Chapter 261: Ch 261: Records
Everyone gave Rin a look of wonder, but Mira and Kyle looked a little worried.
"Are you sure you would be able to do it? This building is not exactly small...and the ice could melt..."
Mira pointed out with a doubtful look on her face. Her eyes kept drifting toward the huge building in front of her, but Rin was not saying this without confidence.
In fact, the system had given him another mission, and that was why he was confident about sealing this place up.
[New Mission: Use your ice powers to seal the abandoned lab.
Reward: New power unlocked - Ice of Eternal Flames. Any flames cast by this skill will solidify into ice and cannot be melted by ordinary means.]
The skill was good, and Rin wanted it. So he took a deep breath and, before anyone could protest, he enclosed the lab in front of him in ice. Now, no one would be allowed to go in there.
It took Rin a lot of energy to enclose the whole structure, and he had to take two potions (and accept Reina’s help) to keep himself steady enough to finish. But he somehow managed to do it in time.
"Alright, it’s time to head back. You can sleep on the way back, Rin."
Kyle announced, and Reina grabbed him before anyone else could.
She forced Rin to lie down in the back and put his head on her lap. Her skillful fingers massaged Rin’s head, and he felt sleepy.
"This feels nice..."

He whispered before he closed his eyes and went to sleep. He did not notice the small blush on Reina’s face. But he did notice the angry glare Shelly was leveling at Reina.
’I need...to resolve this situation...’
Rin yawned as those thoughts started circling in his head. But he fell asleep the next second, unable to resolve anything.
__________
The air was tense inside the car. Everyone looked at Reina with a startled expression, but it was Shelly who actually reached out to grab Reina.
But Reina decided to answer the unasked question before Shelly could make a fuss about it.
"I am just checking up on Rin’s condition. He looks exhausted, so I just want to make sure everything is alright with him. Do you have a problem with it?"
She asked Shelly, expecting her to back down. But Shelly just looked her in the eyes and answered her question.
"Yes, I do have a problem with it, and that is you holding Rin. If you want to check up on him, then you can do it while he is in my arms."
Shelly told Reina, wanting to take Rin. But Reina decided to hold her ground this time.
"The reason I did not hand Rin over to you is because your powers will interfere with my reading. For now, it would be best if Rin remained in my arms."
Reina pointed out, and Shelly looked ready to chew her up. But she decided that there was no point in forcing an answer out of Reina.
At least, not while she still had Rin and was focused on healing him.

"Tsk, fine! But you better make sure Rin is alright. If you neglect him or cause him any harm, I will make sure to end you in a place where no one will find you."
Somehow, no one doubted that Shelly would be able to pull something like this off. Even Reina knew that her life was in danger.
But weirdly enough, she did not mind it. She...was looking forward to it more than anything.
__________
They all reached their settlement within two days, but Rin remained unconscious for most of the trip. The reason he gave the others was that he was too exhausted.
But in reality, he was absorbing the new core he had gotten.
He could feel its power humming beneath his skin, and for the first time in his life, he did not feel human. He felt detached from this world, and everything seemed so far away from him.
But slowly, he started to pull himself together and respond to his surroundings once more.
The first thing he noticed was that the number of people in the settlement had increased while he was away.
"Aren’t there more people here now?"
Rin knew this for a fact because of his skill.
[Leader (lvl 3 - 2,010/2,000 followers). Next Milestone - 5,000 followers]
There had been barely over 800 people when he left, and now the number had jumped to over 2,000?
Collin answered him immediately.

"Most of these people are from other places who came here in search of a settlement. Now that the borders have opened up, we are expecting an even larger influx of people to come and join us soon."
Collin pointed out, but Rin did not feel much of anything at this news. He did not even feel excited about having more people around.
Thinking rationally, it was not always a good idea to have a sudden influx of people flooding the settlement.
"What about the food and housing issue? Has that been resolved?"
Rin asked, and the butler nodded his head.
"The next few months will not be easy for us if we keep getting a steady stream of people like this. But it should not be unmanageable either. We raided a few large storage units, so we have food and clothes for now. We should be able to last until we have a steady supply of our own."
Collin pointed out, and Rin nodded.
It seemed like things had been planned out nicely, so there should not be any problems for the time being...
"Miss Reina made the plans for how we should handle this situation. I have to say that she has been more than helpful this whole time. Making friends with her was the right choice for you, Young Master."
Collin pointed out, and he almost made it sound as if Rin had become friends with Reina because of her usefulness...which was true. But hearing it from someone else made him feel weird.
So he buried his feelings and decided to head back to his office. On the way, he spotted Reina instructing others on what to do. Her face looked flushed, and she looked tired.
Reina...did not look like she was alright.
