Chapter 428: Chapter 259: I Am a One-Man Army
With that, he turned his horse to leave.
"Sir, you alone can’t be the equivalent of an entire army!" Nathan was extremely anxious, his worry written all over his face. He was clearly afraid something would happen to Fang Zhen.
It wasn’t that he and Fang Zhen were particularly close friends. Rather, the entire Whig Society now knew that Fang Zhen could bring them the key ingredients for the Blood Burst Secret Medicine. And the Blood Burst Secret Medicine was the most critical trump card that could tip the scales of power in the struggle between the Whig Society and the Eternal Night Council.
Under these circumstances, the members of the Whig Society, who had been suppressed by the abnormals for so long, truly didn’t want to see Fang Zhen take any risks or suffer any harm.
Fang Zhen just smiled without explaining. With his longspear in hand, he turned his Red Hare Warhorse.
"I alone am an army," Fang Zhen stated.
Then, without a backward glance, he charged off in the opposite direction from which the three Warriors had come.
Seeing Fang Zhen gallop away, a lone rider vanishing into the distance, the three Warriors stood there and looked at each other in dismay.
"What do we do?" the short-haired female Warrior asked.
Nathan glanced around. One of the horses had a broken leg and couldn’t go on; it was struggling in agony.
Nathan gritted his teeth, drew his shortsword, and plunged it into the horse’s neck, ending its suffering.
Nathan pulled out his blade, stood up, and looked back at his companions. "We have two horses left. Sarah, you ride back to Lanxi City and report what happened here, and also the news that Sir Fang Zhen has arrived."
"Mazov and I will return to Roundwood Town to assist Fang Zhen in aiding Pat the Curse Sealer."
A look of grim resolve, of one prepared to die a noble death, appeared on Nathan’s face.
...
Fang Zhen galloped onward.
In just a few minutes, he could already see the village ahead.
The village wasn’t large, home to perhaps one or two hundred people. It was surrounded by tropical trees, flowers, and plants, creating a scene brimming with life.
But now, the village was strewn with human corpses lying haphazardly about.
And the figures of abnormals could be seen moving ceaselessly through the trees.
As soon as Fang Zhen entered the village’s perimeter, he immediately focused his senses, his vigilance at its peak.
He followed the road into the village, advancing quickly on horseback.
Suddenly!
From the trees on both sides of the village entrance, two Abnormal Ghosts and a Ghost-faced Spider leaped down, pouncing on Fang Zhen.
Without even looking, Fang Zhen swept his longspear. A transparent, vibrating ripple of the Fourth-stage Power Mountain Seal appeared.
The two Abnormal Ghosts and the Ghost-faced Spider were instantly sent flying by the Li Shan Seal: Sky Splitting. Their bodies broke apart in mid-air, splattering blood and viscera all over the ground.
Fang Zhen, meanwhile, had already galloped seven or eight meters away.
After riding into the village, Fang Zhen quickly noticed the war fortress Nathan had mentioned.
The war fortress was a unique structure compared to the surrounding residences. It looked like a semicircle, somewhat resembling a tomb, but it was a stone fortress with enough space inside to hold several dozen people.
Currently, more than twenty Abnormal Ghosts and Ghost-faced Spiders were surrounding the fortress. Among the abnormals, Fang Zhen even spotted a Black Armored Fierce Ghost.
Though mentally cautious, Fang Zhen felt not a shred of fear. He charged straight forward on his horse.
Just then, he heard someone shouting from within the fortress. The voice sounded quite familiar.
Fang Zhen didn’t let his attention waver. Spurring his horse, he plunged into the horde of abnormals.
He wasn’t deliberately showing off his strength; he was using this real battle to test the effects of his newly learned skills.
He galloped freely, his longspear brandished in wide, powerful sweeps, cutting a swath through his enemies.
His Red Hare Warhorse was a Crystal Bone Beast, so there was no question of it being spooked. As it charged through the abnormals, if any were knocked to the ground by Fang Zhen’s spear, the Red Hare would actually stomp on them, delivering a fatal blow with its hoof.
Fang Zhen’s spear moved like a dragon, man and horse as one. Like an ancient beast, he carved through the swarm of abnormals and back again in the blink of an eye.
During these two charges, Fang Zhen’s longspear would sometimes sweep wide, sometimes tap lightly. At other times, he would gently pat an abnormal’s head with the tip of his spear. Yet, no matter how they were touched by his weapon, an instant later, the abnormals’ bodies would explode as if a powerful force had detonated within them.
In just a few breaths, Fang Zhen had killed the vast majority of the abnormals surrounding the war fortress.
And with that, he had tested the power of his newly acquired skills.
The Gangrou Realm of the Power Mountain Seal was very different from the second stage’s "Mountain Breaker." It had no special tell when used, yet its force completely surpassed it.
Fang Zhen was using his longspear to execute the Gangrou Realm of the Power Mountain Seal. If he were to use his body, he could touch someone with his shoulder or even his calf, using his body as a weapon to covertly trigger the Power Mountain Seal’s ability and effect at the moment of contact.
This destructive power was also far more subtle. What looked like a light tap was actually a force that penetrated to the bone marrow. To be touched was to die; to be grazed was to perish.
Just like with the abnormals before him, a light touch from Fang Zhen’s longspear was enough. The Abnormal Ghosts would suffer what seemed to be a disproportionately powerful attack, being destroyed as if they were made of paper mache.
And the Sky Splitting ability of the Fourth-stage Power Mountain Seal had at least two uses.
One was a wide sweep, like the one Fang Zhen often used, which would create a large wave of power—formless yet tangible. Any abnormal caught in this Sky Splitting wave would be torn apart like a dead leaf in a gale.
The other method was a series of rapid thrusts with the spear, which would shoot out Sky Splitting attacks akin to an air cannon. The range was narrower, but the power was far more concentrated.
If an Abnormal Ghost was hit by one of these Sky Splitting thrusts, a large, bloody hole would instantly appear in its chest. A hit to the head would blow it clean off.
