Chapter 217: UNEASY
"So where could he be?" Daniel asked no one in particular. "Should we perhaps go inside the jungle?"
"That wouldn’t be a good idea. It’s already late at night and I’m sure that the wild animals have already started their hunt," Edward responded.
"Then what do we do? We know that Adrian passed this route but then he suddenly disappeared like a ghost," said Daniel.
"This was the same thing that happened the day that we followed him, he suddenly disappeared," Felix said this time.
"Let’s wait a few more minutes, if we aren’t able to see anything suspicious, we can leave," Edward suggested.
"Leave?! We can’t leave just like that!" Daniel objected to the idea.
"I know but what can we do? Should we enter the jungle? We don’t even know where that leads to plus, there are plenty of wild animals in there," Edward replied.
Daniel released a helpless sigh. If only they knew that Erika was in that same jungle they were looking at, and so was Adrian.
"What do you suggest Felix?" Daniel asked his elder brother.
Felix also released a helpless sigh before speaking,
"I don’t think it’s safe to head inside the jungle. It’s not safe and it’s already dark. How about we go back and wait for daytime, then we can return. I’m sure that Adrian doesn’t know we are here so hopefully, we can trail him when he goes back to the club and then we will know if he followed this path or not."
"If you say so," said Edward.

Inside the jungle, Adrian and his men were still searching around the place and there was still no progress yet.
"Boss, it’s already so late. I don’t think it’s still safe for us to be here," one of the bulky men said. They were in the jungle and it was already nighttime, the time that wild animals would start their hunt. They did love their job but not to the extent of wanting to get killed by an animal all in the name of a woman.
"Are you complaining?" Adrian questioned. "My whole body hurts but I’m not complaining or saying that we should go back. If you want to go back, just know that you are fired."
"But boss, I’m not complaining. If the wild animals come out to hun....."
"Then you shoot it," Adrian cut him off and started moving again as he gritted his teeth while trying to suppress the pain he felt in his body. "I swear, I’m going to teach Felix a lesson later for beating me up like this," he promised through gritted teeth.
Suddenly, they heard the growl of an animal and the men instinctively jumped in fear as they turned their attention to the direction where the growl had come from.
"That’s a wild animal," one of them said as fear gripped them. They heard the growl again and they couldn’t help but move away from there. "Boss, I think we won’t be able to find a miss if we stay here and get eaten by this wild animal."
Adrian stared at the place where the growl was coming from and couldn’t help but shake too. "Let’s go back," he ordered. "I’m sure Erika has not left the jungle yet since it’s a very large one," he added. He had already acquired injuries from a human, he didn’t want to worsen it by getting more injuries from a wild animal.

At the mansion, Felicia paced from one place to the other, making Juliet and Mary turn dizzy.
"Will you sit down for a bit? I’m sure that Adrian is going to be able to find Erika. Just like you said, there’s a jungle outside of these walls so I’m sure that she wouldn’t have gone far," said Mary. She was getting tired of watching Felicia pace about.
"I can’t sit down knowing that Erika is still out there. I want Adrian to find her and bring her back here so that I can teach her a lesson myself. She has the nerves to escape from here, she is going to get what’s coming for her," Felicia retorted as she bit her fingernails.
To her, if Erika can escape from here, there’s no doubt that she will go and see Ethan, and from there, they will come back together and inform the police about what she knows about this place. For her to be able to escape so easily, it only means that she knows every nook and corner of the mansion, Felicia thought to herself.
"But then, isn’t this what we’ve always wanted? To have Erika out of our lives?" Juliet suddenly asked and when she saw Felicia’s glare that was directed towards her, she clamped her mouth shut.
"We want Erika out of our lives for sure, but not for her to be happy afterwards. That bitch doesn’t deserve to be happy after what she has done to us," Mary replied. "Especially now she has revealed that she is the cause of everything that caused our family to be destroyed like this. She deserves to die."
"I think the three of us know what will happen if we try to kill Erika. Adrian will end us. Now come to think about it, I still don’t understand what he sees in her so much. He used to be disgusted with her and wanted her out of his life but look, he’s going to chase her," said Juliet with a frown.
Felicia clenched her fist when she heard Juliet. "Adrian is not chasing after her," she clarified. "He only wants to catch her because if she can successfully leave this place, she will inform the police about it and then we will be the ones who will be chased," she added. She checked the time and frowned deeply. Adrian had been gone for the past two hours. He shouldn’t be gone for this long if he had already found Erika. Does it mean that he hadn’t found Erika yet? She asked herself.
