Chapter 1890: Chapter 1890 Make His Own Equipment

Ye Liuyun then tossed his bow and arrows aside and began to craft a shield.

"Your bow, it works okay?" asked Zhao Mingcheng as she watched Ye Liuyun work.

"It’s made of wood so it’s not heavy enough. The arrow will drift slightly. Well, it’s just enough to scare people, not precise enough!" said Ye Liuyun.

He was not an expert in archery. Without the tracking feature, nine out of his ten arrows would miss the target. These wooden arrows were even less accurate.

"I know how to use a bow and arrow. If you’re okay with it, how bout I try?" Zhao Mingcheng tentatively asked.

"Wait for me to finish the shield and armour first." Ye Liuyun definitely wouldn’t let her use the bow and arrows now, it would be too dangerous.

Zhao Mingcheng pouted at his words and asked, "Am I so untrustworthy?"

Ye Liuyun chuckled and calmly replied, "If I think you’re dangerous, I won’t hesitate to kill you."

"Alas!" Zhao Mingcheng sighed, not bothering to give any explanations as she knew it was pointless. Ye Liuyun being cautious toward her was expected.

"Get some sleep. I’ll stay up and keep watch tonight. I’ll sleep in the daytime tomorrow," Ye Liuyun said to Zhao Mingcheng.

"Okay! I did feel sleepy after eating! I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time, either!" Zhao Mingcheng responded and leaned against the mountain wall. Gradually, she drifted off.

Ye Liuyun just let her be. After finishing the shield, he placed it by the fire and started to cut Anaconda’s skin and draw out its tendon.

Given his limited resources, he had to keep things simple and just do what he could.

Ye Liuyun only lightly burnt the snake’s skin over the fire to remove the flesh on it. Then, he used his long spear to poke holes in it and used the snake tendons as ropes. After that, he crafted two sets of chest, back, and shoulder armour, followed by two sets of leg and armguards, which was basically a full set of armour.

Although the scales of Anaconda weren’t very high quality, they were enough to ward off arrows and crossbows.

Ye Liuyun roasted the leftover Anaconda meat and previously collected beast meat to a medium-rare, then packed them into his large bag. What couldn’t fit would be saved for breakfast the next morning.

When darkness fell, the howling of wild beasts outside woke Zhao Mingcheng.

"Shh! Stay quiet. They won’t dare to come in! Go back to sleep!" Ye Liuyun, wielding his long spear and guarding the cave entrance, reassured Zhao Mingcheng.

These feral beasts were also attracted by the smell of Anaconda’s blood.

However, the hole entrance was obstructed by vines and stones, coupled with the smoke and the glow of fire coming out from inside, the feral beasts left after looking around.

Yet, Anaconda’s head which Ye Liuyun had discarded was taken away by these feral beasts.

Although Ye Liuyun didn’t seem too worried, he stayed up all night vigilantly. He even swallowed an Elixir and started cultivating while paying attention to the surroundings all the time.

Once dawn came, Zhao Mingcheng woke up, appearing exceptionally refreshed.

"I haven’t slept this well in a long time! Thanks for keeping watch all night!" Zhao Mingcheng didn’t forget to thank Ye Liuyun.

Ye Liuyun promptly offered her another Elixir, saying, "Eat it right away. After finishing, roast the leftover snake meat and then go out to guard the cave. I needa get some sleep."

Zhao Mingcheng accepted the Elixir and asked, "Can I save it and not eat it?"

"No! If you don’t eat it now, there’ll be none left for later!" Ye Liuyun exclaimed decisively.

"Alright then!" With no other option, Zhao Mingcheng swallowed the Elixir.

Ye Liuyun heated the meat that couldn’t fit into the bag again on the fire and shared it with Zhao Mingcheng.

After that, he gave Zhao Mingcheng a set of armour and urged her to go outside the cave to guard.

"Not afraid of me running away anymore?" Zhao Mingcheng asked.

"That’s the best-case scenario! As long as you don’t enter the cave!" Ye Liuyun laughed and replied.

With that, Ye Liuyun laid down to rest, using his quiver as a pillow.

Zhao Mingcheng glanced at her armour and the wooden spear in her hand, thought about the beast meat and Elixir that Ye Liuyun had, and firmly said, "Nope, I ain’t gonna leave!"

Following that, she sat behind the vines, watching through its gaps.

After a morning’s rest, Ye Liuyun was revitalized and continued on the journey with Zhao Mingcheng.

As they walked, Ye Liuyun practiced throwing his long spear, acquainting himself with the spear’s weight and his own strength. Meanwhile, Zhao Mingcheng, carrying a bag full of beast meat, followed Ye Liuyun with labored breaths.

"Past this forest, there’s a broken temple in front. That’s where the blade cultivator resides. That fella has a nickname called Blade Warrior. He’s got a partner, it’s a woman who favours a crossbow," Zhao Mingcheng informed Ye Liuyun.

Through the forest, Ye Liuyun’s Golden Phantom Eyes looked ahead, and corrected Zhao Mingcheng, "There are not two, but three people! There’s one more martial practitioner, he’s sleeping outside the temple!"

"Huh? Another one?" Zhao Mingcheng was taken aback as well.

"Follow me," Ye Liuyun then led Zhao Mingcheng away, avoiding the area from a distance and entering the dense woods.

Ye Liuyun took out another Elixir and swallowed it. Afterward, he had Zhao Mingcheng climb a tree with the bag of meat on her back and hang it on the tree, trying to prevent it from being stolen by other people or feral beasts. Ye Liuyun kept only Elixirs on himself.

After Zhao Mingcheng climbed down, he tossed her another Elixir. Seeing her swallow the Elixir, only then did he hand her the bow and arrows for practice.

"If you can kill the martial practitioner outside the temple with a single shot, we’ll have a better chance of defeating them," Ye Liuyun spoke. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"I’ll practice first!" Zhao Mingcheng replied uncertainly and went off to hone her skill.

After a while, she returned and told Ye Liuyun, "I can only guarantee to shoot him dead within twenty steps. If it’s any further, the wooden arrow’s not strong enough!"

Ye Liuyun thought for a moment before saying, "Then let’s rest first and attack at night!"

"But we can’t see anything at night! And we might encounter feral beasts!" Zhao Mingcheng added.

"It’s fine, there’ll be light over there at night. Don’t worry bout the beasts, leave it all to me!"

As he spoke, he put away his bow and arrows. Then, he and Zhao Mingcheng each climbed up a big tree. Both of them slowly fell asleep after finding a comfortable position.

When the sky began getting dark, they only started moving towards the ruined temple. By the time they came close to the ruined temple, it was already completely dark.

Zhao Mingcheng was fretting about how she could aim at the target in pitch black when suddenly, the temple lit up. It turned out they also needed to light a fire for illumination at night.

With this fire, even the outside of the temple lit up, projecting the silhouette of the martial practitioner outside.

Ye Liuyun quietly whispered into Zhao Mingcheng’s ear, "I can see the way so I’ll lead you. Remember, lift your feet high and try not to make a noise.

Once you kill the martial practitioner outside, rush to his position. I presume the Blade Warrior will charge out, and that woman will surely hide inside, shooting crossbows through the gaps in the ruined temple.

Once Blade Warrior rushes out, I’ll stop him, and you can run in with your shield and kill that woman. Understand?"

In fact, the most suitable plan would be for Ye Liuyun to rush in and kill that woman, while Zhao Mingcheng uses her bow and arrow to hold off the blade cultivator. However, Ye Liuyun had to arrange things this way as he was wary of Zhao Mingcheng possibly turning on him.

At this moment, Zhao Mingcheng was flushed from Ye Liuyun’s breath close to her ear, but luckily, it was so dark that Ye Liuyun couldn’t see.
