Chapter 510: The Celestial Dress
(Long Chapter)
But then Marcus found himself wondering: if his women could become immortals through the Olympian Jade Art, and he was cultivating Human Rock, did that mean he would eventually become an immortal too? Would the day come when they could all soar through the heavens together? The thought left him strangely restless.
Since Human Rock had been able to break Lady Rouyu’s seal, it obviously wasn’t just some advanced martial art. It had to be an immortal cultivation technique. That would explain why, after barely a year of training, he’d already been able to overpower the ice-cold Crystal Nance, a martial artist who had spent more than twenty years honing her skills. Still, one question lingered in his mind: how did Human Rock compare to the Olympian Immortal Art? He could only hope his progress wouldn’t fall behind the women he cared about.
Poor, oblivious Marcus. He had finally realized that Human Rock was an immortal cultivation method, yet he still had no idea just how extraordinary it truly was. He didn’t know that thanks to his unique talent, constitution, and the first eruption of the Celestial Prismatic Jade, he had already stepped into the realm of Divine Sense, a level many immortal cultivators could only dream of reaching.
Turning his attention back to the Langhuan Immortal Ring, he discovered an enormous collection of immortal fruits. Dates, peaches, pears, and countless others filled the space, well over three thousand in total. They were probably Lady Rouyu’s personal stockpile.
There was also an impressive collection of medicinal herbs, many of which he’d only ever seen in books. Thousand-year ginseng, snow lotus, lingzhi mushrooms, and countless other miraculous ingredients were neatly stored away. Quite a few of them were completely unfamiliar to him. Now this was something he could actually use.
Without wasting any time, he picked up a peach for a closer look. It was plump, perfectly ripe, and looked as though it had just been picked from a heavenly orchard. A steady stream of spiritual energy flowed from its skin, and every other fruit in the ring carried the same vibrant vitality.
The Langhuan Immortal Ring truly deserved its reputation. Even after lying sealed away for more than a thousand years, everything inside remained as fresh as the day it had been stored. His attention naturally settled on the peaches.
"Could these actually be the legendary peaches of immortality?" He muttered, recalling something he had read before quickly shaking his head. That couldn’t be right. Those peaches were supposed to be priceless treasures beyond compare, yet there were at least three hundred of them here. There was no way Lady Rouyu had casually kept that many.
Even so, whether they were immortal peaches or immortal dates, they almost certainly possessed incredible medicinal properties. If they could extend his and his women’s lives by decades, that alone would make them priceless. Feeling pleased with his luck, Marcus took a bite.
The flesh was unbelievably sweet and juicy, practically melting in his mouth. The moment he swallowed, a warm current of energy spread throughout his body.
He immediately circulated Human Rock, guiding the energy through his meridians. Before long, he could clearly feel his internal energy becoming noticeably stronger. The effects were excellent.
At the very least, he was now certain these weren’t legendary peaches. If they had been, their effects would’ve been far more outrageous.
As he continued exploring the ring, he discovered something even more astonishing: three magnificent mountains floated within the space, surrounded by birds that glided freely through the skies. Nearby rested two vast lakes whose waters shimmered like polished jade, while two elegant pavilions stood hidden within drifting layers of mist. They looked less like objects and more like entire immortal realms that Lady Rouyu had somehow sealed inside the ring with unimaginable power.
Unfortunately, Marcus wasn’t nearly strong enough to make proper use of them.
If his cultivation reached a higher level, he wouldn’t even need to release the mountains or lakes into the outside world. He could project his consciousness directly into them and explore everything they contained. More than anything else, those mist-covered pavilions stirred his curiosity.
For now, however, all he could do was observe from above, like someone standing atop a distant mountain, catching only vague glimpses of an unreachable landscape through rolling clouds.
He couldn’t help wondering just how enormous those mountains really were, how much they weighed, and if he ever released all three at once, would they be enough to crush an entire city beneath them? The thought made him grin.
If he ever became powerful enough to pull that off, he’d definitely find some uninhabited island in the middle of nowhere and see what happened. There was no reason to flatten a city just to satisfy his curiosity.
Satisfied that he’d explored everything he could for now, Marcus finally withdrew his consciousness from the Langhuan Immortal Ring.
It hadn’t contained quite as many legendary treasures as he’d secretly hoped. There were no earth-shattering divine artifacts lying around waiting for him to claim.
Still, discovering a treasure like this out of nowhere was already a blessing beyond anything he’d expected. It was fine to be ambitious, but greed should have limits. Knowing when to be satisfied was just as important; contentment, after all, was its own kind of happiness.
Just as he was about to take the furniture he’d stored inside the ring back out, Willow Moran walked out of the kitchen, her graceful, mature figure appearing in the doorway.
"Marcus, dinner’s ready..." She stopped mid-sentence; the living room was almost completely empty. Aside from the couch Marcus was sitting on, every piece of furniture had vanished.
Willow blinked in confusion before looking around the apartment, genuinely wondering if she’d somehow walked into the wrong one.
"Marcus... what happened?"
She hurried over and instinctively grabbed his arm. Simply standing beside him made her feel more at ease.
"Heh..." Marcus couldn’t help smiling at her bewildered expression.
"An immortal stopped by," he said with a perfectly straight face. "He said he’d noticed how ridiculously handsome and talented your man was, so he wanted to recruit me to the celestial realm."
Sliding an arm around her slender waist, he continued with complete seriousness.
"But I told him there was no chance I’d leave my beautiful wife behind. The immortal got angry, snapped all our furniture out of existence, and threatened to erase me next if I still refused."
"Ah!"
Willow gave a tiny gasp, though the amusement dancing in her eyes told Marcus she’d already realized he was teasing her.
"So," she asked with a smile, playing along, "weren’t you tempted? I hear the celestial realm is full of beautiful immortal maidens."
"What can I say?" Marcus sighed dramatically before leaning down to steal a kiss from her soft lips. "I admitted that celestial maidens sounded appealing... but I told him my own woman was even more beautiful."
"And then the immortal left?"
"As if it were that easy." Marcus became even more animated. "He said I couldn’t be intimidated and couldn’t be tempted either. Then he got offended because I claimed a mortal woman was prettier than an immortal. So I pulled out a photo of you." He lowered his voice conspiratorially. "The moment he saw it, he completely lost his composure. He stood there drooling before sighing, ’Better to envy devoted lovers than the immortals themselves.’"
Willow laughed softly. "And after that?"
"As if the story ended there." Marcus shook his head. "He destroyed the furniture. Did he really think I’d just let him leave? I grabbed his beard and refused to let go until he begged for mercy. In the end, he had no choice but to compensate us."
As he spoke, he reached into the Langhuan Immortal Ring and casually drew out one of Lady Rouyu’s elegant white gowns.
"So here it is. A genuine celestial dress for my beautiful wife."
Willow’s smile froze; this time, she wasn’t pretending to be surprised. Her eyes widened as she stared at the dress, then slowly looked back at Marcus.
"Marcus..." Her voice became noticeably quieter. "How... how did you pull that out of thin air?"
She instinctively reached for his hands, turning them over as though trying to figure out where he’d hidden it.
Marcus grinned from ear to ear. "I already told you," he said. "It’s a celestial treasure. Of course it doesn’t work like ordinary clothes."
Without giving her much time to protest, he helped her out of her casual clothes while shamelessly admiring the breathtaking figure he’d long since become hopelessly fascinated with. Unable to resist, he stole a few affectionate touches before carefully helping her into the elegant white gown.
The moment it settled over her body, Marcus knew he’d been right.
Willow had always possessed a rare combination of beauty, grace, and quiet dignity.
Now, wrapped in flowing white silk embroidered with delicate patterns, adorned with long ribbons and elegant ornaments that drifted gently through the air as though stirred by an invisible breeze, she looked utterly transformed.
The gown resembled something taken straight from ancient paintings of celestial beings. Combined with Willow’s mature elegance and natural charm, the effect was breathtaking. She no longer looked like an ordinary woman wearing beautiful clothes; she looked like a goddess who had quietly stepped into the mortal world.
Marcus found himself staring a little longer than he intended. For one ridiculous moment, he couldn’t help wondering if Willow had really been an angel in another life.
Even Willow stood speechless before the mirror. After turning slowly to admire herself from every angle, she smiled in quiet amazement.
"Marcus... this dress is incredible." She gently lifted one of the flowing ribbons, watching it sway gracefully without the slightest breeze. "Look... the ribbons and ornaments are moving on their own."
She spun lightly in front of the mirror, unable to hide her delight. Of course she loved the dress, but more than that, she enjoyed seeing the admiration in Marcus’s eyes. Knowing the man she loved couldn’t look away made the moment all the more precious.
On her second graceful spin, the white gown suddenly began to glow with a soft, mist-like radiance.
Before either of them had time to react, the long ribbons slowly lifted as though caught by an invisible breeze, and Willow’s feet left the floor, rising into the air.
"Damn..." Marcus froze in disbelief.
He could see exactly what was happening: the gown could fly, not simply enchanted, it was actually carrying its wearer through the air. So this was a true celestial garment. No wonder it had belonged to Lady Rouyu, no wonder it came from the world of immortals. His expectations for everything else inside the Langhuan Immortal Ring immediately rose; if even an ordinary-looking dress possessed an ability like this, then he’d seriously underestimated the value of the other treasures.
"Ah!"
"Marcus! What’s happening?"
Willow had never experienced anything remotely like this before. Panic flashed across her face as she instinctively reached toward him, afraid of drifting even farther away.
"It’s okay, babe," Marcus said quickly, his voice calm and reassuring. "Don’t be scared. The dress is letting you fly."
As he spoke, he circulated Human Rock through his body, making himself as light as a feather before springing effortlessly into the air.
In the next instant, he was floating beside her, and he reached out, gently took her trembling hand, and stayed close enough that she could lean against him if she needed to. With the gown supporting Willow and his own cultivation keeping him aloft, the two of them drifted together through the living room as lightly as clouds.
"Marcus... what’s going on? How am I really flying?"
Now that he was beside her, Willow’s fear eased considerably. She still held onto his hand tightly, but the panic in her eyes gradually gave way to confusion and wonder.
"It’s the gown," Marcus said with a warm smile, wrapping an arm around her waist to steady her. "It’s responding to your energy. Don’t fight it. Relax, feel how it moves, and try guiding it instead."
As he spoke, he carefully used his own inner energy to help her understand the flow of the dress.
Since Willow had already cultivated with him once, traces of Human Rock were already present within her body. In theory, that should allow her to synchronize with the gown.
"Okay."
She nodded obediently.
As long as Marcus was holding her, she felt safe enough to push aside her fear.
Thanks to both of their natural talent, it took barely two minutes before Willow gradually found the rhythm. The nervous stiffness disappeared from her movements. Instead of being carried helplessly through the air, she was now hovering gracefully under her own control.
Marcus smiled, then he took her hand. Standing nearly two meters above the floor, the two of them began to dance together in midair.
The sight was almost dreamlike: elegant, weightless, as though the world itself had forgotten gravity for a few precious moments.
When they finally floated gently back down to the floor, Willow looked up at him with eyes that still hadn’t recovered from the shock.
"Marcus..." She hesitated before asking in a quiet voice, "Did you... really meet an immortal?"
After everything she had just experienced, his outrageous story no longer sounded impossible.
Marcus chuckled. "Babe..." He smiled mischievously. "Do I look like someone who’d actually befriend an immortal?"
Rather than answering directly, he simply raised his hand. One after another, every piece of furniture stored inside the Langhuan Immortal Ring reappeared in the living room: tables, chairs, shelves, decorations, everything quietly returned to exactly where it had been. Watching Willow stand there with her mouth slightly open, Marcus laughed.
"So... is dinner ready? Let’s eat first." He gently squeezed her hand. "After that, I’ll tell you everything."
By the time dinner was over, Marcus had explained the entire story from beginning to end.
Willow’s gaze remained fixed on the ring resting on his finger.
"Marcus..." She looked at him with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. "Can we... really become immortals?"
She had always known he practiced extraordinary martial arts. But immortal cultivation... that belonged to myths and legends.
"It won’t happen overnight," Marcus replied with a smile, "but it’s possible."
He glanced toward the coffee table. "Babe, see those keys over there?"
Willow nodded.
"Focus your energy on them. Gather your thoughts and call them into your hand."
"Can I really do that?" She looked doubtful.
Still, Marcus’s calm confidence gave her courage. Taking a slow breath, she followed the method he’d just taught her and carefully circulated the faint stream of Human Rock energy inside her body.
Her eyes fixed on the keys nearly eight feet away.
A second later...
The keys trembled. Then, slowly, they lifted into the air.
"It worked!" Willow’s face lit up with delight.
The keys floated toward her, but halfway there, the energy sustaining them suddenly weakened. With a metallic clatter, they dropped onto the floor.
Even so, Willow hardly cared. Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Marcus!" She threw her arms around him. "I really did it!"
Marcus laughed and hugged her back. "You used too much energy at once."
Reaching into the ring, he took out another immortal peach and placed it in her hand. "Eat this."
Willow immediately understood.
After taking a bite, a warm current spread throughout her entire body, filling every limb with comfortable, invigorating energy.
Following Marcus’s guidance, she circulated Human Rock once more. Within moments, not only had her exhausted energy completely recovered, but it had become noticeably stronger than before.
She opened her eyes, smiling brightly. "Marcus... I want to try again."
"Go ahead."
This time, she reached toward the keys with much greater confidence. The keys rose smoothly into the air without the slightest hesitation before flying neatly into her waiting hand.
"I did it!" Unable to contain her happiness, Willow rushed into Marcus’s arms and hugged him tightly. "I can cultivate with you now."
There wasn’t a trace of uncertainty left in her voice. Only joy.
Marcus smiled just as brightly. "Of course you can."
He scooped the soft, graceful woman into his arms with ease, breathing in her familiar fragrance before teasing with a grin, "Looks like you will have to spend a lot of time cultivating with me from now on." He leaned closer, lowering his voice. "We’ll have to practice very diligently."
Willow immediately understood what he was implying.
"Marcus..." Her beautiful face turned crimson almost instantly. The shy expression in her clear, shimmering eyes made her even more captivating.
Marcus’s heart skipped a beat. Unable to resist, he leaned in to kiss her.
Just before their lips met, Willow gently slipped free from his embrace. "Wait just a moment."
Smiling mysteriously, she hurried into the bedroom.
Marcus blinked in confusion.
A minute later, she returned carrying a large stack of carefully wrapped boxes and shopping bags.
He looked at them curiously. "Willow... what’s all this?"
Without answering, she quietly opened one of the bags and took out a tailored navy-blue suit. "Try this on."
Marcus accepted it with a puzzled expression. "Where did this come from?"
Then his eyes fell on everything else. A finely crafted leather belt. A gold tie clip. A black silk tie. A platinum watch. Polished dress shoes. Every piece was from a prestigious British brand, selected to match perfectly.
Realization slowly dawned on him. "You bought all of this... while you were in England?"
Willow lowered her eyes and nodded. She had already guessed he’d figure it out. There was no hiding it anymore.
"When I was in England..." Her voice was soft enough to barely be heard. "I missed you. So... whenever I saw something that suited you, I bought it."
A faint blush crept onto her cheeks. "I honestly didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to give any of it to you." She smiled shyly. "But... somehow, here we are."
One piece at a time, she helped him change into the outfit. She adjusted the collar with patient fingers. Straightened his tie. Fastened the watch around his wrist. Smoothed the sleeves of his jacket. Every movement was gentle and practiced, as though she’d imagined this moment countless times while she was overseas.
She spoke as though it were nothing special. As though these were just ordinary gifts.
But Marcus could see the truth. Every item had been chosen with incredible care. Not only were they all exceptional quality, they matched his size almost perfectly, proving she’d remembered every detail about him even while they were apart.
It wasn’t the price that moved him. It was the thought behind them. The quiet affection she’d carried all that time without expecting anything in return.
Marcus looked at the breathtaking woman standing before him. The mature, elegant Willow Moran. The woman who loved him so deeply she had prepared all of this without ever knowing if she’d be able to place it in his hands.
His chest tightened.
Without saying another word, he stepped forward, wrapped both arms around her, and pulled her into a firm embrace.
"Willow..." His voice was softer than before. "Thank you."
He held her a little tighter, feeling his heart fill with war
