Chapter 2249: Chapter 2249 A Trial Run

The fleeing martial practitioners were petrified by the deafening roars. They huddled in the distance, staring in shock at the gruesome scene unfolding before them.

The war chariots were devastatingly strong. The moment they stormed into enemy territory, they unleashed attacks in every direction. They remain unscathed even when attacked. Many of the foreign race armies were crushed to death under their relentless advancement.

Beastman armour and weaponry were far superior to anything the foreign race could produce. No amount of damage from spears and blades could penetrate the Beastmen’s armour, yet the Beastmen’s weapons could cause perilous damage to their armour.

A path of devastation was left behind as the Beastmen ripped through the foreign race troops with vicious attacks.

The blue-scaled foreign race Commander witnessed the destructive power of the war chariots with his furrowed brow.

But before he could devise a countermeasure, another wave of Beastmen warriors surged from the flank.

With a swift gesture, he signalled for his soldiers to intercept.

As an experienced commander, he knew full well that an enemy attack on the middle of his formation may break his soldiers’ formation and scatter his forces.

But all of a sudden, the Beastmen Commander sent twenty more war chariots crashing into the foreign race’s formation line. Their shield structures were ripped apart, and the soldiers were sent flying into the air. Then, the chariots launched a flurry of strikes, sending the foreign race army into a fit of anguish.

Dozens of white rays beamed toward the foreign race forces, with one of them aimed directly at the blue-scaled foreign race commander.

Sensing imminent danger, he instinctively raised his shield to block. But the beam easily pierced through the shield as if it were paper and struck his skull with lethal accuracy.

Immediately, his head vaporised, leaving a gaping hole. Seconds later, he fell to the ground with a dull thud.

"Charge!"

At that point, the Blade Legion in the back of the foreign race army roared in unison and charged forward.

In terms of combat prowess, the Blade Legion was unmatched. They were like a scythe of death, reaping through the once-formidable foreign race soldiers.

Ye Tiandao tested the new Black Gold armour equipped with gilded cannons with the Dark Legion. The performance of the assault was outstanding. It could continually launch attacks that caused massive damage. The foreign race was unable to withstand them, resulting in massive casualties.

The portable Black Gold Cannons had an even larger impact area, capable of obliterating their defensive formations and instantly turning the foreign race into ashes with a single blow.

After testing the cannon, Ye Liuyun ordered the new equipment to be concealed to avoid drawing the Foreign races’ attention.

Using his Divine Soul, Ye Liuyun captured a foreign race squad leader to gather intelligence on the origins of this foreign race army.

From it, Ye Liuyun learnt that this foreign race force was newly formed. Most of their ninth-level experts had already been deployed to the main foreign race battlefields.

The remaining experts, primarily at the sixth, seventh, and eighth levels, were regrouped and reorganized, awaiting further advancement before joining the main battlefield.

Currently, there were thirty thousand soldiers in this foreign race base, with similar numbers stationed at two other higher-level battlefields.

Two hundred thousand warriors were aboard the foreign race’s warship vessel they were on. Doubled on Ye Liuyun’s estimation. Additionally, around fifty thousand of their lower-level soldiers were deployed to the lower-level foreign race battlefield.

The warship they traveled on was kept by the blue-scaled commander. Upon his death, it was taken by Ye Liuyun’s clone as a trophy.

The blue-scaled commander turned out to be the deputy commander of this army and was also a skilled strategist. It was his misfortune to have met with Ye Liuyun in a battle.

After extracting the information, Ye Liuyun swiftly executed the foreign race squad leader with a single strike and commanded his troops to eradicate the invading foreign race.

He then informed Yu Xiaofeng to send reinforcements to all foreign race battlefields, aiming to intercept and eliminate these foreign races’ soldiers on the training grounds.

Ye Liuyun’s clone discovered the warship in the deputy commander’s Interspatial Ring, along with numerous spare parts, accessories, and Alora crystals. He handed all of it over to Tong Xin to aid in his research on warship construction.

Inside the Interspatial Ring were also various foreign race equipment, weapons, and cultivation resources. Ye Liuyun planned to give it all to Tong Xin and Qiong Qi to develop more effective countermeasures against the foreign races.

Ye Liuyun and his clone would take a backseat in the subsequent battle, concentrating on training and protecting the ladies.

The Beastman started the gruelling process of clearing the battlefield once the battle was over. They collected the bodies for a mass cremation after they extracted the virtuosos.

The once fertile land was now dyed crimson with blood.

Having seen the entire battle from a distance, the martial practitioners who fled earlier finally realised the army’s overwhelming power.

"Twenty thousand of those foreign race were completely annihilated? Not a single one escaped! Just imagine the amount of resources that could be gained from that!"

"No wonder Overlord Ye was able to conquer the world. His army is indeed formidable!"

"You know nothing! The Beastman troop isn’t even half as powerful as the Dark Legion. When Overlord Ye was establishing the Revival Dynasty, he didn’t even have to deploy them."

"But still, the individual strength of these Beastman is nothing to scoff at!"

"We are not that weak either! Yet, facing against them, we stood no chance!"

They chatted to one another from a distance, too afraid to approach and uncertain of the danger level.

They had learnt the hard way. When faced with such an enormous power, they must never behave irresponsibly. The army would be merciless, and Ye Liuyun would tolerate their stupidity. The army’s formation was not to be disrupted in any way.

It wasn’t until Ye Liuyun had finished with the aftermath work of the battle and recalled his soldiers into the Spatial World that they dared to greet him.

Ye Liuyun quickly exchanged greetings with them before elaborating on the significance of formation to prevent confusion during the clash of armies. Then, he hurried back to the Revival Dynasty and handed over the foreign race’s space war vessel and weapons to Tong Xin and Qiong Qi so they could study them.

In addition, he sent five thousand martial practitioners with levels ranging from basic to intermediate to ninth level to bolster the forces on the foreign race’s battleground. He instructed them to relay the message that he had gathered to Li Yuanlang.

Subsequently, Ye Liuyun entrusted the organisation of the foreign race battlefield to Yu Xiaofeng.

If he were to return to the foreign race battlefield, he would have to alter his appearance and bring along his trusted companions so they could practise fighting in actual combat and no longer deploy the Beastmen.

After this first trial run, he had already learned about their tremendous potency. Hence, there was no need for him to further deplete their strength. He chose to provide the combat opportunity to the reserve forces he had been training under Yu Xiaofeng.

To put the new gear through its trial, Yuan Hao led the remaining ten thousand ninth-level martial practitioners into battle against the foreign races. He gave the troops a chance to test out the combat potential of these gadgets before retreating them from the battleground.

As the major forces engaged, the martial practitioners would tactically withdraw from the battlefield, which had devolved into an arduous tug-of-war and served as a training ground for both factions.

With similar numbers of casualties on both sides, the outcome was roughly equal.

When the core soldiers from both sides took their break from the war, the smaller soldiers would continue the battle in their stand.
