Chapter 255: CAN’T LEAVE
"I know that things have become too dangerous for us here and if we spend any more time, the police might catch up to us at some point. It’s really dangerous so once we are married, we are going to leave the city for good," Adrian continued to blab with a smile as he stared at Viper who tightened his grip on Adrian’s collar, wanting to strangle him to death at that moment.
He couldn’t believe that Adrian had made such a plan without even involving him. To think that the latter had already planned everything and was just telling him now only meant that Adrian wouldn’t have told him about what he was intending to do in the first place.
"You can’t leave with Erika," Viper growled, trying as much as possible to not hit Adrian on the spot since his actions would come out too suspicious.
Frowning, Adrian questioned Viper, "Why not?"
"You just can’t," Viper breathes. "You can’t marry her nor can you leave with her," he added with another growl.
Frowning even deeper because he couldn’t quite understand what Viper was talking about, Adrian pushed Viper away, making the other man stumble a little before he found his footing and questioned again,
"What do you mean by I can’t do that? Erika and I love each other so I’m sure it’s not a problem for either of us. Her brothers have stopped searching for her, I suppose so we can easily leave the country after our wedding."
This was the last thing that Adrian had wanted to hear— someone going against his plans with Erika and he had somehow forgotten that Viper was still his boss and he should show him some respect.
"Aren’t you listening to me?!" Viper yelled out of frustration, his veins popping on his neck as he strained his voice to prove how frustrated he was and how loud he could be. "You listen to me," he glared at Adrian in the eyes, planning to intimidate the latter but unfortunately for him, Adrian stood with a broad chest as if wanting to prove how unbothered he was but Viper didn’t care about that, and only continued his threats. "If you dare get married to Erika or leave this city with her, I promise you Adrain. You are going to lose your life. I will FUCKING kill you!!"
"Are you threatening me?" Adrian questioned Viper. He was starting to find this new attitude of Viper quite strange. ’He’s acting so possessive towards Erika like he’s in love with her,’ Adrian thought to himself. Staring at Viper for a second longer, trying to figure out with his head what could have changed this man’s behavior all of a sudden, Adrian widened his eyes in realization. "Are you in love with Erika?" He thought out loud.
This was the question he’d wanted to ask himself internally but was unable to keep his thoughts hidden.
Adrain stared at Viper intently, while patiently waiting for Viper to answer his question, Adrain continued to think of ways to get Erika out of Viper’s thoughts.
On the other hand, Viper contemplated his answers before he denied the truth faster than he’d imagined, "No. I’m not in love with you Erika."
"Then why are you acting this way?" Adrian asked him, not willing to buy his reply because he couldn’t believe it after Viper’s sudden outburst.
With gritted teeth, Viper tried as much as possible to gulp down his saliva before he replied. "I’m only acting this way because it’s very dangerous for you to leave this city with Erika. You could get caught. Just because those brothers of hers are no longer under your nose, it doesn’t mean that they are not doing whatever they can to get Erika out of your grasp. Just think about it."
Viper tried to explain his intentions and for a split second, he wondered why he was explaining this to his right-hand man. He was the boss and whatever he said was what would prevail but he was afraid that Adrain could marry Erika and leave the city. The fear of not being able to see her again frightened him to the core and that alone surprised him.
"And also, if you decide to leave, who is going to help me around here? Are you forgetting that you are my right-hand man?" He questioned Adrain.
The latter stared at him for a few seconds, pondering if he should believe Viper or not. The reasons were quite understandable but he still couldn’t get the way Viper glared at him a while ago out of his system. Probably because that was the same look that he got from Adrain right before the former Walters mansion exploded before his eyes.
"Boss, you shouldn’t worry about anything. Once I and Erika are married, I can start working from there," he said but Viper instantly shook his head in objection.
"That’s not possible. You are not going to leave this city and that’s it," said Viper.
Sighing, Adrian nodded in agreement. "If that’s it then okay. We will just spend our honeymoon here in the city then."
Resisting the urge to punch Adrian across his face so that he could eat his words, Viper tried as much as possible to not do that but calm down instead.
"Why do you want to get married to Erika all of a sudden?" He asked because he felt that the sudden decision-making was quite suspicious. He only got out of jail that day and he’d already decided to get married to Erika too. What could he be thinking?
With a smile on his face, Adrian replied, "It’s very dangerous now and I fear that one day, someone will take her away from me especially Ethan so if that ends up happening, we can’t possibly be separated because we are already married. And that would be the worst news for Ethan," he smirked at the end of his sentence, completely in love with his new plan.
