Chapter 174: Training
"Alright! It’s done."
Brian stood up from his chair and he noticed the sun slowly raising from the east. There was a small transparent cover on the eastern part of his tent like a window.
He stretched out his hands and walked out of his tent. He saw a few people cultivating outside the tent while some were still inside.
"Good Morning, everyone!"
Brian smiled as he spoke and walked around.
"Commander seems to be in a good mood. I wonder what happened last night." A few cultivators who were closer to each other started gossiping.
"We all know what happened."
"But, I think Miss is still in her tent. I saw her going inside her tent last evening."
"You got to be kidding me. How could the commander not invite her during the night?"
"Hey, keep your voice low."
’These guys.’ Brian couldn’t tell whether they were inherently dumb or if it was a cultivation that made them dumb. As a cultivator, the first thing that he needed to cultivate was a Spiritual Sense.
Using the spiritual sense, he could easily sense anything around him and also heightened his other five senses. Instead of making it active, he made it a passive ability so that he would be aware of dangers.
But, he felt embarrassed by listening to their words. Last night, he was working from the evening to the morning. He was even able to finish his gears thanks to that.
He was feeling happy because he was able to finish them. He didn’t expect them to think about his expression and link it with his personal satisfaction of desires.
This was a problem with him. He wanted to remove this problem but right now, he couldn’t control himself from separating his work life from his love life.
He was too focused on one or another. But more importantly, he was too focused on work-life than his love life. If he could focus more on his love life, he would be personally satisfied.
Right now, that was impossible. He had to focus on creating a perfect system that allows him to do such things as rest. And, so he never thought of resting before creating it.
He wanted to take a rest. Unlike those people who needed to work for a living, he had no problems with earning or even protecting his loved ones.
All he wanted to do was to protect his loved ones. But right now, the number of his loved ones has increased. He even loved his birthplace, earth. So, obviously, he wanted to protect it.
If the problem were as low as Dragon Lord, he wouldn’t have any problem dealing with them. But, since the problem was himself or rather an alternative version of himself, he couldn’t relax until he creates something that could counter even himself.
Because he didn’t have any desire to oppose himself nor did he have the power to do so.
’Anyway, I just need to focus on one thing at a time. Right now, my job is to train these people. So, I will just focus on it.’
Brian turned around and entered his tent. After a while, he came out with a weird-looking device. For the people of the cultivation world, it was weird but for Brian, it was just a drone.
"Woah! What is this, commander? Is it some sort of secret weapon?" One of the disciples curiously asked. She seemed intrigued by the drone.
"It is called a drone. It will hover in the sky and scan the surrounding. I have installed thermal detection so even if a person hides his figure or even if it is night, that person would be detected by these."
"They have built-in high signaled antenna mic which allows it to record the voice within half a kilometer. It also has pill based battery which means it works on the energy of a pill."
"Each energy pill can keep it performing for a week so we don’t have anything to worry about. More importantly, it has something even more interesting."
Saying so, Brian touched the watch he was wearing on his left wrist. A dark panel appeared on the display with only four options.
Fly / Receive / Trace / Command
He clicked on ’Fly’ and four drones that were on the ground started spinning their small fans. The fan didn’t produce even a little bit of sound. The drone slowly flew up in the air and moved in four different directions.
When they flew, Brian passed on the Command option. Suddenly, a mic icon appeared on his watch.
"Activate, Omni-Direction Light Panels"
"It’s time to disappear."
The small drones slowly started to vanish in front of those disciples’ eyes.
"What? It can disappear. Commander, why can’t I it? Doesn’t it have a power source?" The same disciple asked with confusion on her face.
"Because I hid the power source with another array. Unlike us, it is a machine so it doesn’t produce any kind of smell either. Which means right now, you can’t sense it, see it, hear it, or even smell it."
"So, what do you think about drones? It will keep us updated about our surrounding while we keep on training." Brian proudly answered and asked.
"It’s amazing. Commander, how did you learn to create such a thing?" That same girl curiously asked. She seemed to have gotten a bit bolder as she was even holding his arm.
Suddenly, Brian felt extremely powerful killing intent from behind. He let go of her hand and pressed ’Track’ on his watch.
"Now, we can leave it. We will constantly get reports of any other creatures except for Spirits. Since I didn’t possess Spirit’s DNA, I couldn’t make it detect the Spirit."
"So, it will give us the same reaction when it meets humans and spirits."
"Ohh! That’s amazing." The fan girl didn’t stop praising him and trying to get close to him. But, Brian quickly escaped from her grasp and rushed toward Cao Ping.
"When did you come out of your tent? You didn’t even come forward when I was introducing everyone to my latest invention." Brian tried to make a conversation but it was very awkward for him.
"Humph!" Cao Ping simply pouted and refused to answer.
’This jerk. I was waiting for him to come for the entire night but not even once, he didn’t even come out of his own tent once. How could someone be so obsessive with something?’
’Even if we are obsessed with cultivation, we are only obsessed with it because we know cultivation would lead us to eternal life. We will get more time to leave with the people we care about.’
’But, his interest is completely different. Even if it was useful for us, couldn’t he wait and take his time while creating it?’
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She turned around and left for her tent. Seeing her leaving in anger, Brian held the back of his head and tilted his head again.
’Come on, again?’
Brian helplessly chased after her but after nearly one hour, he came out with a satisfied expression. The disciples were already scattered around. So, he had to call them at the front.
"Alright, now that drones are performing well, we can start our training. First thing first, I want to make sure that you guys are ready for a powerful training session because my training is a bit different than normal training."
Hearing his words, the disciples didn’t get nervous but excited. They were extremely excited to get stronger. And, they knew Brian was one of the most intelligent people whom even the elders admire.
"There are several cultivation techniques and martial arts in your arsenals but what it does is that it creates a lot of branches. Do you know when you start multitasking, you start to lose something that you are good at?"
Hearing his words, one of the disciples raised his hand and asked.
"Commander, are you telling us to abandon other cultivation techniques or martial arts and focus on one?"
Brian shook his head and said.
"What I want you to do is turn your active ability into passive? It would be harder to understand with words so I will just demonstrate to you."
Brian raised his hands and opened his palms. A bright red flame appeared on his palms. It looked completely normal.
"Alright, everyone, use your spiritual sense and find out where the flame is coming from. Find the source of these flames."
The disciples were a bit confused but they followed his words. They started to look into his body but they couldn’t see any source connecting to his palm. He wasn’t blocking their vision with his true essence so they were able to see the energies inside him.
But, they didn’t see any pattern that held the true essence in his palm.
"When you looked into my body, you must have noticed something. You couldn’t see the true essence inside my body especially flowing out to my palm."
"Do you know why?"
A silence emerged in the crowd. Because they didn’t understand how this was possible. At this moment, one of the disciples raised his hand and asked.
"Commander, do you perhaps possess a Fire-related physique?"
Brian shook his head and said.
"No, I don’t. Actually, what you see is the truth. I am not using true essence to create the flames nor am I manipulating the Fire Law."
"What I am doing is creating fire out of my stamina."
Hearing his words, everyone widened their eyes and shouted.
"How is that even possible, commander?"
