Chapter 260: Ch 260: No longer human

Shelly and Rin reunited once he had the core, but the calamity became even more unstable, causing Rin to create a barrier of ice to protect himself and Shelly.

Thankfully, his ice held on long enough to contain the calamity and absorb the explosion that was about to happen.

However, it exhausted him to handle the situation alone, and his legs gave out beneath him.

The system warned Rin, and he looked at it with a bitter expression.

’Rest? I have no time to rest. I need to keep going...’

But his body refused to move, causing Rin to let out a sigh.

Luckily, he had Shelly to help him around, and she helped him sit against the wall.

"Rin, does anything hurt? Can I help you in any way?"

Shelly had a panicked expression on her face, which made Rin feel guilty. He had not expected to cause Shelly such panic.

"I will go and drag Reina here, so you-"

Rin grabbed her hand and pulled her into a semi-hug. He could only manage this much with his current strength, but Shelly’s warmth made him feel a lot better than before.

Shelly made a noise of confusion but quickly settled against him without moving.

"Just let me remain like this for a few more minutes. This is helping me out a lot."

Mira did not ask Rin for the room, but rather demanded it from him with her authoritative voice. Rin had no intention of stopping her either.

But he did not want Shelly to see these records and become upset because of them. So he silently placed them into his inventory, intending to bury them.

"Rin, what did you find? Are these records left behind by my mother? Do you want me to take a look?"

Shelly asked in a curious voice, and Rin shook his head.

"There is no need for that. These records are not worth your time or effort."

Rin pointed out, and Shelly looked even more curious about the notes. But she must have realized what kind of notes these were for Rin to refuse to let her see them, and she decided to follow his lead.

"Alright, I got it. I won’t look at these notes since you don’t want me to."

Shelly told Rin and dropped the topic after that. There was no point in continuing it anymore either.

"Ah! Finally! I got all the data that I needed. We can destroy this facility now...or maybe sealing it would be a better choice. What do you think, Rin? What do you want to do?"

Mira asked in a happy voice. She seemed content after obtaining more information.

Rin looked at the facility in front of him and quickly made a decision.

"I am going to bury this place under ice. That way, we can preserve it and also make sure no one will be able to enter it."
