Chapter 2024: Chapter 2024 An Empty Field
The guards who stood before Shui Hengfeng exchanged glances. They realised that about seven or eight of them had been missing. But they weren’t sure if the missing ones had been left behind or killed by Ye Liuyun.
"A bunch of m*ron! You’d better pray that nothing goes wrong with the medicinal herb field, or else I’ll skin all of you alive!"
"They have archers. When we dispersed, I saw someone being shot and fell to the ground. His crossbow must be some sort of power item. We didn’t dare to stay within their shooting range," one of the guards explained.
He witnessed someone being shot and fell, but he couldn’t see the shooting archer.
"Get back there right now! I’ll get more people over immediately," Shui Hengfeng ordered as he went to check the manpower.
The most dangerous were outsiders, who weren’t familiar with the power of the Shui family.
People who were aware of the Shui family’s influence would never dare act recklessly. But for people like Ye Liuyun who had sought refuge here, they wouldn’t care that much.
He was worried that Ye Liuyun would steal their medicinal herbs and hide them, making it impossible for him to find them.
The guards ran back to the medicinal herb field without delay.
When Ye Liuyun’s clone saw the guards leave, he quickly notified Ye Liuyun for him to gather his team members.
Despite their large numbers, they were unable to complete the crop. There was still some of the field left unharvested.
But for the priceless medicinal herbs planted in the centre, Ye Liuyun had already moved them into his Spatial World, without missing a single one.
He promptly gathered all of them. and, along with Lei Ming, Scorch, Blue Serpentine, and MoMa, continued to harvest the herbs as fast as they could, gathering as much as possible.
When the guards returned, Ye Liuyun and the others were harvesting the last patch of land.
The guards were stunned by the scene before them. Their mouths agape as they stood at a distance watching Ye Liuyun and his teammates.
Shortly after those guards departed, Shui Hengfeng summoned some martial practitioners and stormed out from their compound.
The clone reviewed each of them and noticed that most of the people on Shui Bingyue’s list were present, except one overseer in command of a different compound.
"We’re still short of one overseer!" The clone reported to Ye Liuyun.
After Ye Liuyun harvested the last piece of the medicinal herbs field, the vast field had turned into an empty field.
They did not linger any longer, they hastily turned around to leave.
The guards who tried to surround Ye Liuyun were all shot by his Golden Bow. Hence, they could only watch Ye Liuyun from afar.
Shortly, Shui Hengfeng arrived and saw that the medicinal herb field had been harvested. He let out a sorrowful scream and nearly fell on the spot from dismay.
A guard reported to him of the direction Ye Liuyun had taken.
"Chase them down! Kill all of them. Don’t spare any of them. I want their bones crushed into dust!"
Shui Hengfeng roared ferociously, leading the team into an aggressive pursuit.
When he saw Ye Liuyun from afar, he came to his senses and ordered his subordinates, "Don’t kill them yet! Capture them alive, including that beast!"
He wanted to bring them back as captives to explain to his clan. With such a major incident, he needed a scapegoat to blame. If they were killed, he would have no case to testify, and his words would naturally be less credible.
If he failed to handle it properly, it might affect his position in the clan. He had worked so hard to reach his position today, and couldn’t let his future ruin because of an impulse.
While he chased after Ye Liuyun, he was also rummaging through his brain on how should he report this matter to his clan. He needed to see how many medicinal herbs he could retrieve and how much medicinal herb field he could restore.
He could see that Ye Liuyun and others had scraped away almost everything including the soil. Losses were inevitable, but he could probably restore the majority.
Ye Liuyun wasn’t moving fast, so he caught up to him rather easily.
"Our Shui family’s medicinal herb fields had been robbed, and you think you can escape just like that?" Shui Hengfeng spoke hatefully as he glared at Ye Liuyun and his companions.
"We aren’t even running! If we wanted to flee, do you believe you’d be able to catch up with us?" Lei Ming responded nonchalantly.
"Great, you’ve got guts!"
Shui Hengfeng didn’t feel like talking to them any longer and wanted to just beat them up to let off some steam.
Without saying anything further, he punched Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun confronted him full-on, taking in the punch.
The punch sent Ye Liuyun flying with a loud bang with both his arms fractured.
"A senior martial practitioner of the intermediate seventh level. His strength is rather formidable," Ye Liuyun thought to himself as he coughed up blood some blood.
"Daddy!" Blue Serpentine rushed over with Scorch to check on him.
"What is so great about your Shui family? You bully others just because there are many of you? You people extorted us first, and now you’re beating us?"
Lei Ming exclaimed as he checked on Ye Liuyun.
Shui Hengfeng resentfully stated, "Bah! If it weren’t for the fact that you are still useful, I would peel you alive and grind your bones to dust."
He did not anticipate Ye Liuyun would go down that easily. He was irritated and had nowhere to vent his rage. It wouldn’t look good on him if he intervened when there were only women and children around.
"Roar!"
MoMa let out a growl as it crouched on the ground. Seemingly ready to launch a defensive attack.
"Your beast has caused all this trouble!"
Shui Hengfeng struck MoMa. However, he used less force, afraid that he might accidentally kill it.
Suddenly, four martial practitioners were approaching them hastily from a distance. One of them threw a punch, blocking Shui Hengfeng’s attack.
"I can’t stand bullies who use their power to oppress the weak!" The burly man who took in the attack shouted out loud.
They moved swiftly. In the blink of an eye, they had arrived near, defending Ye Liuyun in a formation.
Shui Hengfeng started to worry upon seeing their action. The guards were in the advanced seventh level.
On their side, they had only one martial practitioner of the advanced seventh level. It was apparent to him that the opponents were much more powerful.
Immediately he changed his attitude and cupped his fist as he said to them, "Respected seniors, I am Shui Hengfeng, a servant of the Shui family. They come with ill intentions as they had just plundered the Shui family medicinal herb field..."
"Shui Family? Are they famous?" One of the burly men asked another martial practitioner, bluntly interrupting Shui Hengfeng.
"I don’t know!" The other martial practitioner ignored him and went on to examine Ye Liuyun’s wounds.
By now, Shui Hengfeng would have been furious if it were anybody else. But he had to put up with it since they were too strong for him to fight against. He was concerned that they, like Ye Liuyun, were oblivious to the Shui family’s background.
"Is that you, Brother Jin?" Ye Liuyun called out as he feigned surprise. In actuality, it was one of his subordinates, Jin Hui.
Jin Hui nodded as he focused on examining the wounds. He then reassured Ye Liuyun, "You’re fine. It’s just some minor fracture on your arms. It’ll be all right after some rest. Don’t worry, no one can hurt you when I’m around."
Jin Hui then turned to ask Lei Ming, "Young lady, what happened here?"
