Chapter 2332: Chapter 2332 The Bunch of Penniless Wretches

When the clone returned to the Grand Hall in place of Ye Liuyun, Scythe wasn’t particularly surprised.

Upon seeing the two heads presented by Ye Liuyun, he gave the clone’s Golden Phantom Eyes a measure glance.

"I knew I wasn’t wrong about you!" Scythe said with a grin.

"What do you mean by that?" the clone asked, puzzled.

"Dealing with Stygian normally requires points. Don’t you find it odd that you could buy an identity token with Spirit Crystal?" Scythe countered.

"But didn’t I already have points?" the clone retorted.

"Normally, a token would only be exchangeable for points. But I foresee your points would be enough in the near future. Hence, I was willing to trade you the token with Spirit crystals in advance!" Scythe declared confidently.

"What makes you so sure that I’ll accumulate enough points?" the clone pressed on further.

Scythe merely chuckled and replied, "Martial practitioners from the Sanctuary Land are all unbearably arrogant..."

The clone’s heart skipped a beat as he thought. "Has he discovered I’m not from the Sanctuary Land?"

Scythe then continued, "Those who speak politely and act humbly usually were desperate enough. And people like that always have at least a few dozen points to their name."

"Besides, getting your identity token was to make it easier for you to take on missions later on!"

Upon hearing this, the clone felt at ease. In his nod, he did not dispute what Scythe had said.

He figured it was best to let him believe what he wants. Saying too much might raise suspicion.

Scythe then asked, "So, are you interested in taking on more missions? Or do you have other plans?"

The clone pondered for a moment before replying to Scythe, "I’d like to take on some local missions for now. I’m not ready to leave the realm yet."

He figured the identity token Scythe gave him was registered within the vicinity of Lunaris City. It made sense to familiarise himself with the area before venturing further.

Scythe recommended him several one-point missions, but the clone found them too simple. He wanted something more challenging, tied with higher rewards.

After Ye Liuyun had proven himself capable of finishing three two-point assignments, Scythe proceeded to assign him another three similar challenges.

"Two-point missions are the highest I can offer you right now," Scythe explained. "And these are publicly posted bounties. Meaning you won’t be the only one attempting them. The first to complete the objective gets the rewards."

"We need you to prove your capabilities before assigning you anything harder."

"Fine. I’ll take all three," the clone declared, accepting the missions without hesitation.

Scythe offered no further objections but offered him a warning. "If no one completes these missions within a month, the mission will be automatically cancelled."

"Also, please take note that the Stygian token you hold is unregistered. If someone steals it, they can use your accumulated points as they wish."

The clone retrieved the Interspatial Ring of Lion Slayer and the other two men he had eradicated. He extracted their insignias and exchanged them for divine crystals on the spot.

Since these points couldn’t be directly transferred to his insignia, keeping them was pointless. Converting them into resources was the smarter move.

After the exchange, Ye Liuyun glanced at the publicly posted bounty posters on the wall, memorising the targets before leaving the hall.

But the moment he stepped outside the Grand Hall, he sensed several black-robed figures locking onto him with their divine sense. Possibly, hiding somewhere to ambush him.

A faint smirk curled the clone’s lips as he let them trail him. He nonchalantly headed straight for the Stygian secret realm’s exit.

Once outside the secret realm, he took a deep breath of fresh air.

"Ah, nothing beats the fresh air out here!"

He wasn’t in any hurry to leave. Instead, he strolled into the dense forest, expanding his Divine sense as he wandered the area.

Soon after, over a dozen martial practitioners emerged from the secret realm, half of whom were Omnipotent Level experts.

When the clone saw them approaching, he called forth Lei Ming, Lin Wu, Liu Tianfeng, Tiger King, Thousand Faces, Phantom Hand, Xue Rongwu, Twin Strike, and Yu Yao from Ye Liuyun’s Spatial World.

"Time for some target practice!" the clone announced to the group.

The pursuing martial practitioners instantly lost their nerve.

They never expected this assassin to be travelling with so many Omnipotent Level experts. They’d assumed Ye Liuyun, who had just eliminated two bounty targets, must be carrying valuable bounty points or exchangeable resources worth robbing.

Even though they had witnessed the fierce beast and the white ray the clone employed, these desperate robbers reckoned that they had the winning edge as they outnumbered him.

"What’s the meaning of this? We’re just passing by!" one of the Omnipotent Level experts hastily protested.

The clone chuckled. "Weren’t you all tailing me from the secret realm?"

"No, certainly not!"

"Absolutely not!"

"We were heading out anyway, heading to Lunaris City."

"We’re all Stygian’s mercenaries! We’re on the same side!"

The group’s voices overlapped in frantic denial as they started spewing desperate explanations.

The clone merely smirked. "Whether you admit it or not doesn’t matter. I have no intention of letting you go!"

"Roar!" Without waiting for further orders, Lei Ming revealed his true form and charged at an Omnipotent Level expert. This isolated spot was perfect for an unrestrained, all-out battle."

Inspired by Lei Ming’s ferocity, the others surged forward as well.

Despite the equal numbers, Ye Liuyun’s side had a significant advantage. The enemy martial practitioners fell one by one in less than fifteen minutes.

The clone then gathered their Interspatial rings, only to discover they were nothing but penniless wretches.

Not only did their Interspatial Ring contain no significant resources, but it also lacked any Stygian insignia.

Just as the clone was puzzling over this, an incredibly powerful martial practitioner’s divine soul suddenly approached his location.

Apparently, Phantom Hand felt it, too. He cloaked himself in invisibility and at the same time attacked the source of that powerful Divine soul.

The Golden Phantom Eyes of the clone witnessed Phantom Hand being sent flying into the air following a thunderous boom. This opponent was apparently quite proficient in battle, in addition to having a strong Divine Sense.

The others were on high alert right away, but none were able to see the enemy’s location.

Not even the clone could pick up on the individual’s location despite detecting his Divine Sense. The martial practitioner must have had an Invisible Cloak or other form of invisibility treasure on.

In this critical moment, the clone had no choice but to expend his Divine Soul to unleash a beam of black ray, obliterating the enemy’s divine soul.

With a sudden dull thud, a martial practitioner collapsed to the ground. With his Divine soul destroyed, his invisibility artefact deactivated, finally revealing his appearance.

The clone took the man’s Interspatial Ring and searched. In it, he uncovered a trove of insignias and countless resources. This martial practitioner was likely the leader of the group.

The resources he carried weren’t just from these ten men. Most of it seemed like plundered spoils from his victims.

Without hesitation, the clone claimed everything. The insignias would be exchanged for points, while the rest of the resources were handed over to Lan Xin to be distributed.

At the same time, Tiger King removed the martial practitioner’s armour. As it turned out, that set was the invisibility artefact.

The clone told him, "Keep it for yourself," as he tossed the armour to Tiger King. "It will assist you in evading assassinations in the future."
