Chapter 1894: Chapter 1894 Battle Between Feral Beasts
Zhao Mingcheng cursed Ye Liuyun for breaking the crossbow as he grew increasingly anxious.
If she could use the crossbow, it would certainly give a longer range than the spear.
A hissing sound grabbed Zhao Mingcheng’s attention. Upon closer inspection, she noticed a massive anaconda had already crawled its way to the base of the tree.
"Ahh!"
She gave a startled scream.
Her scream not only woke up Ye Liuyun but also startled the giant Anaconda at the foot of the tree.
Ye Liuyun rolled over to look and immediately saw the Anaconda.
"Get ready to launch the spear and ensure the blow is deadly!" With composure, Ye Liuyun instructed Zhao Mingcheng.
Zhao Mingcheng steadied herself, aiming the spear at the Anaconda.
Ye Liuyun also aided Zhao Mingcheng, in suppressing the Anaconda with the power of heaven and earth, immobilizing it temporarily.
Zhao Mingcheng seized the moment to drive her spear into the Anaconda’s head, nailing it to the ground.
In an apparent effort to drag the spear down, the Anaconda’s tail twisted around it. Unfortunately, it was unable to free its head from the spear and clung tenaciously to it.
"Wait for it to die thoroughly before retrieving the spear. You don’t have to hurry!" Ye Liuyun informed Zhao Mingcheng.
Before Zhao Mingcheng could respond, they heard a bear’s growl. The roar seemed to be directed at them.
"D*mn, your scream just now attracted other predators. You move up a little more, let me get down there!" As he said it, Ye Liuyun switched places with Zhao Mingcheng and drew nearer to the ground.
"Stop making noises for the time being!" Zhao Mingcheng was reminded by Ye Liuyun.
"Ok!" Zhao Mingcheng responded softly and stayed on top, even afraid to breathe loudly.
When Ye Liuyun heard a rumbling sound, he assumed the arrogant bear was no small fry.
As predicted, an arrogant bear with a huffing and puffing sound pounced from the bushes. It was five or six times the size of a martial practitioner.
As soon as it emerged, it saw the giant Anaconda on the ground. It roared and sprang up, slapping on the Anaconda’s head.
It slammed its paw down with a deafening roar, smashing the python’s head cleanly, but the spear had cut its claws.
It shook its paw, to flung the spear away. Then it pounced again, pounded the spear twice, and stepped on it to vent its anger.
Then it rushed towards the Anaconda and devoured it.
Ye Liuyun and Zhao Mingcheng watched the scene unfold before them in silence.
"Woo!"
Not far away, wolves howl pierced through the dark night.
"Roar!"
The arrogant bear was not timid and roared to warn the wolf pack not to approach.
But there were more than twenty wolves in the enormous wolf pack. Regardless of the warning roar from the arrogant bear, they approached and surrounded them.
Even Zhao Mingcheng noticed that more than twenty pairs of glowing green eyes were surrounding them in the shadows.
Seeing the situation, the arrogant bear tossed the Anaconda’s carcass aside and roared at the pack of wolves.
At this moment, the Wolf King stepped forward, took a look at the arrogant bear, and then raised its head to glance at the person in the tree.
It considered the risk and concluded it was worth taking a chance, so it gnashed its teeth menacingly and gave the bear a growl, as though to intimidate it.
The stubborn arrogant bear, who was plainly reluctant to back down, smashed its paws into the ground and caused the earth to tremble.
“Roar!”
The Wolf King let out a low growl, and a few wolves advanced from different directions, launching an attack on the arrogant bear.
Despite its massive appearance, the arrogant bear’s movement was swift. It started by warding off the wolves with its paws before sprinting out and giving one of them a single-handed smack. Subsequently, it charged into the pack of wolves, rampaging around.
The arrogant bear then abruptly changed direction, frightening the other wolves by sending the two wolves that charged at him from behind skyward with a single smack. Then it turned around and went after the Wolf King again.
The Wolf King continued to back down out of fear of a confrontation, which gave the other members of the pack time to ambush the arrogant bear from behind.
When the wolves behind the bear got close, the arrogant bear dropped down and sat on the wolves, almost squashing them dead.
Then it struck another wolf soaring into the air with a backswing of its hand.
Still, other wolves pounced, some jumping onto its back to strike, and others sprang forward to bite its shoulders and hind legs.
The wolves yelled in agony as the bear rolled on the ground, crushing them under its weight. Then it spun around and swung away the wolves that sank their tooth into him, knocking dozens of them in the process.
Wolves that had been hit by his paw never managed to stand up again.
Now fully enraged, the Wolf King roared and gnashed its fangs at the arrogant bear as it reorganised the pack for yet another attack.
The arrogant bear’s energy was depleted after another fight round. Its body was covered in bite wounds. It moved backwards slowly, hunching its back against a big tree in an attempt to defend itself from more assaults.
At this point, only twelve wolves were left standing. Even so, they could see that the arrogant bear was stumbling and was determined not to let it go.
The arrogant bear made several attempts to flee, but each time it was cornered.
The arrogant bear was compelled to flail its claws in reaction as the wolves circled it, feigning attack as though they were about to lunge and bite. This caused the bear to use up more energy, further depleting its power.
The bear began to pant more loudly and forcefully. It hardly had the strength to swing its claws, and it only sometimes made up movements with its paw in an attempt to frighten the wolves away.
"Growl!"
The Wolf King let out another growl to signalled his pack for another attack.
The arrogant bear began to bite the wolves that came near him in turn since it was too exhausted to fight back.
Because of the arrogant bear’s sturdy pelt and massive build, a wolf biting its throat wouldn’t kill or topple it. Rather, with one swipe, the arrogant bear could gut the wolf.
Nevertheless, the wolf persisted till it died.
Considering it an annoyance, the bear gave it a strong jerk, ripping off a portion of its own skin in the process.
Just then, the bear was knocked off balance by two more wolves, one of whom was tugging at a forelimb and the other at a hind. Two more wolves approached and quickly bit into its back and front legs, pulling vehemently in different directions.
Simultaneously, another wolf began tearing at the bear’s rear and stomach.
"Roar!" The arrogant bear let out a desperate cry as it struggled with all its remaining strength.
Seizing the opportunity, the Wolf King dashed towards the arrogant bear, targeting its wounded neck.
"Now’s the time!"
At the very moment the Wolf King pounced, Ye Liuyun launched himself forward and aimed his sword at the wolf’s throat.
He watched the bear and wolves fight the entire time, waiting for the arrogant bear to run out of energy and the Wolf King to strike.
The arrogant bear’s torn neck revealed its weak point. If Ye Liuyun were to change places, he would attack the same spot. The other wolves were merely attempting to distract the bear.
Ye Liuyun had guessed right. The Wolf King indeed targeted the arrogant bear’s neck, which was its weakest spot. Ye Liuyun slayed the Wolf King at the same time it lunged at the arrogant bear, and killed it.
After having a long exhausting fight with the arrogant bear, the wolves had long forgotten about Ye Liuyun’s presence.
Even the Wolf King did not expect that with eight wolves remaining, Ye Liuyun would dare to launch his attack.
So, just at the moment it bit through the bear’s windpipe, its neck was fully exposed under Ye Liuyun’s blade. With one swift strike, Ye Liuyun sliced it open and cut through its neck. The wolf’s jaws remained tightly clamped around the bear’s neck as its decapitated body collapsed to the ground.
