Chapter 481: A Feast Worth Level 50
"Who was that knight?" The rogue Marcus had stopped earlier watched him and the girls disappear down the street, unable to hide his curiosity.
The man had looked powerful at first glance, but the more he thought about it, the more unusual the sight seemed. The knight’s armor alone was enough to turn heads, and the group of stunning women surrounding him made the whole scene look even more unbelievable.
The rogue sighed. Some people really had all the luck. For a brief moment, he even found himself wishing he could become that knight’s follower, since even tagging along behind someone like that would be impressive. Then another thought struck him. That armor was incredible. He had seen plenty of high level knights already, but none of them looked remotely as intimidating or impressive as that guy.
---
"Stone, you finally made it!" "Congratulations! Level 50 at last!"
The moment Marcus stepped into Boss Blaze’s store, a wave of cheers greeted him. Drunkard, Invincible Strong, Cleaver, and the others immediately crowded around him. Several of them looked genuinely excited, as though they had been waiting all day for him to arrive.
At the same time, they were clearly surprised to see Icefall and Firebrand accompanying him. Icefall and Firebrand weren’t any less confused. Both women glanced at Drunkard and Invincible Strong, then at Path to Heaven and Cleaver, their expressions practically asking the same question: when did these people get so close to him? The more they learned about Stonehaven, the harder he became to understand.
Still, nobody dwelled on it for long. Invincible Strong quickly leaned forward. "Stone, that third item on the Divine Artifact Leaderboard, Cruel Enslavement... that’s yours too, right?"
Marcus grinned. "Yep. System reward."
That answer immediately sparked everyone’s interest. Without waiting for further questions, Marcus began recounting the entire Level 50 trial. The story of the Soul-Mist Water Demon Cat egg evolving was already enough to leave everyone amazed, but when he revealed the Divine-grade scrolls he had received afterward, the reaction exploded.
Several people simply stared at him. Others openly called him ridiculous. Even Boss Blaze couldn’t help shaking his head.
"Stone, you really hit the jackpot." Then he clapped his hands together. "That’s enough talking. Tonight we celebrate properly. Drinks are on me."
"Now that’s what I like to hear!" "Let’s go!" Drunkard and Invincible Strong immediately cheered.
Marcus laughed before turning toward Path to Heaven. "Is your cousin Jennifer working today? We should head over to Magnolia Restaurant. Think she’d be willing to cook for us?"
Before Path to Heaven could answer, Drunkard threw an arm around Marcus’s shoulders. "Stone, listen to yourself. ’Willing to cook for us?’ Why are you making it sound like we’re asking her for a favor?"
Invincible Strong nodded vigorously. "Exactly. Jennifer’s been talking about you for days. She keeps saying she wants to thank you properly. If she heard you being this polite, she’d probably be upset."
Drunkard laughed. "Forget asking. As soon as she heard you reached Level 50, she went straight into the kitchen. She’s probably been preparing the feast for hours already."
"Jennifer?" The moment the name came up, several pairs of eyes immediately landed on Marcus. Amber. Jade. Talia. FreshwindElara. Even Icefall and Firebrand. Only Anya and Chloe seemed completely unconcerned.
The silent looks made Marcus want to rub his forehead. These idiots were doing it on purpose. Knowing Drunkard and the others, they had probably arranged tonight’s celebration the moment they learned he had reached Level 50. Jennifer was likely halfway through cooking already.
Still, Marcus raised a hand. "Actually, could somebody tell Jennifer not to finish everything yet?"
Drunkard blinked. "Not finish everything?" His expression immediately became suspicious. "Stone, don’t tell me you’ve found somewhere better."
"No, that’s not what I..." Before he could finish speaking, Invincible Strong interrupted. "Then what’s wrong?"
"Nothing’s wrong, I just..."
Drunkard waved dismissively. "If nothing’s wrong, then don’t worry about it. Tonight’s celebration is happening."
"Exactly," Cleaver agreed. "Whatever it is can wait until tomorrow." His gaze drifted toward the girls. "Especially with this many people. We need a proper feast."
"That’s right!" Everyone immediately agreed. Drunkard and Invincible Strong looked at Marcus with complete determination. "Stone, you’ve owed us several meals already." "No escaping this one."
Marcus stared at them. ’Seriously?’ He had barely spoken ten words and had already lost control of the conversation. "I was trying to help you guys."
That finally got everyone’s attention. "A favor?" Drunkard asked. "What kind of favor?"
Marcus had originally intended to explain immediately. Now he changed his mind. "Guess."
Drunkard nearly choked. "Guess? How are we supposed to guess with no clues?" He thought for a moment before narrowing his eyes. "Wait. Is it connected to your trial?"
"Sort of." Marcus smiled. "Guess correctly and there’s a prize."
Drunkard ignored everything except the last sentence. "What prize?"
Gloomy Arrow finally spoke up, his voice calm as usual. "The answer is probably connected to the extra part of your trial. The traitor Evan wasn’t part of the original trial objective. That means the villagers likely rewarded Stone separately afterward. Whatever he’s talking about probably came from there."
Marcus gave him an impressed look. "Nice deduction." As expected of the former top-ranked archer, Gloomy Arrow noticed details most people overlooked.
Marcus reached into his inventory. "Beef jerky, pickled eggs, honey dates, or red pears. Which one do you want?" Several food items appeared on the table.
Drunkard immediately grabbed a pickled egg. Nobody doubted Marcus anymore; if he brought something out, it was never ordinary. A moment later his eyes widened. "Holy crap." He checked the item again, then again. "Luck +5 for an entire month?"
The others immediately snatched up the remaining foods. One after another, shocked exclamations filled the room.
"These are insane." "Stone, where did you even get this stuff?" "This honey date is ridiculous. It’s practically a permanent high-grade healing potion!"
Invincible Strong stared at the item in disbelief before looking up. "Why didn’t you tell us earlier! Do you have more?"
Marcus rolled his eyes. "You two haven’t stopped talking since I got here. How was I supposed to tell you earlier?" The room erupted with laughter.
Then Marcus became more serious. "The village chief gave them to me before I left. I got enough that we can enjoy them without worrying about running out." As he spoke, he brought out another collection of items. This time it was cooking ingredients. High-grade ingredients. Rare ingredients. Ingredients most players had never even seen before.
The reaction was immediate. Drunkard’s jaw nearly hit the floor. "Stone..." He looked genuinely emotional. As regular customers of Magnolia Restaurant, they knew exactly how difficult it was to obtain ingredients of this quality. Most people considered themselves lucky to eat dishes made from such ingredients once a month. Marcus had just dumped an entire pile onto the table.
Then someone noticed the crimson lobsters. The room instantly became quiet. "Mythic-grade ingredients?" Nobody could quite believe it. Those might have been the first Mythic-grade cooking ingredients anyone in the game had ever seen.
Drunkard slowly turned toward Marcus. "You’re completely unfair."
Marcus laughed. "Stop standing around and go tell Jennifer to use all of it. Tonight’s meal should be something special."
Drunkard nodded immediately. "With ingredients like these and Jennifer cooking, tonight’s feast is going to be legendary." Then his eyes suddenly lit up. "Wait." A dangerous smile appeared on his face. "Stone... any chance you’ve got good wine too?"
Marcus immediately recognized that expression. "You really never stop trying."
Drunkard froze, then realization hit. "Hold on." His eyes widened. "You actually have wine?"
Marcus nodded. "Of course." He stored away the ingredients and produced a large jug. Thousand-Year Grain Wine. He had already tasted the ordinary version back in Millbrook Village, and it had been excellent. The aged version was on an entirely different level. Even the item description specifically praised its rich aroma and flavor.
Drunkard looked as if he had just discovered treasure.
At that point, everything was ready. They were just about to leave for Magnolia Restaurant when Invincible Strong suddenly remembered something. "Wait a second." He pointed at Marcus. "Stone, why aren’t you wearing your Level 50 equipment yet?"
Marcus shrugged. "I came straight from the appraisal shop. Didn’t have time."
That immediately caught everyone’s attention. Without further delay, Marcus began changing equipment.
The first piece he equipped was the Level 50 Mythic Artifact, the Wraith Cloak, replacing the old Level 20 Shadow Cloak. He had originally planned to equip it earlier, but there had been too many players at the appraisal shop and his new equipment was far too eye-catching. Now there was no reason to hold back.
The moment the Wraith Cloak settled onto his shoulders, the atmosphere in the room changed. The wide black cloak flowed behind him while faint gray spirits drifted around it like living mist. Combined with the dark Corpse Demon armor, the overall effect was intimidating. He looked less like a knight and more like some terrifying warrior from the underworld. The Millbrook villagers had been right. A hell knight was probably the closest description.
The room fell silent. Marcus secretly enjoyed every second of it. ’Not bad. Not bad at all.’
Then he activated the cloak’s skill. "Drifting Loiter."
Immediately, Marcus rose from the ground. So did everyone standing nearby. Amber. Jade. Anya. Talia. FreshwindElara. Drunkard. Invincible Strong. Everyone within three meters of him floated several feet into the air.
Drunkard cautiously took a step forward, then another. His feet moved as naturally as if he were walking on solid ground. The moment he left the cloak’s range, however, he gently drifted back down to the floor.
"That’s insane."
The girls were having far more fun with it. "Firebrand, get over here!" Anya waved excitedly. The girls immediately gathered around Marcus, floating together while laughing and experimenting with their newfound ability to walk through the air. Even Icefall couldn’t completely hide her curiosity.
Gloomy Arrow watched the scene and shook his head. "Absolutely ridiculous."
Meanwhile, Marcus continued testing equipment. He switched out his old Corpse Demon Dark Soul Sword and Adamant Shield and equipped his new Level 50 weapons one by one.
The first was the Mist-Tear Spear of Purity. Over two meters long, it was black from tip to shaft and surrounded by a faint layer of drifting mist. Unlike many high-tier weapons, it wasn’t flashy. It looked restrained, yet dangerous. The kind of weapon people underestimated right before getting stabbed with it. Marcus liked that.
The second weapon was the complete opposite. The Ice-Fire Twin Dragon Hoe appeared in his hands, and every eye in the room immediately shifted toward it. Blue and red energy wrapped around the massive weapon, the lights intertwining like twin dragons circling its shaft. The thing was enormous, impossible to ignore.
Marcus swung it once and felt its weight settle comfortably into his hands. Heavy. Powerful. Balanced. A grin spread across his face. "Not bad."
He slung it across his back. The handle extended well above his head, while blue and red energy continued crackling around it. Combined with his height and armor, the effect was absurdly imposing.
Drunkard stared. Invincible Strong stared. Even Boss Blaze and DragonBlade looked impressed.
"Stone, that’s incredible."
"That thing looks amazing."
Cleaver looked personally offended. "I can’t believe a farming hoe looks cooler than my sword."
The room burst into laughter. Even Fate’s Trial, who rarely spoke, nodded. "Honestly, it suits you."
And nobody disagreed. The massive glowing hoe, the dark armor, the floating cloak, and Marcus’s imposing build all came together into one ridiculous image. It was excessive, it was over-the-top, and somehow, it worked perfectly.
Even Storm, who usually acted unimpressed by everything, couldn’t find a single criticism.
