Chapter 169: GOING
"Tobias was monitored a few times but he seems clean, but if you want, we can have him monitored some more," the captain suggested.
Erika and Ethan shared a glance and Ethan responded as if he’d just read her thoughts,
"Have him monitored some more, captain."
The police captain answered by giving a brief nod of the head. "I will inform the commissioner."
The police captain and his team left the mansion and headed out to do their jobs. When they were out of sight, Ethan turned towards Erika.
"You doubt that Tobias could be the one helping Felicia," he didn’t ask but stated.
"It’s just a thought. The both of them can’t escape without any external help," she explained and everyone agreed.
As days passed, Felicia and Mary’s pictures surrounded the social media as the officials tried their best to find them. In the uncompleted building, Felicia was holding her son in her arms as she watched Tobias load the car with their pieces of luggage for their travel.
"I still find it a little hard to believe that Adrian finally accepted the baby as his," Tobias commented.
"He had to," she replied dryly.
Mary fetched their last bag and they made sure that they hadn’t left any sort of evidence around for the officers to find in case they discovered the uncompleted house they had been hiding in.
Madam Laura had been captured already after she moved back in with her men, not knowing it was Felicia who actually called the police on her and disposed of the SIM card right after. She didn’t want the woman to think she was free after she failed in her promise to help her torture Erika. So it was risky for them to stay in that place since she could rat them out to the police.
"Is that all, let’s leave before the police find out about this place," said Tobias.
After Adrian had wanted to meet his son, he decided to help Felicia leave the city and come to New York. Since he was the right-hand man of Viper, he held almost equal rights and could now boss the other men around.
In the car, Felicia noticed Mary’s uncomfortable face and asked,
"What’s wrong Mom?"
Mary glanced at Felicia before looking ahead of her and released a sigh. "You know that Adrian doesn’t want to see my face after the crimes I’ve committed, he also made it clear that he wasn’t going to help me so I’m worried that if he sees my face, he might lose his temper and call the police on me. I don’t want to go back to prison," she lamented her thoughts out loud.
"Don’t worry about that," said Felicia. "I will try to convince him," she added. Felicia didn’t have any strong connection with Grandma Elizabeth which was why she could accept the old woman’s death easily and accept her murderer. She had prayed that the old woman could just die and stop praising Erika all the time while she snorted in front of her face.
"I hope so," she replied.
It was in the middle of the night, which was the best time for them to travel. Adrian had instructed them not to go to the airport as it was too risky but instead, they should use the train.
They got to the train station and found so many trains on the railway track but not a single body roaming around the place.
"Which one will we be using?" Felicia asks with a frowny face.
All of a sudden, they heard some heavy steps coming from behind them. Instinctively, they turned back to find a man who was emitting a dark aura as he spoke,
"You will be taking this train," the man pointed at a train that was behind another. Without waiting for them to respond, he started walking towards the train but Felicia stopped him.
"Who are you?" she questioned him.
"Are you interested in finding out who I am or do you want to leave this place without the police catching up to you?" he questioned back with a raised eyebrow. Again, without waiting for them to say anything else, he continued to walk.
Felicia realized that the man wasn’t willing to reveal his identity. She wouldn’t have risked following him either if Adrian hadn’t mentioned that he would send someone who would help them out which made Felicia wonder, since when was Adrian financially able to send someone to help them out?
She waved Tobias goodbye and so did Mary. He couldn’t follow them since he had a family of his own and it would only make things even more difficult for him since the police were already on his trail.
The two women entered the train and it started to move.
This was it, Felicia thought to herself. She was going to the city that Erika was living in, she smirked triumphantly until the realization hit her and the smirk faltered, giving her a long face.
Adrian was taking them to New York since he was already there, and so was Erika.
"He had left for New York to pursue that woman!" she growled, waking up her sleeping son from his sleep.
The cries of the baby were like an annoying sound that irritated the man.
"Make that kid shut up already?" he demanded.
The two women flinched out of fear and tried to pacify the baby’s cry until he finally calmed down.
"What were you growling about earlier?" Mary asked her.
"Adrian didn’t come to pick us up personally because he was pursuing Erika," she replied. If only she knew that Adrian had avoided going to the city because of the men who were after his life.
"Possibly, but don’t act harshly here," said Mary before she pointed a finger at the scary man. "From the looks of it, I think that man might snap our necks right here and bury us somewhere since he looks quite irritated. Don’t say anything until we’ve arrived at our destination."
Felicia released a sigh but decided to listen to Mary. Whenever she remembers Erika’s face, she urge to destroy it awakes.
