Chapter 281: CLAMMED

Felicia noticed the look that Adrian was giving her and she was very much aware of what he was going to say next. "I’m not going to take any chances as long as my son is still there with that woman," she demanded.

Adrian turned speechless. He also wanted to get his son back but Viper has advised him not to make any move at the moment since the consequences would lead to only one thing, him getting caught by those people.

He was also craving to hold his son again but now he had to endure the emptiness and not mind Felicia.

"We won’t be getting him back now. It’s too risky," he concluded. He could see Felicia’s eyes squint in disappointment but he didn’t care at all. She might still be their son’s mother but he wasn’t sure where this caring came from. Was it because Jake was with Erika or because she was truly hurt that he wasn’t with her anymore? He was totally confused.

"What’s that supposed to mean?!" Her hands clenched harder as she demanded an answer from him. She could have done her favorite thing—gritting her teeth but her mouth wouldn’t permit her so she transferred it to her fists and wished she could punch Adrain at that moment.

"You heard me right." Adrain’s voice was curt and firm. He wasn’t willing to take any chances at the moment, especially now that he was on the run. He wouldn’t have been afraid like this if it was the police who were after him but it was the military. And their commander was a member of Ethan’s family. The risk was too much for him to take and he couldn’t afford that at the moment.

When he felt Felicia’s eyes try to glare his soul out of his eyes, he darted around his house, staring from one piece of furniture to the other. He looked at the small kitchen and the small counter in the center and suddenly remembered when he’d just bought the mansion he burnt days ago.

He suddenly regretted that decision. He’d burnt the mansion, hoping that he wouldn’t be caught by the Walters brothers but things still didn’t go the way he had planned for it to be. And the hideout that he had moved into wasn’t a good choice either.

Even though the place was now empty with not a single soul living there, the military who attacked him knew of that address and they must be keeping an eye there just in case he comes back. He wasn’t a fool to make such a mistake but he was a fool to think that everything would go exactly the way he’d wanted it to be, swiftly.

Viper had suggested that he stay in a house like this to keep himself low-key. He had the money to buy another big house but that would only draw attention towards him so he settled to stay in this house instead. Besides it was only for him to stay in until Viper gave him the green light to attack the Walters again.

Felicia could see that Adrian was lost in his thoughts and she hit her tightened fist on the woodened arms of the chair she was sitting on to get his attention.

"What are you thinking about?" She questioned him but Adrain stayed silent, not answering her.

Her fist clenched tighter again when she realized that Adrian must be thinking of Erika again. ’That woman!’ She screamed in her head. Both she and Adrain might have already been divorced but she couldn’t find a place in her heart to accept that fact. It bruised her badly.

"What I’m thinking is none of your business," he replied despite not wanting to. "You just have to heal quickly and we will continue with our first plan," he added.

Felicia’s eyes slightly widened. "Are we still pushing with the plan?" She asked, very surprised. She had thought that since Erika was already with Ethan, they wouldn’t need to go ahead with the plan but now that Adrian hadn’t dropped the idea, there was still a chance that she could still get to have Ethan for herself.

"Yes, we are still pushing through with the plan so heal as fast as possible," he said while Felicia frowned at him. He made it seem as if she was the one in charge of how fast she could heal.

Nevertheless, she still nodded her head slightly before a question popped into her head.

"Why did you think before that Ethan wouldn’t remember Erika in the first place if you weren’t so sure about it?" She asked him. From the conversation that she’d heard the time that Adrian got to find out that Ethan was alive, she had thought that he’d lost his memory and so did Adrain make her believe. So hearing that Ethan was able to recognize Erika without any trouble made her blood boil.

"That was what I thought but that man is annoying at times," he spits out of jealousy. He could already imagine the kisses that Ethan must have been showering on Erika and that made him feel even more angry as the urge to end Ethan’s life again grew.

"You should have just confirmed first before you started making conclusions," Felicia continued to bite into his wounds, unknowingly annoying him even further. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"He can’t remember some of the faces of his family members so I also thought that he must have forgotten about Erika too," he hoped but his hope had been crushed into pieces. He had already been making plans about how he was going to spend his wedding night with Erika but that dream wasn’t fulfilled.

"Well, next time, make sure that you find out important information first before you start dreaming stupid dreams. If it wasn’t for your men, you would have been caught and I would have been sent to prison," she said, her tone filled with so many triggering words that attacked Adrain’s nerves.

"Mind the way you talk to me," he reminded her as he glared at her. Without the need for him to say it twice, Felicia clammed her mouth shut.
