Chapter 282: A WEEK LATER
"Are you sure that you want to meet her? Are you sure about that? What if she tries to hurt you? I think you shouldn’t go, Erika," Ethan’s voice continued to fill Erika’s ears and the latter couldn’t help but sigh helplessly.
Since her back was facing Ethan, she turned to look at him and could see his worried eyes, creased forehead, and restless posture.
She didn’t know what to make of his hands that were on his hips as he stood like a married woman who was waiting for her husband to give her money for shopping after he refused to not give her any. That posture earned Ethan a chuckle from her and his already creased forehead creased even further.
"Why are you laughing?" He asked her and she laughed even harder this time, opening her mouth widely as her tone of laughter echoed in the room.
Ethan looked at the mirror to see if there was anything on his face but unfortunately, there wasn’t. He also checked his clothes but still ended up with the same result.
He looked at Erika who was trying as much as possible to muffle her laughter but it made tears pool in her eyes and her cheeks flushed red. Her state was so cute but he chose to not be distracted by her eyes.
"Why are you laughing?" He repeated his earlier question and she finally got the chance to feed on air before she replied.
"You just looked weird with the way you stood earlier," she confessed. When the image played again in her memory, she fought all her control to not laugh again.
Ethan turned slightly confused but he decided to laugh with her for a second before he changed his expression to that of a serious person.
"Do you have to go and see her?" He asked her again. Erika’s smile immediately faltered when he repeated the same question.
She had hope that she would distract him from that question but it looked like she had failed.
"I have to go and meet her, Ethan. She has been asking to see me for a week already and I’m starting to get the idea that she might have something important to tell me," she replied.
A well has already passed but Mary still requested to see Erika several times.
"We haven’t heard anything about Adrian and this could be a chance for us to learn new information. She might have something important to tell me, stop worrying already. She stood on her toes to give him a peck on his creased forehead. "Now, stop creasing your forehead all the time. You will just grow old quicker," she added.
Ethan smiled at her gesture but still couldn’t help but feel worried. "But why are you not letting me go with you?" He asked her.
"Because the doctor said that you have to rest. Even though you have already been discharged from the hospital, it doesn’t mean that you can skip taking your drugs or stress yourself out today much," she reminded him like a teacher reminding a student of her hygiene. " I know that you are worried about me but Edward would be going with me and he said that place is quite enclosed and it isn’t good for you," she added.
She looked at Ethan’s face and saw him sulking like a child whose favorite candy had just been snatched away from him. His expression looked so cute that she couldn’t resist the urge to pinch his cheeks so fondly.
Ethan wrapped his hands around her waist and hugged her. "Please let me come with you," he pleaded like a child and Erika couldn’t help but sigh this time.
She patiently patted them on his back to ease his discomfort and worries. "You know you can’t do that Ethan. The most important thing for you to do now is to stay here, collect fresh air, drink your medicines, and rest." When he didn’t seem to be listening to her, she pulled him away from her and held his hands as she looked at him. "If you can complete all those things I just mentioned, I will give you a gift," she winked at him as she bit her lips in a very seductive manner.
Ethan’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets and instantly, he nodded his head in understanding. "I will make sure to do all the things that you’ve just mentioned but make sure that you come back safe for me," he requested from her and she gladly nodded her head. She was very much aware how her promise was going to wake him up and without wasting a second, he already agreed to do them.
’Finally, they are going to have a hot steamy night together,’ he thought to himself.
He leaned in to peck her lips and gave her one last hug before she left the house. He looked at her departing back and wet his lips in anticipation of what was going to happen between them that night.
Erika walked out of the house with her silver purse in her hands while eating her casual jeans and white blouse. She didn’t find it necessary to dress too much since she was just going to see her ex-mother-in-law in a hostage room that Edward had put her in. And even though she wasn’t wearing any single makeup, she still flowed under the afternoon sun.
Erika reached outside and found Edward’s car parked right outside. He came out of the car and whistled at her appearance and she chuckled in amusement.
"You are looking bright today," he complimented her and she smiled.
"Why, thank you," she replied. He led her towards the car door and opened the door for her and she happily hopped inside.
Edward got in afterward and together, they left the house and headed toward their destination.
Erika’s heart started to beat louder inside her chest but she tried to calm it down before she started feeling any sort of guilt.
