Using his Divine Sense, Ye Liuyun probed the area and discovered that it was poorly guarded, with no guards on duty. But Ye Liuyun figured that no one would dare cause trouble here.
The guards were either cultivating or chatting at their quarters. The scent of aromatic medicine plants was refreshing and calming for the mind. It made the cultivation much stronger compared to other places.
"The show is about to begin.!"
Upon Ye Liuyun’s instruction, MoMa darted into the herb field and started feasting on it while gathering the plants into his Interspatial Ring. As he was at it, scraps of herbs smeared all over his face.
Just like Ye Liuyun, he did not even spare the soil while collecting the medicinal herbs.
Soon, a major portion of the medicinal herbs in the field was depleted.
The guards, who were initially chatting in their quarters, were alerted by the formation’s warning and were taken aback.
"Did someone with a death wish come here?"
"Who would dare to steal herbs from us? I’ve been here for years and have never encountered such a thing. Maybe some locals accidentally stumbled upon the formation!"
The guards were usually lazy, some of them didn’t even bother to check with their Divine Sense.
Still, a few guards dutifully went to check on it.
"Look how worried you are! It’s most likely a false alarm!" A nearby guard mockingly sneered.
"Oh no! It’s a feral beast. Not only is it eating, it’s also collecting tons of medicinal herbs!"
The guard who went to check got a huge shock upon seeing MoMa and relayed the situation to the others.
"Haha, stop joking! That trick will only work on a child!" Some started to create a commotion, thinking he was deliberately joking.
"It’s true!" The martial practitioner exclaimed anxiously, as he rushed out of the room and sounded the alarm.
"Is someone playing a prank?"
"Could it be real?"
Seeing his serious reaction, the other guards used their Divine Sense to inspect the field. Instantly after that, everyone jumped out of the room and rushed towards MoMa.
While running, they tried to call out to stop MoMa.
Moma planned to flee, but he found that the martial practitioners who arrived first were only at the intermediate or advanced fourth level. Hence, he continued to gather the medicinal herbs into his Interspatial Ring while watching them warily.
"This sordid beast!" One of the guards noticed that MoMa simply did not fear them, which provoked his anger further.
But their levels were inferior to MoMa. Hence they didn’t dare to approach directly but tried to encircle MoMa, trying to distract his attention by yelling.
There were more than thirty guards in the medicinal herb field, with only one team captain in the intermediate sixth level. The more powerful guards of this medicinal herb base lived inside a cabin further away.
The captain jumped out of the cultivation room as he summoned all the martial practitioners and rallied them to catch MoMa.
It was only then that MoMa started to flee.
At this moment, Ye Liuyun, Scorch, Lei Ming, and Blue Serpentine showed up.
"MoMa, MoMa....." They called as they rushed towards the medicinal herb base.
MoMa too headed straight in their direction, leading all the guards away.
Blue Serpentine when she saw MoMa and MoMa promptly hid behind Ye Liuyun and the others.
Ye Liuyun and his friends were quickly surrounded by the guards. The captain then summoned all the guards over.
"What are you doing?" Lei Ming stepped out with her hands forking her waist, reprimanding the guards.
MoMa was ducking behind them, looking guilty and innocent. As if a child feared punishment.
Blue Serpentine feigned a perplexed look and inquired what happened as she leaned on MoMa’s back.
"Where were you? How did you bring back so many people? Have you caused trouble again?"
While speaking, she kept petting on MoMa’s head.
MoMa bowed his head and whined as he begged for mercy.
Ye Liuyun, on the other hand, was cheerfully greeting the guards with a bow. Using Phantom Illusion, he appeared to them as an ordinary person with plain attire.
Lei Ming had also shed her armour and was dressed normally like a middle-class individual, with nothing to indicate her status.
The only person who didn’t appear to fit in with Ye Liuyun and the others was Scorch, who donned ostentatious, flirty, and exposing clothing.
After examining them closely, the captain turned to Ye Liuyun and said, "Your pet stole our herbs. You have to come with us for punishment."
"Oh?" Ye Liuyun turned around and pretended to chastise Blue Serpentine after hearing this. "You insisted on letting it roam even after I told you to leash it. Look what trouble it caused us now!"
But Lei Ming scoffed at the captain, "Wasn’t it just some herbs? We can pay for them! Just name your price."
The captain pointed at the adjacent herbal base as he scornfully retorted, "Don’t you see? So many herbs were destroyed in the field. Do you think the damage can be fixed by compensation only?"
"You didn’t even bother to ask to whom this base belongs? Pay up? I am afraid you will not be able to afford it!"
Lei Ming pretended to be surprised at the hideous sight of the medicinal field: "There’s so much of it!"
At this moment, Scorch was already using her Illusion spells to influence those guards, making them believe their captain was trying to extort Ye Liuyun, demanding them to hand over thirty million Spirit Crystals.
As for Ye Liuyun and his companions, they appeared accommodating, willing to return with the captain to negotiate. However, their captain seemed more interested in getting the money directly.
This left the guards feeling puzzled.
"So, Captain is such a person! His normal daily behaviour never clue us in!"
There were only the captain and four other martial practitioners of the advanced fifth level, whom she didn’t try to influence with her spell, fearing that they would notice.
"Whose medicinal field is this?" Scorch continued to chat to him, buying time.
The captain glanced at Scorch. After he noticed her striking figure and appearance, his tone sounded somewhat faltering. "This is the Shui family’s medicinal base!"
"Huh? Shui family? Which Shui family?" Scorch feigned confusion.
"You’ve never heard of the Shui family? Where are you from?"
The captain had already thought that they didn’t look like locals. Hence, he believed that they didn’t know that this was the Shui family’s medicinal field. But he was surprised that they had never even heard of the Shui family.
"We’re immigrants from the eastern border. There’s a war there now, and we have just fled here. We’re unfamiliar with the environment yet, so please forgive our insensibility!" Ye Liuyun explained.
"I see!" The captain nodded, explaining to Scorch. "The Shui family is a major power in the east, and no one dares to offend them. If you’re not from the eastern land, you might not be familiar with the affairs."
He thought that if they hadn’t heard of the Shui family, they couldn’t be from any major family. It would be in vain to explain too much with them.
Although Scorch was gorgeous and had beautiful eyes, this situation was too significant for him to mess up, so he refused to slack.
He didn’t want to waste more time, so he told Ye Liuyun and the others, "You must come with us. We’ll decide what to do when we get instructions from our clan."
"Why should we go with you? Who knows what tricks you’re playing!" Lei Ming once contested firmly.
"Hmph! You don’t get to choose to come with us or not. Arrest them,"
the captain commanded his subordinates.
"Oh dear, why resort to violence when we can talk it out?" Scorch stepped in to mediate.
But the four martial practitioners of the intermediate fifth level behind him stepped forward.
