Chapter 479: Soul-Dream Set
Looking at the three Divine-grade scrolls in his inventory, Marcus couldn’t help feeling satisfied. Each one was valuable enough to change a player’s future. If he used them wisely and brought out their full potential, the rewards would be difficult to imagine.
With that, his Level 50 trial was officially complete. He had successfully reached Level 50.
Just as Marcus and Elder Lonely were about to part ways, another system notification suddenly rang out.
Ding!
[Stonehaven, congratulations on becoming the first player in Dominion to reach Level 50. The system can issue a worldwide announcement. Do you consent to the announcement and reveal your name?]
"No announcement." Marcus declined without hesitation.
For players who chased fame and attention, this kind of opportunity would be priceless. Marcus, however, had never cared much about public recognition. Besides, anyone paying attention to the Level Leaderboard would notice the change sooner or later. The forums were probably exploding already. A system announcement would only make things even more troublesome.
Fortunately, ordinary players didn’t know that reaching Level 50 required a temple trial. Otherwise, every temple in the game would probably be flooded with players trying to investigate, and his identity would become much harder to hide.
What Marcus didn’t know was that Dragon’s Peak Citadel was already in chaos. The Guild Hall, where players learned skills and changed classes, had become packed with curious players hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious number-one knight. Most of them knew Marcus was a Temple Knight and probably had little reason to visit the Guild Hall, but they had no better lead and refused to leave.
Compared to that mess, Marcus was enjoying a remarkable amount of peace and quiet.
Another system notification appeared.
Ding!
[System notice: Your Divine-grade scroll, Cruel Enslavement, has been added to the Divine Artifact Leaderboard due to its extraordinary power. Do you wish to reveal the item’s attributes and your name?]
"Hide attributes. Hide name."
Only after hearing the notification did Marcus remember the Divine Artifact Leaderboard existed. Given the scroll’s ability to enslave system NPCs and monsters, its place on the leaderboard was hardly surprising.
Curious, he opened the rankings.
—
Rank 3: Cruel Enslavement
Divine-grade Scroll
Creator: Arcane-Beast Race
Attributes: Hidden
Owner: Hidden
—
Marcus nodded in satisfaction. Perfect.
After that, no more system notifications appeared. Elder Lonely also showed no special reaction to the achievement. There were no bonus rewards, no secret inheritance, and certainly no hidden quest waiting for the first player to reach Level 50.
’What a cheapskate.’
Marcus grumbled inwardly before saying farewell to the old man.
After leaving the temple, he headed with the girls to the appraisal shop to identify the items dropped by the Soul Vase Ghost. Among the loot were a Mythic Artifact and a Green Set, both of which immediately caught everyone’s attention.
"Bro, these are incredible!" Amber exclaimed as the elderly appraiser finished his work.
The Soul Vase Ghost had been surprisingly generous. Every item it dropped was high quality.
The first item identified was the Mythic Artifact.
—
Soul Vase: Mythic Artifact.
Requirements: Level 50.
An ancient relic from a forgotten age. Legends claim it once possessed far greater power, but the techniques needed to fully utilize it were gradually lost, causing its abilities to decline over time. One of the Seven Ancient Vases.
Effects activate while stored in the user’s inventory.
Effects:
Absorbs 20% of Ghost-race attacks.
Strength +20
Constitution +20
Agility +20
Focus +20
When the wielder kills a system NPC or monster, there is a 30% chance that the target’s soul will be absorbed into the Soul Vase. Stored souls can be used to activate the artifact’s skills.
Skills:
Dance of the Dead (Active): Releases stored souls to attack enemies. Power depends on the quantity and strength of the souls consumed.
Swarm of Countless Ghost Souls (Active): The Soul Vase’s ultimate skill. Summons stored souls to protect the user. The strength and duration of the protection depend on the quantity and strength of stored souls. Requires at least 10,000 stored souls.
Current Souls Stored: 0

Everyone immediately turned toward the Twin-Winged Water Demon Cat resting comfortably in Jade’s arms. "Your cat is way too strong."
The little creature blinked innocently, and Marcus could only smile helplessly. The cat had drained every soul from the Soul Vase during the battle. Now he would have to rebuild its collection from the beginning.
The loss was painful. He had personally experienced the power of Swarm of Countless Ghost Souls, and against powerful enemies, its defensive effect was extremely useful.
Still, another detail caught his attention. One of the Seven Ancient Vases. The description suggested there were six others somewhere in the world. Unfortunately, even Alana had never heard of them, so there was no way to investigate further for now.
The old appraiser looked as if he knew something, but despite Marcus’s attempts to read his expression, the man remained silent.
’Stubborn old man.’
Marcus stored the Soul Vase in his inventory. The stat bonuses activated immediately. ’Not bad at all.’
Next came the Green Set. The set was called Soul-Dream.
Marcus took out the first piece.
—
Soul Robe: Component of the Soul-Dream Green Set.
Requirements: Level 50, Female Player.
Set Components:
Soul Robe (Chest)
Soul Cloud (Helm)
Soul Arms (Bracers)
Soul Skirt (Leg Armor)
Soul Wind (Boots)
—
Marcus checked the rest of the loot. One of each piece. A complete set.
His luck really had been excellent. Together, they continued reading.
—
A hundred years ago, a powerful Demon Beast and an Arcane-Beast fought on Black Ghost Peak. Both creatures had reached Mythic Beast rank, and after a fierce battle, they left each other heavily wounded.
Taking advantage of the situation, the ruler of Black Ghost Peak, the Black Peak Ten-Thousand-Dagger-Through-The-Heart Ghost, attacked and killed both weakened beasts. He extracted the Demon Beast’s soul and the Arcane-Beast’s spirit, then forged the Soul-Dream Set for his wife, the Red-Haired Long-Tongue Ghost.
Unfortunately, his forging skills were mediocre. Despite using materials from two Mythic Beasts, he only managed to create a Level 50 Green Set. Unwilling to accept that result, he later sealed the set inside the Soul Vase, hoping that years of nourishment from the hundred thousand souls stored within would gradually strengthen it.
—
"So that’s why a female set dropped from a male ghost," Marcus said. The mystery finally made sense.
He continued reading the attributes.
—
Soul Robe
Defense +500
HP +200
Strength +10
Constitution +10
Agility +10
Focus +10
Fire Resistance +20%
Skill: Summon Spectral Spirit
Summons a protective spirit that increases Defense by 10%.
—
Amber stared at the numbers. "Bro, this defense is ridiculous."
She wasn’t exaggerating. Her Mythic Artifact, Spirit of the Maple Leaf, provided only 400 Defense. Even Marcus’s Corpse Demon Armor, designed for heavily armored warriors and knights, offered only 350. The difference was enormous.
The group quickly checked the remaining pieces. Every component followed the same pattern: excellent defense, strong attribute bonuses, and useful additional effects. If a female mage or archer wore the complete set, her survivability would become absurdly high. She could probably stand on the front line longer than some warriors.
Individually, each piece was already comparable to a Mythic Artifact. But Green Sets were famous for one thing: their set bonuses.
Everyone focused on the final section. Although none of them could equip the set yet, the complete bonus effects were still visible.
After several ordinary bonuses, the final line immediately drew their attention. It was a Divine-grade skill.
—
Soul-Dance (Active, Divine-grade Skill):
Unleashes countless ghost souls around the user.
Attack +30%
Defense +30%
Evasion ×2
The user also gains the ability to float through the air.
Duration: 30 minutes.
Uses per day: 2.
Requirement: Full Soul-Dream Set equipped.
—
For a moment, nobody spoke. The effect was outstanding. Half an hour of enhanced combat ability, doubled evasion, and flight, all usable twice every day. The skill wasn’t merely powerful. It was practical in almost every situation.
Marcus immediately began calculating possibilities. If one of the girls equipped this set, she would gain enough survivability to accompany him into far more dangerous areas. Future expeditions, boss hunts, and high-level exploration would become much easier.
Now this was a real upgrade. He handed the set to Lily for safekeeping. She could decide later who would benefit from it most.
Even so, Marcus wasn’t completely satisfied. They still lacked enough top-tier equipment for the entire group.
Just as he thought the appraisal session was over, another item caught his attention: the treasure map dropped by the Soul Vase Ghost. After checking it carefully, his eyes widened slightly.
It wasn’t an ordinary treasure map. It was a Unique Treasure Map.
Treasure maps were divided into five ranks: Low, Medium, High, Special, and Unique. Low and Medium maps generally led to equipment below Golden rank. High and Special maps offered chances to obtain Golden-grade equipment or better. Unique Treasure Maps, however, were in a completely different category. Every single one guaranteed rewards of at least Mythic grade.
Without wasting another second, Marcus and the girls carefully unfolded the map and began reading its details.
