Chapter 339: CRIME AS A FRIEND

"Look, I only want to know what happened out of curiosity. If you aren’t comfortable revealing them, just tell me and I will leave," Erika concluded. She had lied about not feeling any sort of pity for Viper but the real truth was, she truly felt pity for him. But only a little since she didn’t know the full story yet.

"I see," Viper hummed. "For a second, I thought you already have feelings for me," he joked, his earlier faltered grin climbing back to settle on his lips once again. When Erika glared at him, he coughed and then cleared his throat. "When I said it was all my fault, I meant I wasn’t able to protect them," he explained.

Erika paused for a second before she asked, "What do you mean?"

Viper released a tired sigh, resting the back of his head on the wall before he continued,

"It happened some time ago when I wasn’t who

I was today. When I didn’t go by the name, Viper...."

"Robert," the voice of a beautiful woman resounded in the small spaced room which consisted of just a bed and a desk. "Robert, you have to wake up now," the voice of the lady called once again, patting the sleeping man on the shoulder but when he wasn’t moving, she grinned. Gesturing to the two boys who waited for her to signal so badly while they tried to muffle their giggling, she said, "I will leave you both to wake up your father now while I go prepare breakfast."

The little boys, not older than four eyes nodded their heads obediently as another giggle tried to escape from them.

"Yes, mummy," they replied in unison. Emma placed a hand on her lips to remind them to keep quiet until she left the room.

As soon as their mother was out of sight, one of the boys whispered to the other. "We have decided to wake up Daddy by tickling him right?"

"Yes. I bet there’s no way he won’t wake up once we start tickling him," the other replied. Each has black hair they got from their mother and brown eyes like their father, making them nearly impossible to tell apart.

They both nodded in unison and took slow steps towards the wooden bed.

They raised their tiny hands and counted from 1 to three then jumped on Robert, tickling him in every tickle spot he got as they giggled.

Emma heard their giggling from downstairs and she could only shake her head, wondering how her sons were ’torturing’ their father to wake up.

"Daddy, wake up!" They screamed out loud while Robert tried to get away from them but they held him tight and internally promised not to let him go.

"Are you both planning on giving me a heart attack?" He asked, pulling Levi close, the one asking about how they would wake him up and then kissing him on the cheeks. After that, he pulled Oliver close and repeated the same routine.

"Mommy was trying to wake you up but you didn’t want to," said Francis as he scrambled away from his father’s hold.

"Is that so?" Robert asked, going after Levi to tickle the little boy while she giggled out loud.

Later, Robert walked down the wooden stairs after he’d instructed the boys to go brush their teeth.

Wrapping his hand around Emma’s waist, he lifted her slightly, earning a gasp from her.

"Good morning," he greeted.

"Good morning," she replied, getting back to her cooking. "Did you have a good sleep?" She asked.

Robert hummed in response as he nuzzled his head on her neck. "A very good one especially after our activity last night," he whispered in her ears.

Emma blushed, a soft shade of red hue settling on her cheeks as she tapped his hands on her stomach lightly.

"Will you stop? The kids will hear you," she reminded him.

Robert grinned before replying, "And so what? They should know that there’s a chance they might be getting a little brother or sister soon."

Emma blushed even more then escaped out of Robert’s arms to go look for the ingredients she needed for the sauce she was making.

After grabbing it, she went back to the stove and found Robert resting on it.

"Aren’t you going to work already? You know how mad Francis gets especially after you go to work late. He hates it," she reminded him.

Robert sighed, clicking his tongue in annoyance at the mention of his boss. "The worst he could do is fire me. But I doubt he would do that since he knows how many of his secrets I know. I am the best out of all his men, so he wouldn’t want to risk it all. And besides, I’ve already found a job somewhere else," he replied with a wink.

"What? Why?" Emma asked in surprise.

"I promised to give you, Levi, and Oliver good and normal lives. Every day I go to work, I put your lives at stake and when I don’t, I still put your lives at stake. I don’t want to do that anymore. I found a job vacancy in a company and I will be applying there for a job," he explained.

"But you just said that you’ve already gotten a job," said Emma.

"Well, I’m sure that after I apply, I will get the job," he assured her and when he noticed her shoulders ease, he smiled at her. "Just a little while longer and we will go back to our normal lives of no crime," he added.

"Daddy, what do you mean by crime?" One of the boys asked and both Emma and Robert both froze in shock. "Is it some kind of candy?" he asked.

Both Viper and Emma shared a look before they nodded.

"No, it’s the name of this new guy who keeps bothering Daddy at work. But don’t worry, Daddy will chase him off so he will stop bothering me," Robert replied.
