Chapter 207: TALK
Erika sat on her side of the dining table and ate her meal. Adrian’s seat was empty which made her wonder where he was. Felicia, Juliet, and Mary arrived inside the dining room and as soon as Erika saw them, she immediately lost her appetite. She didn’t want to associate with them since they only knew how to bring trouble. When she’d arrived and saw the empty dining table, she’d thought she would be dining alone, and that made her happy. It gives her the time to think more wisely.
"How are you, Erika? Why are you eating alone?" Felicia casually asked Erika with such a friendly tone. It was the voice she always uses when she was about to say something rude afterward so Erika didn’t respond until she heard Felicia’s remaining words. "And where is Adrian? Why isn’t he here?"
"I don’t know," Erika replied.
"Did you bother to ask the maid about his whereabouts?" Felicia asked with a smile. Erika could tell that Felicia was up to something. It was abnormal for Felicia to talk to her in this manner without planning anything. Even if she was saying anything rude to her, she could tell that something bad was coming for her. When Erika didn’t respond to her but instead continued to stare at her, Felicia turned to the maid beside Erika and asked, "Where is Adrian?"
The maid bowed respectfully first before she responded, "I’m not sure mam, but he didn’t arrive last night."
"Hmm..." Felicia hummed. "Maybe he’s busy," she concluded. "Come and serve me," she ordered the maid and the latter quickly did as she was told.
Felicia stared at Erika from across the table and couldn’t be any happier than she already was because of what she had instored for Erika.
On the other hand, Erika’s brain ran wild as she tried to find a good possibility as to why Adrian didn’t arrive last night. Has he been arrested by the police? Did he get caught? Did Ethan catch him? She couldn’t come up with a good reason but she was going to stick with the first possibility. She was going to be free soon, she thought to herself. Amid her thinking, she didn’t realize Felicia’s eyes had been on her for a long time already.
When she felt the glare that was directed at her later on, she slowly raised her head and her eyes collided with Felicia’s who instantly revealed a smile that exposed her teeth.
"Do you want to take a walk with me, Erika? There’s something that I want to talk about," Felicia said.
"If there’s something you want to talk about, just say it here," Erika suggested. She was familiar with this truck since it was the same one she had used when she slipped Adrian’s phone inside Felicia’s pocket.
"Come on, Erika. Are you scared that I might do something to you?" Felicia asked with a faint smile. "Don’t worry, It will only be a talk. Who knows, now that Adrian is not around, I might decide to help you sneak out of here so that you can be with your lover again," she added.
Erika stared at Felicia in the eyes and could see that the latter was up to something and what made her confused was because Felicia didn’t bother to hide it. She didn’t bother with her and continued to eat her meal.
Both Mary and Juliet who’d been eating quitely immediately paused their spoons in midair when they heard Felicia.
"What are you saying, Felicia?" Juliet asked first. "Adrian never said anything about helping Erika sneak out of here."
Felicia nodded, "That’s right, but since her lover is awake why don’t we help her in reuniting the both of them? I’m sure she misses him."
Mary and Juliet glanced at each other with evident confusion written all over their faces. Why was Felicia acting so nicely? They wondered. They also had the same thought as Erika, she was up to something evil again. She was planning something against Erika. When Felicia turned to them and winked at them, they realized that they guessed right. Erika didn’t see the wink since her head was still lowered.
Joining in, Mary said, "Felicia is right, Erika. We’ve never sat down together and talked."
"That’s because we don’t need to. We aren’t related anymore and we also don’t share any good memories so there’s nothing for us to sit down and talk about," Erika cuts Mary off coldly. "You have your daughter-in-law sitting right in front of you so you should talk with her, not me," she added.
Mary released a sigh before she responded, "But that’s not enough reason for the both of us to not sit together and talk. You were still once my daughter in law so since we don’t any good memories, let’s make one."
"That’s right," Juliet added. "I didn’t get to spend much time with you back when you were still my sister-in-law so why don’t we do that now? Just like Felicia said, who knows, we might decide to sneak you out of here since Adrian isn’t around to stop that."
This was their time to bully Erika since Adrian wasn’t around. This was the moment that they’d been waiting for and they were going to make use of it.
Unbeknownst to them, Erika had already read through their thoughts. But it seems that they’d forgotten that she wasn’t the same Erika from the past. She has become much stronger and smarter and she wouldn’t let herself be stepped on anymore.
If they planned to bully her, she could do the same thing.
Since they want to create some special moments and memories, I will be sure to make it a memorable one for them, Erika thought to herself.
"If you guys want to make some memories and spend time together, then I guess we could do that. But wouldn’t it be better to wait for Adrian?" She asked.
Felicia sighed before she responded, "I think Adrian is going to take some time before he gets, and waiting for him is only going to waste our time." When she saw Erika nod, she added, "Great! In that case, we will go after breakfast."
