Chapter 1891: Chapter 1891 Sneak Attack at Night
Zhao Mingcheng instinctively nodded, then realised that Ye Liuyun might not be able to see her nod.
Just as she was about to speak, Ye Liuyun said, "Okay, come with me!"
Of course, Ye Liuyun was able to see her nodding. He immediately took her hand and led her forward.
But they did not walk far before Ye Liuyun’s Golden Phantom Eyes suddenly spotted traps, bear traps as well as self-made ropes and bells on the ground. As long as they make contact, those traps would make a sound.
Ye Liuyun quickly informed Zhao Mingcheng, "Don’t move. I’ll carry you over there. If you go by yourself, I’m afraid you’ll touch the ropes."
"Oh!" Zhao Mingcheng gave a soft reply, with her face tinted pink.
For his part, Ye Liuyun did not think much and just carried Zhao Mingcheng in his arms and carefully stepped over the traps and ropes.
"So heavy!" Ye Liuyun complained inwardly.
After a great deal of effort to cross the traps, Ye Liuyun’s arms were already sore.
After he put Zhao Mingcheng down, he took a breather.
At this point, they were only about forty to fifty steps away from the ruined temple and no one dared to speak.
After recovering, Ye Liuyun took Zhao Mingcheng’s hand and started slowly moving forward again, almost pausing after every step.
They were so near that they could hear the talking voices of the man and the woman inside of the ruined temple.
When they were about twenty steps away, Zhao Mingcheng could see more clearly, roughly seeing the person’s head and chest position.
Ye Liuyun held the shield he had been carrying on his back, lightly nudging Zhao Mingcheng with his shoulder, signaling her to take action anytime.
Zhao Mingcheng also took out her bow and arrow, trying to get as close as possible to the martial practitioner.
With a ’whoosh’, the wooden arrow was shot out, the sound of it was louder than that of ordinary arrows.
Then, there was a soft ’bang.’
The wooden arrow actually shot straight through the throat of the martial practitioner and into the wall behind him, pinning him there.
"So accurate!" Ye Liuyun exclaimed in his heart.
Then, Zhao Mingcheng discarded the bow, picked up the spear, took Ye Liuyun’s shield, and charged toward where the martial practitioner was.
"Wood!" The martial practitioner inside the ruined temple called out to the one outside after hearing the noise. Seeing that no one answered, the two of them immediately took up their weapons guardedly.
Ye Liuyun also moved closer to the big tree nearest to the temple door, ready to make his move.
"I’ll go take a look. Cover me!" said the blade cultivator, standing behind the temple door with his blade.
The woman, on the other side, took her crossbow and walked to the broken window, aiming the crossbow outside and searching for the enemy’s figure.
At this time, the blade cultivator also opened the temple door and charged out.
As soon as he walked out of the temple, he looked in the direction of the martial practitioner. At this moment, Zhao Mingcheng was squatting next to the corpse, shielding herself with the shield.
Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun decisively used the power of heaven and earth and then thrust his spear at him.
The woman also spotted Ye Liuyun, but by the time she aimed at him, Ye Liuyun was already locked in a battle with the blade cultivator. She was afraid of accidentally injuring her partner and dared not shoot randomly.
It was then that Zhao Mingcheng suddenly sprung up and charged into the temple.
The blade cultivator also reminded the woman.
"Watch out!"
"Ah!"
Upon the woman’s turning her head, she saw Zhao Mingcheng charging in and cried out in surprise. She quickly shot a crossbow bolt, which Zhao Mingcheng blocked with her shield.
A crossbow bolt stuck on the shield, yet Zhao Mingcheng did not slow down, thrusting her spear straight at the woman’s throat.
"Ah!"
The woman screamed again and tried to block the spear with her crossbow, only to be knocked away by one thrust from Zhao Mingcheng.
Worried about the woman, the blade cultivator fiercely slashed twice at Ye Liuyun and spun around, intending to dash into the temple. However, this was the opportunity Ye Liuyun was waiting for.
Taking advantage of the two steps he had retreated earlier, he twisted his wrist into a throwing pose, aggressively hurling the spear towards the blade cultivator’s back. Simultaneously, his left hand reached backward, pulling the broken sword out while running toward the blade cultivator.
The spear whooshed and thrust towards the blade cultivator’s back.
The martial practitioner could only fend it off with his blade. However, Ye Liuyun’s strength was immense, and the spear was heavy. It still grazed his shoulder, leaving a cut.
At that moment, Ye Liuyun dashed upon the martial practitioner, as if wanted to embrace him. Then, he pierced the broken sword into the martial practitioner’s chest.
"Ah!"
The martial practitioner cried out, managing to shake Ye Liuyun off. Yet, his heavy blade also cut across Ye Liuyun’s front.
But, thanks to his armour made of Anaconda’s skin, Ye Liuyun remained unscathed. Instead of retreating, he advanced, swinging the broken sword again at the blade cultivator’s neck.
At this moment, the martial practitioner also waved his blade, slashing into Ye Liuyun’s back and bifurcating his armour, leaving a visible cut on his body.
Ye Liuyun stumbled forward a few steps, tumbling down near the temple’s entrance.
The wound from the blade wasn’t too serious due to the protection from the Anaconda’s scale armour, and he stood up immediately.
The blade cultivator, clutching his neck, fell to the ground.
Ye Liuyun rushed over swiftly, seized the blade in his hand, and charged into the temple.
By this time, Zhao Mingcheng had stabbed the woman in the throat with her spear and was standing there holding a crossbow. Seeing someone barging in, she pointed her crossbow in response, relaxing only when she recognised Ye Liuyun.
"Are you aiming that at me?" Ye Liuyun saw her relaxed demeanor, seemingly not intent on shooting him, but he remained tense.
"What’d you do if I’m gonna shoot you now?" Zhao Mingcheng asked with a smile.
"Then one of us is gonna die!" Ye Liuyun answered gravely.
"Ugh, how dull!" Zhao Mingcheng sighed, and discarded her crossbow aside, not wanting Ye Liuyun to misunderstand.
Seeing her throw away the crossbow, Ye Liuyun finally let his guard down.
He then walked over and picked up the crossbow.
The crossbow bolts were metal-tipped. There were only five bolts, but their intimidating power was superior compared to his bow and arrow.
Subsequently, Ye Liuyun went outside to retrieve the weapons. Finally, he also returned Zhao Mingcheng’s spear to her.
After that, he and Zhao Mingcheng dragged the two bodies inside, keeping away their Interspatial Rings and the Elixirs they had acquired.
"How many Elixirs does he have?" Zhao Mingcheng asked Ye Liuyun. Judging by how full and heavy the bag containing Elixirs was, she knew it was a considerable amount.
"You don’t need to know!" Ye Liuyun didn’t tell her. He didn’t have time to check either.
"Come with me to get the beast meat, in case it attracts any feral beasts."
Zhao Mingcheng picked up the spear and followed Ye Liuyun. Ye Liuyun, on the other hand, was carrying a knife on his back, holding a crossbow in one hand, and pulling Zhao Mingcheng with the other as they rushed towards the dense forest, where they hid their stash of meat.
By this time, the ominous roars of feral beasts were incessant outside.
As soon as night fell in this area, the feral beasts became exceptionally active.
After running with Zhao Mingcheng for a while, Ye Liuyun suddenly stopped next to a large tree.
"Stand still!" Ye Liuyun instructed Zhao Mingcheng.
Both of them hid behind the tree, standing still while Ye Liuyun poked his head out to look into the darkness ahead.
Subsequently, he raised his crossbow and aimed at the front.
Zhao Mingcheng, on the other hand, was hiding quietly behind the tree, holding her breath. She could even hear the heavy panting of the feral beasts.
