Chapter 296: DOUBTFUL

At the mall, Erika was eyeing the items on display as she hunted for the perfect gift to give to a special someone on their birthday.

"What should I get him?" She asked herself, her index finger tapping on her chin as she observed the items, ranging from shoes to ties. Sighting a silver suit that shone from the store opposite the one she was in, Erika immediately excused himself and left from there, heading to the one that had the silver suit she had just sighted.

A saleswoman opened the door for her and gave her a welcoming smile while Erika returned it. "I would like to see that suit, please," she directs. The saleswoman looked at the suit that Erika was pointing at and nodded in understanding.

Quickly, the saleswoman grabbed the suit and handed it to Erika. Erika looked at the suit, checking if it would suit Ethan well. She reached for her purse and brought out the paper which she used to write down his measurements when he was heavily asleep the previous night, after their love-making session.

"Can you please check if the measurements are accurate?" She requested from the saleswoman and the woman nodded again with the warm smile still on her lips. Erika watched the woman take the suit and measure it. "If only I could memorize his body length with just my eyes just like he can do with me, then I wouldn’t need to go through this stress," she mumbled under her breath.

Later, the woman brought back the suit and said, "The measurements match, mam."

Erika released a sigh of relief. "Please package it for me then," she requested and moved around the store, in case she would find anything that would fit Ethan.

Minutes later, Erika was done with her shopping and paid for the things she bought. Grabbing the two shopping bags in her hands, she moved to the female section to also get some things for herself when she suddenly felt the stare of someone from behind her.

Instinctively, she looked back but couldn’t find anything staring at her. If it had been most cases, Erika would have simply shrugged the feelings away and continued her shopping but since she knew that Adrian was still out there, she wouldn’t take any chances.

Swiftly, she brought out her phone and messaged Ethan. She doubted she could easily be kidnapped in a mall full of people but it wouldn’t hurt to inform Ethan about her instincts.

When she was done but didn’t get any reply from him immediately, she guessed he was still busy with work.

She was about to text Felix and inform him but decided to just head back home since she had already achieved her main goal of coming to the mall in the first place and that was to shop for a good-looking suit for Ethan for his upcoming birthday party.

Turning around, Erika was about to walk when she bumped into someone’s chest. Judging from how hard it was, she already guessed it was a man’s chest.

Slowly, she looked up at the person, and her eyes couldn’t help but grow wider while her mouth parted with shock.

"Hi Erika," the person greeted her.

"What are you doing here?" Erika asked after a few beats, her tone demanding with authority.

Viper smiled at her. "I came to shop here," he answered but it was obvious from Erika’s unchanging alarm expression that she didn’t buy his reply. "Just like you," he eyed the shopping bags in her hands and instinctively, she hid them behind her back like they were precious jewels that he could steal with just his eyes.

"Where’s Adrain?" She asked him without beating around the bush. "It’s been three months already, isn’t he going to come out of his hiding spot and get married to me already?" She asked, a pinch of sarcasm evident in her tone as she stared at Viper. But she didn’t notice how his hands clenched together at the mention of Adrian getting married to her.

Silently calming down his nerves that seemed to want to explode anytime soon, Viper widened his smile at her which only made Erika remember the Joker from the Batman movies.

"I have no idea where Adrain is," he lied but he was aware that she wasn’t going to believe anything that he had just uttered but he continued to go with it. "I haven’t seen him either since your brothers came to help you escape," he added.

"Shouldn’t you be in jail?" Erika suddenly asked him and Viper choked on his saliva. "You knew that Adrain was the one who kidnapped him but you didn’t tell the police or any authorities about it."

"There’s no evidence against me," he replied and Erika couldn’t help but scoff at him. She found his words rather funny.

"And you think that if we didn’t want you to be in jail, we wouldn’t have found any proof against you yet?" She asked him.

It’s been three good months and she has never sighted anyone who was connected with Adrain. Him suddenly popping out of nowhere was suspicious but as long as people were around, she doubted that he would dare to kidnap her just like that.

"I wasn’t the one who kidnapped you," said Viper, as if wanting that information to sink into her memory.

"But you wanted me to come to you," she stated. "If you know what’s good for you Viper, it would be better that you get Adrian and Felicia out of anywhere that you’ve hidden them and also let them know that even if you don’t bring them out yourself, we will still find them and when I do, they wouldn’t be able to survive from me," she threatened, her voice low and dark. Her unreadable expression only made it harder for Viper to see if she was serious or was just trying to strike fear inside him. That latter only made him smirk at her for he was twice her size.
