Chapter 234: MANIPULATE
In the middle of his ranting, mamba ran out of the hideout and called out for Viper.
"Boss, Adrian just called and he said he’s still in the police station," he informed.
"So?"
Slightly taken aback by Viper’s nonchalant reply, Mamba cleared his throat before he continued.
"He said that his fingerprints had been taken and the results will come out tomorrow."
"So?" Viper repeated.
"Boss, his fingerprints had been taken because a gun had been found in the burnt mansion so the police want to know if it’s his or not," Mamba replied.
"Gun? I’m sure he can deal with it himself," Viper shrugged and intended to walk inside the hideout but was abruptly stopped by Mamba. "What is it?" He snapped, making a grown man like Mamba flinch in fear. He wasn’t in the very best mood to continue the conversation since all he wanted was for Adrian to rot in jail if possible.
"Boss, we need to get him out of three because if we don’t, he could spill out everything he knows about us to the police and they will start coming after us," Mamba tried to persuade Viper.
As much as he hated Adrian, mamba didn’t want to be brought down just like that. Because if Adrian was to spill out anything to the police, he would be chased by them and also get arrested which was the last thing that any of them wanted at the moment.
Viper decided to give it some thought. He didn’t want to help Adrian out anymore since it had already cost him his illegal business downfall. He wasn’t even sure if those gamblers wouldn’t spill the beans about anything connected to him to the police.
And now Adrain also had to come into the picture as a threat.
"Alright, it’s either you help him escape from jail or you sneak in and change the results of the fingerprints," he suggested through gritted teeth. The last thing he wanted to do was to assist Adrian do anything but now here he was, doing it again just to save his butt.
"I think it would be better if we change the result because if he tried to help him escape from the jail, it could turn out unsuccessful and we will get jailed," Mamba explained as he calculated the possibilities. He also hated the fact that he was helping the person who snatched his position as the right-hand man of Viper.
"Do whatever and make sure you don’t get caught, else I will personally come to the station and slit your throats so that you won’t reveal anything about me," Viper warned before he strode inside the hideout.
Getting inside, Viper unlocked the suitcases that were filled with money and suddenly recalled something.
Going back to when he was following Erika in the mansion, while she tried to unlock that unknown door. He frowned. "What could have been behind that door?" He asked himself.
—
In the new hideout where Erika had been living for the past two days since she was shot in her leg, everything had suddenly turned gloomy in the environment. It was as if there was a fight that would break loose at any moment.
Ever since the day Felicia and Mary had their arguments, nothing was ever the same again and it wasn’t meant to be in the first place.
As usual, Erika was having her breakfast in the new dining room but this time she was alone. The whole house had turned quiet. If it had been the mansion that had already been burnt, then she would have assumed that they were probably in the other hallway gossiping.
But it was nearing noon and no one had been in sight, even Adrian. She hadn’t seen him since when he tried to kiss her but was called by Viper.
As her eyes darted around the whole place, Erika turned to Iza who stood at one corner, and asked, "Where are the others?" She asked.
"Boss is not in the house at the moment and the misses are probably having their private time," Iza replied respectfully but Erika wasn’t pleased with her reply.
She didn’t want them to have any peaceful private time for themselves at all. That wasn’t what she wanted. She wanted them to fight and argue but the opposite was happening.
For as long as I’m still here, I will make sure that those people lose their trust in each other, she promised herself.
"Take me to where Mary is," she instructed Iza.
"But mam, you are not done with your breakfast."
"I’m already full," Erika said before the maid could continue.
Iza nodded in understanding and pulled Erika away from the dining table before pushing her toward Mary’s room. As they got closer to the room, Erika suddenly stopped her.
"I would like to speak to Mary privately so can you excuse us?" she requested and Iza nodded again and left.
Erika made sure that Iza was no longer in sight before she pushed the wheelchair by herself toward Mary’s room.
When she was about to turn the doorknob, she paused her actions when she heard voices inside.
Slowly, she placed her ears on the door so that she could listen in clearly.
"But Mom, how can you seriously believe all the nonsense that Erika had said to you?" She heard Juliet’s voice in the room, probably reprimanding her mother for questioning her about all Erika had said to her. "She is only trying to manipulate you, Mom. It’s so obvious."
"Will you stop twisting words and answer me correctly? Did you already know that Felicia was a slut the time you used to visit me in jail?" Mary questioned her for the nth time. The fact that her daughter had been trying to sway her questions away only made her believe Erika even though she didn’t want to.
"Yes mum," Juliet sighed as she lowered her head. "Her videos spread like wildfire back then and everyone in the city knew about it. Even the scar on her face was from the women’s husbands that she had slept with," she added.
