Chapter 1889: Chapter 1889 Deal With the Anaconda
Zhao Mingcheng walked forward to cut the vines with fear and trepidation.
Ye Liuyun, on the other side, tiptoed to the entrance of Anaconda’s hole with his spear aimed down into it.
It was only then did Zhao Mingcheng noticed the hole under Ye Liuyun’s feet.
"He’s really got it in him!" excitement surged within Zhao Mingcheng.
In this case, she figured that she might as well bask in the benefits. Although she was currently Ye Liuyun’s servant, it was just temporary. At least he had no ill intentions toward her, making it much safer than partnering with others.
"Well, servant, so what?! I’ll just be a tad bit tired!" Zhao Mingcheng actually found relief in accepting this.
As she started cutting the vine with her short sword, the rustling sound alerted Anaconda.
Anaconda, with its tongue stuck out, immediately slithered out once it sensed the scent of prey outside the hole.
Right as it poked its head out, Ye Liuyun pierced his spear through its brain, nailing it to the ground.
Ye Liuyun was also pushing against the cliff with his feet, laying his entire weight onto the spear.
Anaconda, usually tremendous in strength, was unable to resist even though it wanted to. Its body was all within a not-so-spacious hole, and the head was pinned to the ground.
It could only wiggle its body continuously, slapping the cave to gain some leverage, causing the cave to echo with thumping sounds.
Hearing the sounds, Zhao Mingcheng hurriedly rushed over. Seeing Anaconda already nailed to the ground, with its mouth unable to open wide, she dashed over with her short sword and started chopping off Anaconda’s head.
Ye Liuyun was also cautiously watching for any sneak attacks from Zhao Mingcheng. As soon as Zhao Mingcheng successfully decapitated Anaconda, Ye Liuyun flicked his spear, sending Anaconda’s head flying into the cluster of vines, not wanting it.
He needed to keep his spear ready should Zhao Mingcheng decide to attack.
Seeing this, Zhao Mingcheng laughed and asked Ye Liuyun, "Why so nervous? Afraid that I might ambush you?"
"Just go do your thing. I’ll drag the Anaconda body out," Ye Liuyun replied, ignoring her.
No matter what she said, one must always be wary of others. Ye Liuyun would always be on guard against her.
"Fine!" Zhao Mingcheng understood that staying too close to Ye Liuyun would arouse his wariness, so she backed off and continued to cut the vines.
"Stay away from Anaconda’s head. It’s not entirely dead yet!" Ye Liuyun warned her, then began to drag Anaconda by its spine.
After dragging it a certain distance, he paused to catch his breath before continuing.
The body of Anaconda was huge. With his genuine energy drained out, Ye Liuyun found it challenging to drag it out.
Moreover, Ye Liuyun didn’t dare to drag it all out at once, lest Anaconda wasn’t entirely dead and would entangle him with its body.
After dragging it halfway, Ye Liuyun stopped.
By now, Zhao Mingcheng had also cut down plenty of vines. But the vines were thick and hard, and she had no idea how to weave them into a shield.
"This thing doesn’t look light!" Zhao Mingcheng commented.
Ye Liuyun glanced at the vines she had chopped down, finding that she had already cut many.
"Use your knife to cut the vine into thumb-width thin strips, then pass me the knife," Ye Liuyun instructed.
"Why? Afraid I’ll kill you?" Zhao Mingcheng asked in confusion.
"What?! I just need that knife to slice Anaconda’s meat. I needa make a bow and a sword too!" Ye Liuyun explained.
"Oh, okay!" Zhao Mingcheng responded before starting to chop the vines into thin strips.
Ye Liuyun watched her from a distance. When she cut enough, he said, "That’s enough, no need to cut anymore. Give me your knife and go find water. Soak those vines in the water for a while. Bring them back once they’re soft!"
"These are enough? Why didn’t you say so earlier? I chopped a lot!" Zhao Mingcheng complained.
"It’s good exercise though!" Ye Liuyun laughed.
"Hmph, you’re just afraid I’m gonna sneak up on you!" Zhao Mingcheng said, throwing the short sword to Ye Liuyun. Then, she carried the bundle of vines on her back and went to find a stream to soak them in.
Seeing her leaving, Ye Liuyun was much relieved. He immediately used the sword to chop Anaconda’s body into sections, each as long as an arrow.
Then he pulled out Anaconda’s sinew and went to find a tree trunk After shaving the tree trunk into the shape of a bow, he tied the sinew onto it.
Once all this work was done, Ye Liuyun was exhausted.
But he didn’t dare to rest, as danger could strike at any time in the wilderness. Luckily, the entrance of Anaconda’s cave was very hidden, and he could observe the situation outside through the thick vines with his Golden Phantom Eyes.
He then whittled a dozen more wooden arrows before he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Next, he began to test the bow. Though they didn’t go far or hit accurately, it was enough to deter enemies.
Subsequently, he pulled out more Anaconda’s sinew, cut a piece of its skin, and made a quiver. Once he equipped himself with the bow and arrows, he finally allowed himself to relax completely.
Not long after, he sat on the ground and began to whittle the vine to crumbs with the sword. Then, he moved all the unwanted vines that Zhao Mingcheng had cut off into the cave and also picked up a lot of branches.
After working all day, the sky gradually began to get dark.
Through his Golden Phantom Eyes also spotted Zhao Mingcheng walking back hunched over a large bundle of vines on her back.
"The vines are so heavy after they’re soaked!" Zhao Mingcheng complained to Ye Liuyun.
As her words fell, she noticed the bow and arrows Ye Liuyun was carrying on his back.
"Oh, you’re done? It looks pretty good!" Zhao Mingcheng exclaimed.
Ye Liuyun did not respond, but told her, "We’re gonna stay in this cave tonight. Meat roast will be our dinner. You move these things in first."
"Huh? You’re really treating me like a servant! We’re staying here tonight? You’re not gonna go get back the sword?" asked Zhao Mingcheng.
"I’ll make armour out of Anaconda’s skin, then only go snatch the knife! Let’s get into the cave, it’s getting dark!" Ye Liuyun signaled and entered the cave first, leaving Zhao Mingcheng to move the big pack of snake meat into the cave.
With no other option, Zhao Mingcheng grumbled while moving, and only after that, Ye Liuyun pulled over some vines and big rocks to simply cover up the cave entrance.
"This cave smells so bad!" With her hand covering her nose, she told Ye Liuyun.
Indeed, the smell inside the cave was quite unpleasant.
Ye Liuyun, however, just said, "Bear with it. It’s better than being chased by feral beasts outside!"
As he spoke, he started a fire by rubbing wood together and then ignited the vine scraps.
"I’m surprised you have such skills!" Zhao Mingcheng praised him.
"Huh? How did you start a fire previously then?" Ye Liuyun also asked in return.
"I’ve never done that! I was afraid it’d attract people. Not many people dare to make a fire in this secret realm!" Zhao Mingcheng sighed.
"What did you use to eat?" Ye Liuyun was somewhat shocked.
At this, Zhao Mingcheng could only sigh helplessly, "I eat everything raw. Having something to eat is good enough! It’s pretty hard to swallow at first, but beggars can’t be choosers. I was too hungry!"
Ye Liuyun didn’t say anything, thinking that Lei Ming and Dragon Lady should have no problem eating their food raw. Probably Ye Tiandao could adapt as well. Well, he wasn’t really worried about their eating problem.
Ye Liuyun then put the snake meat on the fire and started roasting it.
However, they didn’t have any seasoning and could only make do with filling their stomach.
"Oh, my! It’s been a while since I’ve had a roast! It’s so yummy!" Zhao Mingcheng ate so much that she started burping. Once she filled her stomach, she leaned against the cave wall, not wanting to move at all.
