Chapter 189: Yaroth in chains

Unlike before, when Kael looked distinctly like a relatively young, juvenile dragon with softer features, he now looked exactly like a fully matured, terrifying dragon of legend, complete with menacing, slit golden eyes that radiated a chilling, predatory intelligence.

The roundness of his youth had been completely replaced by sharp, angular lines and a hardened jawline that looked capable of snapping heavy iron bars in half with a single bite.

Those piercing golden eyes held a ancient depth that could easily freeze a lesser warrior in place from fear alone.

The two prominent horns sitting proudly on top of his head had also grown significantly larger and thicker, pointing upwards sharply toward the ceiling like twin black daggers.

Even with Kael bending his long neck down so much to accommodate the dimensions of the suite, the sharp tips of his newly grown horns almost touched the decorated ceiling.

The black daggers of bone hovered just a fraction of an inch away from the premium plaster, threatening to gouge deep, ugly scars into the beautiful guild craftsmanship with the slightest sudden movement.

The massive dragon looked completely cramped, his heavy shoulders squeezed tightly between the bed frame and the walls as he carefully balanced his weight, looking completely out of place inside the structured confines of human civilization.

Seeing how visibly uncomfortable and restricted Kael truly was within the tight boundaries of the room though, Noah smiled wryly.

"This large room is so small for you now... why not just go back into the shadow for a little while, Kael? You’ll definitely come out again when we are in a place with far more open space." he thought.

He didn’t want his newly evolved familiar to accidentally break the grand guildmaster’s property or suffer from a stiff neck before they even had a chance to test out his new abilities.

Kael was a little reluctant to leave his master’s side so soon after his massive transformation, his slit golden eyes flashing with a faint look of protest as he let out a low, rumbling huff that vibrated through the floorboards.

He wanted to spend more time showing off his magnificent new scales and absolute height, but he also knew that remaining wedged inside the luxury bedroom was an incredibly awkward situation.

Accepting the logic of the suggestion, his massive body eventually softened, and he sunk back down into the dark, liquid pool of Noah’s shadow, his towering form dissolving smoothly into the darkness until the room was completely empty once more.

He then asked through their mental link, "Now that you’ve successfully broken through and become a legendary supreme magus, what exactly is the main plan now, master? Is it finally time... for total world domination?!"

Kael first thought now that they were finally the strongest in the world, with no one to stop them, was that they were going to systematically crush every kingdom on the continent and force humanity to bow down to their absolute authority.

Noah chuckled softly at the dragon’s wild, highly aggressive ambitions, shaking his head slightly as he walked away from the edge of the bed.

He answered back through their mental link, saying with a calm, amused smirk, "No... there is absolutely not going to be any world domination, Kael."

He found it very funny that his familiar’s first instinct upon gaining a massive surge of power was to conquer the mortal races, but Noah had far more critical, world-saving matters to attend to than playing the role of a tyrannical conqueror.

If anything, there wouldn’t even be a physical world left for them to dominate anyway if the demons’ plans actually worked out and the terrifying demon lord successfully consumed the entire earth.

A conquered empire was completely useless if the very ground beneath their feet was reduced to a barren, life-drained rock drifting through the endless void of space.

The enemy forces weren’t looking to play political games or collect tax money from human subjects; they were a cosmic infection that intended to wipe every living soul out of existence.

Such a horrific, world-ending situation was, after all, the exact catastrophic outcome that he was working so tirelessly to avoid from the very moment he began his rapid magical journey.

His aggressive hunt for levels, his dangerous cultivation sessions, and his constant pushing of his own physical boundaries were all done to build a defense strong enough to shatter the descending shadow.

He wasn’t collecting power to rule over a broken kingdom of ashes; he was collecting power to ensure there was a future left to experience.

Focusing his thoughts back on the immediate tasks at hand, his expression hardened into one of cold, unwavering determination as he prepared to leave his quarters.

’First... let’s go visit Yaroth in his prison cell.’ he thought.

A few minutes later, the comfortable luxury suite and the quiet hallways of the upper guild headquarters were completely left behind as Noah was now standing directly in front of a thick, massive black cage hidden deep within the high-security underground levels of the facility.

The air down here was heavy, cold, and thoroughly saturated with potent suppression arrays designed to neutralize any form of dark magic, creating a grim atmosphere that felt entirely detached from the bustling life of the capital above.

In that heavily reinforced cage, chained all the way from his dark horns to his neck, down to his hands, and even around his heavy legs, was Yaroth.

The once-proud demonlooked completely battered and broken against the cold stone wall, his physical body entirely bound by thick, rune-carved iron links that hummed with a constant, draining energy to keep his volatile attributes entirely locked away.

He sat in the dark corner of his cell, his breath rattling weakly in his chest as he sensed the sudden arrival of the mysterious human who had completely dismantled his forces.

Noah stepped closer to the bars, his calm blue eyes sweeping over the complex arrangement of restraints that bound his prisoner from head to toe.

Noah honestly felt that going as far as chaining the demon’s horns was rather unnecessary, but given just how much the adventurer guild absolutely dreaded the terrifying prospect of him somehow breaking free, it was entirely to be expected.
