Chapter 141: PEPPER SPRAY
’Who am I kidding? If I jump from here, I will be dead’ Monica thought to herself.
Monica decided to wait until they had reached and think of ways to leave the car before Jake would try to do anything to her.
Placing her phone back inside her purse, her hands touched a spray can. Surprised, she touched the body of the can until she remembered what that spray can contained, pepper spray. Sighing internally, Monica smirked and calmed down her nerves. She couldn’t use the pepper at that moment since they were still on the road as it could lead to an accident.
Jake noticed Monica had suddenly turned quiet and thought she had accepted her fate to be with him. Smiling like a fool, he decided to play some live music to fill the air.
Monica felt the speed of the car reduce and smirked to herself.
"You know, Jake. I appreciate the fact that you care for me so much. I mean, you were there for me when I was at my lowest point and I love you for that", Monica began when she noticed that they were about reaching Jake’s apartment.
"You love me?" he asked with a surprised look.
"Of course I do. You are my best friend and you did your best in trying to protect me from getting hurt by Felix. And I regret having ever broken up with you," she replied.
She turned her head to face him only to find him already looking at her. Frightened, she thought he had already seen through her lie. But when she saw him grin at her, she relaxed her racing heart.
Slowly, she raised her hand to touch his face before she added,
"If only you had explained to me in a much simpler way, then things wouldn’t have to get to this. I’m sorry for thinking you were a bad person".
"Don’t say that," he shushed her. "I should be the one apologizing for not being sensible."
Monica smiled and removed her hand from his face but the car finally arrived in front of his apartment.
Getting out of the car, Jake ran to the other side to open the door for Monica while she prepared the pepper spray. As soon as the door opened, Monica blasted the pepper spray on his face which prevented him from seeing anything as the content from the can hurt his eyes.
"Ahh!" he groaned in pain as he attempted to use his hands to rub away the content.
"You are really stupid if you think that I could ever love someone like you after you have come to this level of wanting to rape you. I will make sure I have you arrested", said Monica through gritted teeth as she stepped down from the car to head towards Jake.
Reaching into his pocket, she took out his phone, entered the car, and quickly locked herself in, preventing him from entering after the effects of the pepper spray had died down.
She opened the phone and the password bar showed up. Thankfully, she still remembers the phone’s password. She typed in the password and watched the phone unlock. Suddenly, she heard Jake bang his fist on the closed window but she couldn’t hear his words since the car was soundproof.
Ignoring his inaudible screams, she quickly dialed Felix’s phone number and waited for it to ring but the call was declined.
’Why would he decline the call?’ Monica hissed in annoyance.
She decided to text him instead and realized that Jake hadn’t texted him earlier as he had said. She quickly sent the message but there was no reply.
Annoyed, she decided to call him several times until he picked up.
Inside the expensive sports car, Felix was on his way to Monica’s location when he heard his phone ring. When he checked the caller and saw it was Jake, without a second thought, he quickly declined it. Then a text, saying ’he’ was at his apartment, and later, loads of calls landed.
Hissing in annoyance, he grabbed the phone to answer, "What is it?" he asked.
"It’s me, Monica. Jake tried to rape me but I was able to get away. I’m currently at his apartment, I’ve sent you the address, now come get me quickly," she ordered with a tone filled with urgency.
After hearing Monica’s words, Felix’s grip on the stirring wheel tightened out of anger. Like a flash, he turned the stirring wheels to change his direction and drive towards Jake’s apartment.
He got to the apartment to find Jake with red eyes, trying to unlock the car but failing since it was locked. "Don’t do this to me Monica, you know I love you", he heard Jake say.
With clenched fists and teeth gnashing against each other, Felix walked towards Jake with long strides and landed a big, heavy punch on his face and the other staggered back until he fell on the ground.
When Monica saw Felix’s appearance, she couldn’t be happier.
She stepped down from the car and ran to give him a big hug. "You are here, thank God", she said.
"I’m sorry that am late", he apologized.
The sight of the bodies intimately hugging each other vexed Jake so much that he abruptly sprang up from the floor and launched an attack on Felix and the latter quickly pushed Monica away from him so that she wouldn’t be hit.
"You are a womanizer and a playboy, Felix", said Jake.
"Is that your best insult? Oof, try harder next time," said Felix as he dodged the attack swiftly and Jake ended up falling on the ground again. This time, face flat. "Have you called the police?" he asked Monica and she answered,
"Yes, I already did. They are on their way".
Walking towards Jake, who was trying to help himself get up, Felix landed another punch on the sides of his ribs, "You have to nerve to want to rape my girlfriend, you fucker. I’m going to make you pay".
