in and she instincts became active. She called out to Monica and some of the servant’s names but no reply.
Out of nowhere, the lights were switched on and everyone yelled,
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ERIKA!!!"
Erika was surprised to see everyone. Her mother, father, brothers, Monica and....Ethan. She had totally forgotten about her birthday because of her busy schedules with the perpetrators at the company.
Erika became emotional and her mother hugged her to calm her down. They had always celebrated her birthday since she came back home after her divorce but for some reason, this one felt even more special.
The cake was brought out and Erika made a wish and blew out the candles. The servants cut the cake and served it to everyone.
Ethan came forward and kissed her cheek. "Happy birthday beautiful", he wished her.
Erika looked at him like she was hypnotized. She hasn’t seen it for 2 weeks and she thought he had gotten even more handsome, except that he has lost some weight which she couldn’t help but take noticed of.
Erika managed to nod and grabbed his hand and the both of them went to the garden. Ethan was surprised by her actions but he followed her.
"Ethan... you remember what you told me on our first date", Erika started which confused Ethan a little. "You told me that you loved me", she cleared it up.
Ethan nodded. He didn’t know where she was heading to with the conversation but he wanted to find out.
"Am sorry for making you wait so long but I think I love you too, Ethan", Erika confessed looking into his eyes. She didn’t plan to confess her feelings for Ethan today or any other day but after seeing now since 2 weeks, she realized that she really loved the man in front of her. She wanted to let go of her past and the fear of being betrayed again. Her stocked up feelings were like torture to her and the only way her heart would be free is when she lets go of it.
Erika missed him so much that even though, it was just 2 weeks, it felt like 2 years.
Ethan froze, he didn’t know if he was dreaming or not.
"I love you Ethan", Erika repeated, looking into his eyes. But Ethan was still frozen and this made her worried. "Are you okay? Please say something", she tried shaking him back to life.
Ethan finally blinked his eyes and he looked at her lovingly. "I love you too, Erika". He had come here to surprise her for her birthday but it seems that he was the one who got a surprise instead. He pulled her towards him and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her dearly.
Erika breath in his scent that relaxed her tired body. She didn’t know that a day would come when she would be able to fall in love again but it seems that nothing was impossible.
They pulled away from each other but Ethan was still holding her hands afraid to let her go Incase she would disappear. "You really made me wait for so long", he complained with a pout.
"Am so sorry about that but we can make up for the things we have missed so far", Erika apologized.
"How about our first kiss?" Ethan suggested, glancing at her full red lips that looked kissable. Erika subconsciously gulped her saliva while wetting her lips when she saw Ethan’s focus on it. She had never kissed a man before. Funny story, she had been married for 3 years but her so called husband has never touched her before.
The garden was quiet but not too quiet as the sounds the crickets made could still be heard.
Ethan looked into her ocean blue eyes and cupped her face, bringing his face inches closer until his lips captured hers. Erika closed her eyes to enjoy the feeling of being kissed by the man she loves.
Ethan sucked her bottom lip and bit it which made her gasp and he took that opportunity to slip his tongue in her mouth, to taste her.
Erika grabbed Ethan’s shirt tighter when his tongue suddenly slipped into her mouth. She felt him taste every inch of her mouth as he sucked her tongue before going back to suck her lips again.
At this rate, Erika’s legs have already weakened but thankfully, Ethan held her still by the waist. He continued kissing her until he was satisfied.
When they separated, he looked at her flushed face and was satisfied with the result.
Ethan kissed her on the forehead and hugged her again. Non of them uttered a word until they were called back in to come take some cake before it finishes.
