Ye Liuyun appeared to be struggling with Lei Ming but in actuality, he was discreetly poisoning them.
At this time, Scorch, who had stopped her illusion spell, stepped back to Ye Liuyun’s side.
The guards returned to their senses as their captain ordered them to take action. The four martial practitioners of the advanced fifth level were instructed to grab Ye Liuyun and Lei Ming.
Ye Liuyun and Lei Ming who were still arguing, claimed that they would cooperate with the guards and didn’t want to fight.
However, what they saw next was shocking. The four martial practitioners fell to the ground one after the other. Their bodies turned black, and eventually melted into a pool of crud, clearly an indication of being poisoned.
"Poison!" Suddenly, a guard yelled out. The rest of the guards backed away so they wouldn’t be polluted by the poison.
"Humph! Don’t think you cannot intimidate us just because we are refugees." Smugly, Lei Ming stated.
"How dare you kill the guards of the Shui Family!" the captain shouted, as he launched at Lei Ming.
Lei Ming, Ye Liuyun and Scorch simultaneously counterattacked, taking on the captain.
Lei Ming, at the primary stage of the Sixth Level, was a level below the captain. But with Ye Liuyun and Scorch attacking together, they managed to hold up the fight.
"What are you all waiting for? Attack!" the captain berated the rest of the guards.
"Attack! Attack!"
The crowd immediately shouted in unison, wanting to take action. Although they were yelling attack, only a few of them truly stepped up.
After experiencing Scorch’s illusion spell, they saw the captain as a sly and despicable person, plummeting his credibility among them.
"Roar!"
MoMa roared as it blocked several martial practitioners who charged at them.
"Don’t strike my dad!" Blue Serpentine yelled out, raising an ice wall and separating the guards.
As an intermediate fifth-level cultivator, Blue Serpentine’s ice wall couldn’t be damaged by these guards.
Moreover, this was what they wished for. They hoped their Captain would be beaten up because they believed that the Captain was the one who started the conflict with extortion and deserved the punishment.
However, they did not expect that the Captain would be easily taken out by Ye Liuyun and his group.
Just as Blue Serpentine released the ice wall and blocked the others, Ye Liuyun immediately launched a Divine Soul attack. Through soul searching, he learnt the appearances and characteristics of the people on the list given to him by Shui Bingyue. Only after that, he consumed the Captain’s Divine soul.
Scorch lashed out her whip, smashing the Captain’s head and igniting his body with the flames from the whip.
"Ah! The Captain is dead!"
"Run! They are too strong, we cannot fight them!"
"Return and report to the family!"
All of the guards shouted one after another, promptly turning around to flee. To prevent Ye Liuyun and the others from catching up, they scattered and fled in different directions.
However, Ye Liuyun and his company were not interested in chasing after them.
Ye Liuyun glanced at the Captain’s corpse as he uttered, "My apologies!"
"How was my act?" Lei Ming sought affirmation from Ye Liuyun.
"Not bad! Now hurry up and gather the medicinal herbs!"
Ye Liuyun praised Lei Ming and then released everyone from Spatial World, enlisting their help to harvest the medicinal herbs.
Regardless of plant species or grade, they scraped away every last of them, including the soil.
Ye Liuyun meanwhile, splited his Divine Souls to monitor the fleeing guards. If he saw any guard trying to approach, he would slay them from a distance with his Golden Bow.
He then headed straight for the centre of the medicinal herb field where a small garden shielded by a formation was located there. It homed a variety of high-grade precious medicinal herbs.
Upon arriving, Ye Liuyun found the formation puzzling and could not break it. So, he summoned Jinhui and Ning Fei to forcefully shatter it.
They were martial practitioners at the intermediate-eight level. Together, they destroyed the formation with one punch. They then hurriedly retreated, waiting for another opportunity to re-enter the fight.
Ye Liuyun, with a wave of his hand, moved all these precious medicinal herbs into his Spatial World.
The Moonflower Sisters and Lan Xin also got busy, aiding in the planting of the herbs. Yuer, who had previous experience in planting herbs, joined in to help.
The escaped guards had reached the Shui family’s posting centre here, and they instantly reported the incident.
"It’s a disaster! Someone has destroyed the medicinal herbs field and killed our team captain!"
“What?” The manager had not expected that someone would dare lay hands on the Shui family’s properties.
The manager in charge here was a young man, slightly older than Shui Bingyue. He was Shui Bingyue’s step-brother, Shui Hengfeng.
"What happened? Tell me in detail!"
Shui Hengfeng placed down his cup of tea, urging the guards to clarify. He had not expected Ye Liuyun would dare harvest all the medicinal herbs in the field of the Shui family. Otherwise, he would have summoned the higher-level family guards to retaliate.
Just as the guard began recounting the events, more of the escaped guards had returned.
Ye Liuyun’s clone was constantly using Divine Sense to monitor those guards. Other than a few of them who went back to assess the situation, had been shot to death, the rest of the martial practitioners returned to the Shui family’s residence.
He was watching the Shui family’s residence from a distance. The Shui family didn’t appear to have any martial practitioners who exceeded the eighth level, and their spiritual powers were not as strong as his. If he noticed any movement from the Shui family, he would instantly inform Ye Liuyun to gather everyone from the Spatial World.
Ye Liuyun and the others were still busy at this moment. The medicinal herb field was too large for them to gather everything in a short amount of time.
Shui Hengfeng had just heard from the guards that the captain was negotiating with Ye Liuyun earlier. He then discovered that the guard had summarized most of the contents of the conversation. Noticing the unusual expressions on others’ faces, he realized that the guard hadn’t been fully truthful to him.
After the guard finished speaking, He surmised that Ye Liuyun and his company were somewhat powerful. He then instructed his people to gather the Shui family’s experts before he turned to the guards for more questions.
"You said that the people who destroyed the medicinal herb field were polite, then how did a fight start?"
"This..." The man hesitated, unsure whether he should reveal the truth or not.
Earlier, some of the guards would supplement additional details to it, but now none of them spoke.
Shui Hengfeng snorted coldly, "Not willing to tell the truth? It seems like it’s time to wipe out this batch of disloyal guards!"
"I dare not!" The guard immediately blurted out after the warning, "It was the captain who extorted them, and they fought back! I’ve spoken the truth, kindly investigate!"
Shui Hengfeng furrowed his brows at his explanation. He wasn’t familiar with the ordinary guards, but he knew of the captain’s character. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have appointed him as the captain.
Then he once again questioned the other guards for more details. Surprisingly, all the guards’ statements were consistent.
"That’s odd! They claimed the same thing. And judging from their expressions, it doesn’t seem like they’re lying! Had I misjudged him?" Shui Hengfeng began doubting himself.
However, without a witness to confirm this, he could only deal with this matter based on this information.
"In which direction did those people head in?" Shui Hengfeng asked.
"They were still at the medicinal herb field when we left," a guard nervously replied.
"So, none of you who stayed behind to keep an eye on them?" Shui Hengfeng asked, perplexed.
"Well... the situation was chaotic at the time, and we weren’t their match, so we scattered away..."
