Chapter 478: The Secret of Mythic Artifact Advancement

Pressed by their questions, Alana spoke in a quiet voice, "Ten thousand years ago, hundreds of divine races existed across the Dreamland Continent. But conflicts, prejudice, and endless disputes between them eventually led to the Great Divine War, a disaster that wiped out nearly eighty percent of all races."

Marcus nodded. He had heard this story before from Liam Windrunner, inside the First Emperor’s Tomb. That was also where he had learned about humanity’s first emperor, the man who had led an oppressed race toward strength and independence.

Alana continued, "After the Great Divine War, the surviving races still fought each other from time to time, but things gradually settled over the next thousand years. Then two brutal races appeared. They fed on other races and brought another age of slaughter to the Dreamland Continent: the Blood Clan and the Savage Tribe."

She paused briefly as if recalling an old memory. "According to my grandfather, members of the Blood Clan had blood-red skin and long crimson hair that could reach half a meter in length. They floated on red rings of light and specialized in powerful magic.

The Savage Tribe resembled modern Half-Beasts, but they were much larger, with horns on their heads and tusks protruding from their mouths. They excelled in close combat. Both races were exceptionally violent."

"The Blood Clan and the Savage Tribe were even stronger than the Demons, the Ghosts, and the Arcane-Beasts. A single warrior from either race could often fight several Demon soldiers at once. They were feared across the continent. The Blood Clan drank the blood of other races, while the Savage Tribe devoured their flesh."

"Ah... They eat people?" The girls shuddered.

Alana nodded. "Not just people. They especially craved the blood and flesh of powerful beings. The stronger the target, the more valuable it was to them. Eventually, every major race was forced to unite against these two enemies."

"And then?" Amber asked immediately. She already knew the Blood Clan and Savage Tribe had ultimately failed, otherwise they would still rule the continent today. Even so, she wanted to know what had happened.

"They were too powerful," Alana said with a sigh. "Even after more than three thousand years of war, the allied races couldn’t destroy them. In the end, after paying a terrible price, they managed only to seal them away. The Blood Clan was imprisoned within the Bloody Basin, while the Savage Tribe was sealed inside the Savage Abyss."

"That war reduced the number of races once again. The major powers that remain today are humanity, the most numerous race; the Demons, the strongest; the Ghosts, the most cunning; the Arcane-Beasts, the most mysterious; and the Beastmen, the most ferocious."

"Around the same period that the Blood Clan and Savage Tribe were sealed away, the old empire collapsed. Not long afterward, the Goddess of Dreams appeared and established the Dragon Dynasty under her protection."

After briefly summarizing the continent’s history, Alana returned to the main topic, "Although the Blood Clan and Savage Tribe were sealed, they still possessed several powerful artifacts that allowed a small number of their people to bypass the seal. For thousands of years, these agents have remained on the mainland, searching openly and secretly for a way to free their races."

"Five thousand years ago, shortly after the sealing, those agents learned that the Lady of Beasts had been weakened after the failure of Cruel Enslavement. They surrounded her, hoping to seize her artifact, the Celestial Silk Robe, and use its power to create a passage through the seal."

"Did they succeed?" the girls asked nervously. Alana shook her head. "No one knows for certain. The Lady of Beasts disappeared after that battle and was never seen again. She may have died, but the Blood Clan and Savage Tribe never obtained the Celestial Silk Robe. Even now, their agents continue searching for ways to break the seal."

"Because the robe was never found, many people believe the Lady of Beasts survived. She may be trapped somewhere rather than dead. After all, someone with her level of power wouldn’t have been easy to kill."

Amber’s eyes lit up. "Alana, how would we even find these Blood Clan and Savage Tribe agents?" She gripped Maple Leaf Dance tightly and added with determination, "Anyone who hunts people for food deserves to be stopped."

Alana immediately looked concerned. "Amber, don’t go looking for them. Not unless you’re well past Level 80. Those people are far more dangerous than you think."

"Blood Clan... Savage Tribe..." Marcus quietly repeated the names to himself. Aside from the Demon invasion, it sounded like there were even larger threats hidden beneath the surface of the continent’s history. Still, he couldn’t deny his curiosity. Lost artifacts, ancient races, sealed enemies, forgotten wars... for an adventurer, discoveries like these were difficult to ignore.

After hearing Alana’s explanation, Marcus returned Cruel Enslavement to his inventory. That scroll was both an opportunity and a source of trouble. The power it offered was undeniable, but so was the attention it could attract.

Then he took out the third and final Divine-grade scroll he had received from the system.

Mythic Artifact Advancement: Divine-grade scroll. Requirements: Level 50, Advanced Forging or higher.

Three thousand years ago, a Dragon Dynasty general obtained numerous Mythic Artifacts during campaigns against the Demons. Seeking greater power, he ordered military blacksmiths to study and combine those treasures, eventually creating a unique forging technique.

Usage: Combine three Mythic Artifacts of the same equipment slot, such as three weapons, three helmets, or three pairs of boots, to create a stronger Mythic Artifact or potentially even a Divine Artifact. Using artifacts with similar attributes significantly increases the success rate.

Marcus stared at the description. It was absurdly powerful. This technique could turn Mythic Artifacts into Divine Artifacts.

The value of such a scroll was difficult to measure. More importantly, its requirements were surprisingly low. Normally, crafting a Divine Artifact required a blacksmith to surpass Grandmaster rank and step into the realm of Mythic-level Forging. Yet this scroll only required Advanced Forging to use.

That difference alone made it a treasure capable of driving countless master craftsmen into a frenzy.
