Chapter 308: BABY SHOPPING
"Ethan, It’s just a shoe. I’m pretty sure that I won’t fall or slip and besides, I’m always careful." Erika ranted when she saw Ethan taking her heels off her feet.
"These are heels Erika, and not shoes. You are still in the early stages of your pregnancy so you need to be extra careful. Michael also said the same thing, remember?" Ethan reminded her as he took the last black heels off her left foot. After that, he walked towards the shoe rags and picked out sneakers for her. "You wear sneakers most of the time so I don’t think you should have any trouble wearing one today."
Without waiting for her reply, he squatted to her level and started to help her wear the sneakers.
"How do you expect me to wear sneakers with a gown, Ethan?" She questioned with a shot-up eyebrow even though he wasn’t looking at her at that moment.
"Like this."
Erika could only release a sigh of defeat. In less than a minute, Ethan had already helped her wear the sneakers. Standing up, Erika walked towards the mirror and glared at her image. The shining white sneakers make her look like a clown because she wears sneakers with a gown?
Luckily for her, she was wearing a black casual gown that didn’t scream fancy or anything so it looked normal—sorta.
Her eyes traveled to her baby bump that had started to grow and she smiled while her hands caressed it.
"Soon enough, you won’t be wearing gowns anymore."
Erika turned to glare at Ethan for ruining her motherly moment with her baby. "I know," she growled and turned to leave.
Before she could step out of the bedroom, Ethan grabbed her by her hand and pulled her towards him.
"What are—-mmmhmm." Her question was immediately muffled when Ethan placed his lips on hers, claiming them.
He sicked her lower lip before he slipped his tongue in her mouth—tasting her. He continued his action until she melted in his arms and that was when he finally released her, leaving her breathless.
"Now you look even more beautiful with that blush on your face." He grinned.
Erika covered her cheeks and intended to leave again but Ethan pulled her back towards him again.
"You are forgetting something, Erika." When she cocked an eyebrow, his eyes traveled towards her baby bump. "I haven’t said goodbye to the baby yet." He caressed her stomach just like she did in front of the mirror and whispered. "I’m still counting on the days and months that you will finally come out of there."
Erika couldn’t help but smile when she heard his words. She also wanted the same thing but she couldn’t help but be anxious sometimes.
"Bye, baby," Ethan said.
Erika turned confused, not sure if he was talking to her or their baby but either way, she pecked his cheek and waved him goodbye while he got ready to go to the office.
Getting outside, Erika sighted both Jasmine and Monica waiting patiently for her in the car.
"Sorry, I’m late but Ethan told me to wear sneakers instead of heels."
The two women stared at her feet before bursting into waves of laughter while Erika’s cheeks flushed in embarrassment.
"Don’t you have sandals or at least, simple flat shoes?" Monica asked in between her laughter.
"You know how obsessed I am with sneakers and apparently, they are the only ’flat shoes’ I have available right now," Erika replied and got inside the car.
"Buy some when we get to the mall. I’ve listed down most of the things that I’m going to buy for my baby," said Jasmine, and both Monica and Erika peeped into her list to get an idea of what they should buy in their baby shopping. "It was Andrew who made the list for me. I’m just as clueless as you two," she admitted without the question being asked.
"Not bad. I will buy exactly what you are buying because I didn’t make any list," Erika said, giving a sheepish smile while Monica started the engines of the car, heading towards the mall while the other car behind them followed.
Monica noticed the car and asked, "Who are those people?"
Erika’s heart immediately raced when she saw the car but after taking a closer look at it, she calmed down.
"Those are the bodyguards that Ethan hired for me," she replied.
"I see," Monica acknowledged her reply. "I just hope that Felicia won’t try that nonsense she did back at the party and she’d better not show her face again coz I promise I will claw that plastic face of hers if I ever set my eyes on her again. And believe me, I’m not joking," Monica promised, her grip tightening on the steering wheel.
"Calm down before you land us in a car accident," Jasmine said.
"Sure." Monica eased her grip on the steering wheel and Erika couldn’t help but snicker at her friend’s aggressiveness since they saw Felicia at the party.
Looking at Erika from the rearview mirror, she added,
"Don’t worry, I wasn’t bluffing or anything. I truly meant everything I said."
Erika didn’t know if she should laugh or feel proud but either way, she didn’t want to come across Felicia now that she was in this condition. She wouldn’t be able to beat her as she pleases.
"I know," Erika understood.
No one said a word anymore until they arrived at the mall. The same mall where she met Viper a few days ago and she couldn’t help but wonder if she would see him around and have him captured with the help of the bodyguards since she wasn’t alone like that last time.
The car that the bodyguards used parked right behind theirs and two heavy-weight men came out and ran towards their car.
"We are only going to shop around so please do not be too close to us," Erika requested, and they nodded in understanding.
