Chapter 2248: Chapter 2248 Chaos by the Martial Practitioners
Commander of the blue-scaled foreign race did not let Ye Liuyun down. Upon his return, he promptly organised his forces and led a march of twenty soldiers out of the city, determined to confront Ye Liuyun in a decisive battle.
Twenty thousand soldiers, in his opinion, would be more than sufficient. No matter how vast Ye Liuyun’s Spatial World was, it could only accommodate up to ten thousand people at most.
On top of that, he purposefully withdrew part of his army because the trial battlefield wasn’t the best location to deploy all of his troops.
Following the conventional military protocol, Ye Liuyun immediately sent out scouts and sentries to establish a defensive perimeter after annihilating the three thousand troops of the foreign race.
At the same time, he sent word to the martial practitioners in the city, warning them of the impending battle.
He intended to keep the martial practitioners in the city. However, they were eager and enthusiastic. In excitement, they flocked to Ye Liuyun’s side to offer their assistance.
They totaled over three thousand. Seeing them, Ye Liuyun couldn’t help but have a headache. He had no idea how to manage them.
They were not trained like regular soldiers and thus lacked the discipline to heed orders. It would be difficult for him to deploy them as regular soldiers.
Despite Ye Liuyun’s repeated assurances that they were unsuitable for this battle, they remained unconvinced, pestering him to assign them tasks.
Left with no other option, Ye Liuyun decided to employ them as the forefront, dispatching them directly to confront the enemy’s advance forces, effectively using them as bait.
Still, he advised them, "If you are defeated, do not retreat to my main army. If you disrupt our formation, we won’t be able to fight effectively."
The group dismissed his concerns, firmly stating that they would not lose.
Ye Liuyun merely grinned. He had done his share to warn them. If something went wrong, they couldn’t blame him.
Soon after, Ye Liuyun learnt that the foreign race army of 20,000 had marched out of their base, led once more by the blue-scaled foreign race leader.
"Perfect!" Ye Liuyun shouted. "It appears that this individual holds a high level. He managed to mobilise twenty thousand men so swiftly!"
Ye Liuyun was resolved to eliminate the whole twenty-thousand enemy force and capture the blue-scaled alien leader alive.
He ordered Tiger King to lead ten thousand soldiers to trail the 3,000 decoy martial practitioners while he and his clone, cloaked with Concealcape, surrounded the enemy from all sides.
At the onset of battle, the clone would lead ten thousand Beastmen to cut through the foreign race army before joining forces with the Tiger King’s troops to encircle the vanguard. Ye Liuyun would lead the Blade Legion team to eliminate the foreign race’s rear guard, all the while having another ten thousand Beastman in reserve to guard against any incoming enemy reinforcements.
Two days later, the decoy martial practitioners finally encountered the foreign race army.
The martial practitioners ’ initial confidence waned as they saw the foreign race’s regimented and intimidating formation.
However, some bold martial practitioners decided to test their mettle.
"Let’s bombard them with our artefacts first, then charge in together and catch them off guard," one of them said.
However, their scheme proved ridiculous in the face of the overwhelming army.
As soon as they bombarded the enemy with their artefacts, the foreign race army’s front lines raised their shields and launched a counterattack from the rear, easily neutralising the warriors’ onslaught.
"Spread out and charge! Their individual strength is lower than ours. If we can break into their line formation, they’re done!" Another warrior proposed.
The martial practitioners fanned out and charged toward the foreign race army.
"Hmph! The blue-scaled alien leader hissed, "They’re all here to die." Without having to give commands, the front-line commander had already organised the soldiers into a defensive stance.
Ye Liuyun, who viewed the blue-scaled foreign race as a major threat, was set to destroy him. The strength of his leadership was evident.
Ye Liuyun’s clone observed the martial practitioners battle from a distance.
Upon seeing the foreign races’ defensive formation, Ye Liuyun and his clone immediately realised that their decoy soldiers were doomed.
"It would appear that this foreign race is no ordinary foe. Capturing them would only be a waste of effort. We should use the white ray to destroy them and then charge at them with our chariots to minimize our casualties!" Ye Liuyun quickly changed his strategy.
He realized that this foreign army was far more formidable than any opponents he had faced.
Equipped with the most cutting-edge weaponry, the Beastman force was the ideal force for large-scale battles. In no time, they were ready to go into battle.
The three thousand decoy martial practitioners were swiftly defeated. They were surrounded by the foreign race army right after they launched an assault.
When they attacked, the alien species fought back fiercely. Although they managed to break past the hostile formation line, they failed to gain any advantage and instead inflicted equal damage on the adversary.
As the enemy forces drew near, the quick-witted and the cowardly bolted, barely escaping before being surrounded.
Those who were slow to respond found themselves trapped. Despite their best efforts, many died, while a few regrouped and continued to fight.
In the end, only half of the martial practitioners managed to escape. Stripped of their fighting spirit, they fled in panic, running for their lives, without turning back.
They were never given a chance to slow down as the foreign race pursued relentlessly. Taking advantage of their retreat, the foreign race aimed to charge head-on into the Beastmen’s base.
Despite Ye Liuyun’s prior warnings, the martial practitioners were so terrified that they ran towards the Beastman army in a last-ditch effort to escape.
"A bunch of useless fools. They only cause problems!"
The Tiger King snorted coldly before he commanded, "Archers!"
Several lines of archers stepped forward at once, prepared to fire.
Their standard gear included arrows and bows. To keep the martial practitioners from infiltrating their base and causing chaos in the army’s formation, the Tiger King planned to employ these conventional weapons to disperse them.
The Beastmans cared little for the lives of these martial practitioners. They were determined not to let them disturb their army’s formation.
"Fire!"
Tiger King roared with his thundering voice, which spread across the battlefield. Seeing the martial practitioners still clustered together in his direction, he gave the command without hesitation.
A volley of arrows soared through the air, raining down upon the incoming martial practitioners.
"It’s us! We’re on the same side!" shouted one of the martial practitioners in panic.
"Have you lost your minds? Shooting at your people?" another cried out,
The martial practitioners tried to deflect and dodge the incoming arrows. However, they were being pushed forward by the foreign race from behind to act as a human shield.
"Have you forgotten King of God’s warning?"
Tiger King bellowed at them, his voice pierced through the chaos. His reminder startled several of the practitioners, and they immediately rerouted sideways.
By then, the archers had stopped attacking and retreated to reveal the war chariots concealed behind the lines.
Thanks to the martial practitioners’ being at the front, it inadvertently obstructed the view of the foreign race from seeing the chariots.
"Charge!"
Tiger King commanded. The Beastman army instantly surged forward, with the war chariots leading at the front, followed closely by the rest of the troops in formation.
The martial practitioners caught in the middle were paralyzed with fear. It was too late for them to flee.
"Roar!"
A deafening holler erupted from behind them as the foreign race forces unleashed their barrage of arrows.
The Beastman chariots’ Alora Crystal guns sprang to life and unleashed deadly blow after blast before the martial practitioners could respond. Pinned down by arrows or ripped apart by explosives on either side, the martial practitioners caught in the crossfire of the two armies perished in an instant.
Both armies charged forward with inexhaustible wrath, and the battlefield erupted in a clamour of cries as both sides battled fiercely.
