Chapter 355: ELECTION
Robert arrived at the house and carried Emma until they reached the room.
"I know that you are angry with me but that’s not going to solve any of our problems," he tried to make her understand but she only struggled more until he placed her on the bed. "You probably think I see you as a dirty woman but I really don’t. I love you so much, Emma."
"Get away from me!" She screamed. Not wanting to alert everyone in the house unnecessarily, Robert reached for the door and closed it behind him but not before taking one last glance at Emma who was sobbing painfully on the pillow she hugged close to her chest.
"She’s really sad," John mumbled beside Robert. He’d been standing beside the door, not wanting to come in between their talk even though it wasn’t really much of a talk but more yelling.
"I don’t blame her at all," said Robert. Turning to John, he asked, "What happened to Francis? Have you found him already?"
"We still can’t find Francis but don’t worry, he hasn’t left the city yet," he replied. Robert nodded and didn’t ask any questions about how he knew about that. John was not a high-rank military man, but he had connections. "He’s a noble senator in the eyes of the citizens. There’s an upcoming election and he’s going to take part. I am willing to let you get your revenge by killing him on that day," John added.
An evil glint passed through Robert’s eyes when he heard John. He was extremely bloodthirsty and could not wait to bury his own hands in the blood of the man who destroyed his family.

A few more days passed by, and Robert went to visit Beatrice and informed her of everything that had happened. She was shocked at first since she couldn’t believe it. She visited Emma who had started to behave abnormally.
Emma would stare at the wall for a good several hours without blinking but her mouth would be moving, as if she was whispering words to something but there was no one but the wall she faced. When Robert noticed this behavior from Emma, he quickly admitted her to a psychiatrist but days had passed with no progress at all.
Robert’s injury closed up within that one week and it was finally the day that Francis was to come out in public and make his promises to win votes from people.
Despite being reluctant to leave Emma alone in her room, John had been able to convince Robert that some of his men would be around to watch her.
Watching him on the stage, expressing his promises to the people who would vote for him, Robert snarled under his breath.
"How could someone so evil act so innocent in public?" He mumbled under his breath. He stood in the large crowd of people, perfectly blending in with his casual clothes and a long wig with a cap to hold it still.
Pulling out his gun that had a silencer attached to it to silence the gunshot, Robert aimed at Francis.
Everyone was suddenly clapping after Francis stated something that he wasn’t paying attention to so no one noticed him with the gun.
Pulling the trigger while still aimed at Francis, Robert cursed when Francis bent down to lift a child who wanted to hug him and missed the bullet.
No one heard the sound of the gunshot because of the silencer and now Robert couldn’t aim back at Francis because of the child that was in the latter’s arms. He’d already lost all of his children, he wasn’t that thirsty for revenge to kill the child of another parent.
Annoyed at the situation, Robert started making slow strides towards the stage.
When he made eye contact with Francis, the man panicked, almost dropping the child on the ground. He couldn’t move. The microphone was in his hands but the hand was shaking due to how scared he was.
Seraphina, dressed in the finest clothes ever to represent her fiancé who engaged her a few days ago acted like the perfect future wife smiling at him to calm his nerves but his stares didn’t move away from Robert.
Curious, Seraphina looked into the crowd and found Robert, standing there with the other people. Instantly, she let go of Francis as fear gripped her.
"And that’s all for today. Please vote for me and I will continue to make our city a safe place for everyone." Francis ended his speech and once again, everyone clapped for him, discarding his earlier behavior of pausing mid-speech.
Francis handed the child back to the mother and quickly started to walk away.
His men who were dressed in security guards’ uniforms pulled out their guns and waited for Robert to attack them at the parking lot since that was where they assumed he would show up.
Suddenly, the light to the parking lot went out and gunshots echoed around the area followed by Seraphina’s screams of panic. By the time the lights were switched back on, Francis looked for his men but they were all on the ground, dead.
"We need to leave now," said Seraphina, rigging on Francis’ hands to pull him away from the blood of his dead men.
"If you dare get into that car, I will blow your brains out!"
They both halted at the familiar sound. The threat was heavy and the temperature of the parking lot seemed to have reduced drastically.
Slowly, Francis turned his head and faced Robert who was already pointing a gun at him.
"What happened Francis? You seem to be scared, are you scared?" Robert asked.
Francis gulped down his saliva, as words were impossible to be released.
"Robert, you shouldn’t do whatever you think you want to do. This is not the right way to resolve this matter. Let’s use our words." Said Seraphina, trying to calm down the situation at hand but a glare from Robert immediately made her clamp her mouth shut.
