Chapter 168: MONITOR
"I saw on the news that Erika’s brother will soon be getting married so I plan to abduct her there," he replied. It had just been aired on TV news that a date had been chosen for the wedding between Felix and Monica.
"Is that so?" Viper asked with an amused tone. "If you are asking for assistance from the men then go ahead," he gave his go signal.
Adrian was more than pleased when Viper finally approved but the next question that he asked led him into some thoughts,
"But what are you going to do with Ethan?"
Adrian picked up a pistol that had a tiger crafting on its metallic body and pointed it at a target placed further away in the room for practice.
"I will kill him", as soon as those words left his lips, he fired bullets at the target and hit the red dot. "I will kill him and things will become much easier for me. I will get Erika back and we will live happily ever after," he continued to dream.
Viper watched Adrain and chuckled but didn’t mention anything else.
Adrian glanced at Viper before he reloaded the pistol with another set of bullets. If only Viper had not been a totally difficult man to get rid of then he wouldn’t need to lower himself by asking for help from someone before he could abduct Erika.
If he killed Viper just like the way he’d killed the leader of the gang back then, he would surely be wasted. Viper was a notorious crime boss and gambling wasn’t his only business. He recruits lots of dangerous men every day and gets into all kinds of dangerous criminal acts, while on the outside, he is an airline ticket agent.
New York was the country he had come to to escape from the criminals back in California and if he committed another similar crime such as killing Viper, then at this point, he would never be at peace.
The criminals here were not easy to deal with and he couldn’t run away either. He wouldn’t be able to get back together with Erika anymore and also, he wouldn’t be able to leave the city easily.
So instead, he would just be the right-hand man, it was better than being an errand boy. His rank was higher than the other men and he could get power as well. He was already rich and all he needed was power which he now had.
Ethan was a powerful man indeed and hell would break loose if Erika was to be abducted right under his nose, which was why, to save himself from his wrath, it would be better to get rid of him and no one would be able to come in between him and Erika again.
He aimed the gun at the target again and closed one of his eyes to aim better. He imagined it to be Ethan’s head and he shot the bullet, hitting the red dot on it. The gunshot echoed in the room, making the birds napping in their nests wake up and fly for their lives.
’Erika Walters, my Erika. We will be together soon,’ he thought to himself.
In Anderson’s mansion, a few inspectors had arrived in the living room and were feeding some information to the family members.
"So officers, have you found out the whereabouts of Felicia and Mary Hart?" Felix questioned the officers.
Since the time that they had watched the news, the police had been asked by the family members to find out their whereabouts. If Felicia and Mary had not been against Erika before, then they wouldn’t have needed to personally search for her since that wouldn’t matter.
"Mr Walters, we have tried everything possible but we still can’t find out where she could have possibly hidden," a police captain replied. "We have contacted the authorities in California but they also haven’t heard of anything about the runaways. It seemed someone had been helping them," he added.
One of the officers brought out a laptop and played a video.
The police captain continued, "We were finally able to retrieve the videos from the CCTV cameras."
From the background of the video, one could see the fire that blazed in the building from the corners of the cameras.
Everyone focused their attention on the laptop screen as they watched the video play.
The shadows of three figures could be seen, sneaking away through the back entrance of the prison. Once they got out from there, the shadows disappeared.
"Wait! What happened to the other footage?" Ethan questioned the captain.
"Due to the explosion that occurred inside the prison, most of the CCTV cameras got burnt and this was the only one that captured the escape of the runaways," the police captain explained.
The single footage was repeated several times but nothing captured the direction they took after leaving the back entrance.
"So where do we go from here officer?" Ethan questioned.
"Well, the police officers in California have contacted both Mary and Felicia’s family members since that’s where we think they could have gone straight after they escaped from the prison but so far, they have reported not having heard about them yet," the captain responded. "Some police officers have been stationed around the Evans house and CCTV cameras to monitor their movements but nothing has been recorded so far," he added.
His words drove members of the family into some thoughts. If Felicia hadn’t visited her family after her escape, then where could she have gone? They all wondered.
"Who were the people who visited her the most when she was still in the police station?" Erika suddenly asked.
"According to the commissioner in California, it was her brother and mother who visited her the most," he replied.
"Did they check her brother as well, captain?" Erika asked next. She had only met Tobias a couple of times in the past and back then, he was the one who was always assisting his father when the old man was still a CEO. If her doubt was correct, then Tobias could be the one helping Felicia.
