Chapter 364: SURPRISE PARTY?

"Who would have thought that Erika could give birth to such beautiful children?" She stared at them from head to toe, taking in their items of clothing before her eyes went back to their faces. "Too bad the both of you will have to pay for the sins of your mother. She’s an evil person," she added, walking a few steps away to take a better look at them.

"Because of your mother’s sin, you two aren’t going to be alive past today. Tsk tsk tsk," she hissed pitifully. "What a waste."

Her eyes caught the cupboard and she frowned when she saw that it was opened widely. Walking towards it, the boys found a chance to open their eyes to look at the person talking so badly about their parents but they didn’t get a chance to see her face since her back was what faced them both.

"Who left this open?" Felicia mumbled under her breath. With no further ado, she pushed it close and turned to face the boys whose eyes were still closed. Checking the time on her wristwatch, she frowned even more. "Jude!" She called for the nanny.

Immediately, Jude ran to her and asked,

"What’s it?"

The speed at which Jude had arrived only made Felicia wonder if the nanny had been behind the door all this time but she didn’t bother to ask.

"Did you use too much anesthesia? Why aren’t they waking up yet? It’s almost three hours already."

Jude glanced at the boys who were still asleep before she turned back to Felicia.

"I-I followed the instructions on the bottle and I’m sure I didn’t put much. The boys were tired before I used it on them so that must be the reason they aren’t waking up yet," Jude tried to explain herself.

"It’d better be because if something bad happens to them before Ethan and Erika reply to us, I will kill your daughter and you will bear witness to it," Felicia threatened before she left, stomping her feet out of the room.

Jude stood frozen, still obviously affected by the threat. She glanced at the boys before she left as well.

The boys made sure to stay in their position until they couldn’t hear any nearby footsteps.

Luca first opened his left eye before he opened the right one.

"They are gone?" He whispered to John and the latter opened both of his eyes.

"We need to get out of here as soon as possible before that crazy woman comes back here," said John as they started to loosen the rope. Luckily for them, neither Jude nor Felicia looked at their wrists and found their knots untied so they still had a chance.

Grabbing Luca by the arm as he did the first time, John started pulling him out of the room. Following the same lane they had used before, they tried to look for the exit so that they could get out of there without making any noise.

Getting to the room where they heard Felicia asking Adrain a question earlier, they continued their slow, sneaky pace and waited for a while if they could hear anything. When they didn’t, they passed successfully and waited again if they would hear any sound and when they didn’t, they released a sigh of relief.

"Where do we go from here?" Luca asked John who was staring at the windows and the doors.

"We have to open all the doors. We might find the one that will lead us outside," he suggested.

Luca gasped without a sound being made as he covered his mouth dramatically.

"Do you hear what you are saying? What if we open one of those doors and see one of those bad people? If only Jude hadn’t been the one to bring us here, we could have asked her to help us out but she’s working with these people."

"Which is why we have no choice but to check all the doors," John said and continued pulling Luca who was resisting a little.

"But..." Luca drawled, scared.

John paused, turned to look at Luca whose eyes held fear in them, and said,

"We will see Mom and Dad again and when we do, we will tell them the names of these people. Do you remember their names?" He asked Luca.

The latter nodded. "Andrew, Felicia, and our nanny."

John sighed, resisting the urge to facepalm himself before he corrected Luca. "It’s Adrain. That’s the name of the man."

"That’s right," Luca immediately agreed with a nod.

"There could be more of them here so we have to be careful." Luca nodded again and they continued their search for the exit door.

The part of the house they were in didn’t make any kind of noise as they walked which was a good thing since no one would hear their footsteps but it was terrible too because they wouldn’t be able to hear others’ footsteps.

Opening the first door, they saw nothing inside. Nothing but space and it was dark. Feeling creeped out by the darkness, John quickly closed it and moved to the door.

When he was about to push it open, he noticed it was already open but left slightly ajar. Placing a finger on his lips, he opened it more, just a little to peek inside and there they were, both Adrian and Felicia pacing around the room.

Luca noticed how shocked John was and decided to peek a little for himself to see what he saw.

When Luca saw Felicia, he mumbled ever so lightly, "Mom?"

Luca was about to rush into the room but John held him back and pushed him away from the door.

"I’m also thinking the same thing you are thinking, luca but mom can’t possibly be the one who kidnapped us." He tried to knock some sense into Luca’s head but how could he if he was also confused about the whole thing.

"What if it was a surprise party?" Luca suddenly asked with sparkling eyes.
