Chapter 280: ABANDON
"I would have never thought that Adrain would have her name changed. And the fact that the surgery was very successful, it only meant that Felicia is now with Adrian wherever he was hiding," she continued and she nearly choked at her saliva due to how their problems had just gotten bigger.
Erika had thought that once she was rescued from Adrian’s hands, he would be caught and sent to prison but everything ended up taking a big left turn, only making their problems look bigger.
Adrian and Felicia were hiding together. Who knows what they could be planning this time around? She thought to herself.
"But I think something is not right," Erika suddenly said and instantly, the two men halted to listen to her. "I doubt that the doctor left the city like his co-workers said. Maybe that was what he made them believe," she added.
A frown formed on Ethan’s face, trying to understand her, and she continued.
"What if the doctor was with Adrian? I mean, Felicia just got her surgery done. It only makes sense if the doctor is there to look after her until the cuts have healed."
Ethan’s eyes widened at the realization. That was a very huge possibility, he thought to himself.
"But the fact that they are still in hiding, it’s going to be hard to find them at this stage," he said. When he noticed the worried face that Erika wore, he pulled her towards him to hug her to calm her nerves. "Don’t worry, I won’t give them the chance to do anything to separate us again, he promised." He felt Erika smile against his chest and he smiled also.
Edward, who was looking at their PDA hissed, "Can you both tone it down? We are in public,"
He reminded them but they didn’t seem to be bothered with it one bit. "You continue to give me dog food all the time," he hissed again and walked towards the car without waiting for them.
When Erika and Ethan were finally done hugging each other, they walked towards the car and drove away.

In a house, much smaller than the ones that Adrian had lived in since he kidnapped Erika, he stayed in front of Felicia and Mr Gilbert changed her bandages.
"Are you sure that you did the surgery properly? She doesn’t even look like Erika," Adrain complained as he watched Mr Gilbert.
The man sighed for the nth time, nearly about to yell at Adrain for asking the question five times already in the past hour.
"The injuries are going to heal in about a month and that’s when the facial features will start to look similar to the one you had requested," Mr Gilbert gave the same reply that he had been giving Adrian since he had been asking that question. It made him doubt if Adrian had suddenly gone dead.
Felicia flinched when she felt a cut on her face sting. The pain was so unbearable and it filled her mouth with a bitter taste. Without warning, she kicked Mr Gilbert and the man yelped in pain.
"That hurts," she hissed from one corner of her mouth. Her lips were also stitched so she wasn’t able to talk properly.
"That’s because you keep moving too much," Mr Gilbert hissed back at her and she glared at him.
Once Mr Gilbert was done changing the bandages, he went outside to throw them away and give those two a chance to talk with each other.
Staying close to Felicia only made him feel an headache and he wanted to rest his head.
Adrain stared at Felicia’s face which was newly bandaged up, leaving only her eyes and her lips exposed.
"How do you feel?" He asked her and she responded to him by glaring at him.
"How could you let this happen?" She voiced out her question through the same corner of her lips. "Now Erika is back together with Ethan, my Ethan," she added as she clenched her fist.
Adrain had already explained everything that had happened and he was very aware of how angry she would be but he didn’t care a bit about her anger.
"Now that Erika is with Ethan, how are we doing to make him forget about her? You told me that he lost his memory and won’t remember her face, now look. They are back together and they are keeping my baby with them," now, she gritted her teeth in anger.
Adrain stared at her, slightly surprised. "Remember how you’d abandoned Jake and now you are calling him your son?" He asked her and scoffed afterward. "Jake is no longer your son, let’s just make that clear before you start acting delusional. The moment you agreed to do this and leave him behind, that was when you had decided to abandon him and he’s no longer your son."
"Stop talking rubbish Adrian," she interrupted him. "You can’t hold that against me because I did this for both of our benefits," she reminded him but he scoffed at her again. "But now that everything is going in the wrong direction for us, what’s the use of having Erika’s face? It’s worthless to me now."
"Worthless?" Adrain questioned her with a raised eyebrow. "Do you prefer you have that ugly face of yours and scare the hell out of people?"
Felicia felt insulted by Adrain’s words but she couldn’t help but admit that it was better to have this face than her scarred face. Besides, the police wouldn’t be able to find her anymore especially now that she has changed her name to Lucia Martinez.
"Don’t talk to me like that. When are you going to get my son back from Erika?" She decided to change the topic to avoid admitting that the face she has now would help her out a lot. "I don’t like her being close with my son. She might start brainwashing him at that young age," she added.
Adrain stared at Felicia and wondered if her brain was also affected when the surgery was ongoing. Jake was only two months old so how could he be brainwashed at that young age?
