Chapter 1852: Chapter 1852 Uninterested
Ye Liuyun finally got a full view of the God Realm. This map was a treasure, and he couldn’t even find it in the Mystique Mart.
As Ye Liuyun eagerly examined the map, Prince Liang spoke, "Let’s get back to talking about your engagement."
Reluctantly, Ye Liuyun set the map aside and responded, "Your Highness, to be honest, I already have several wives..."
Prince Liang chuckled, "Do you think I care about that? In the Martial Arts Dao world, women are often pawns in the power struggles of major forces. Xiu is no exception".
"I’m betting on your future, not your present. I don’t care how you treat her or how many women you marry. Our alliance gives us a reason to join forces in the future."
Ye Liuyun was once again taken aback.
Prince Liang was already thinking so far ahead. Ye Liuyun realized he couldn’t refuse. Rejecting He Lianxiu meant rejecting any cooperation with Prince Liang.
Since it had come to this, Ye Liuyun had no choice but to agree.
"Alright, you can discuss the conscription details with He Linfeng. Nobody knows about my devil cultivation. My son will attend your engagement party on my behalf. If you need anything, have Xiu contact me."
"Understood." Ye Liuyun replied before leaving the conference hall.
"Ugh, there’s no way around it. I have to go through He Lianxiu to reach Prince Liang. He insists I keep her with me and ensure her safety, or I’ll lose all contact with him.
Ye Liuyun left and quickly understood what Prince Liang was getting at.
Realizing Prince Liang’s intentions, Ye Liuyun kept his emotions in check under Prince Liang’s watchful eye. He headed to the praetorian camp to get personnel from He Linfeng.
This time, apart from Pei Yong and his group, Ye Liuyun picked the highest-ranking volunteer soldiers.
He picked over twenty thousand soldiers and asked He Linfeng for a warship to send them to Yu Xiaofeng for further training and selection.
After that, he returned to his place to reflect on what Prince Liang had told him and his goals.
As for the engagement, Ye Liuyun figured there was no avoiding it, so he decided not to dwell on it.
"Clearing the border and training the troops before attacking the south seems doable, but I’m not sure if others will get involved. We’ll need a lot of resources, too."
Ye Liuyun thought as he examined a map, looking for the nearest border point to Regalty.
"A direct assault on the city might work, but holding it afterward will be tough..."
As he was deep in thought, there was a sudden knock on the door.
He opened it to find He Lianxiu and two maidservants standing outside.
“What brings you here?” Ye Liuyun asked with surprise.
"Um, what do you like to eat at the engagement party?" He Lianxiu blushed and asked.
"What?" Ye Liuyun glanced at her instinctively.
"It’s not like an engagement party is about the food. She must be making conversation." He thought.
"Come on in and have a seat!" Ye Liuyun felt chatting at the doorway award, so he invited her into the room.
"I don’t have any refreshments here. Sorry about that," Ye Liuyun apologized politely.
Fortunately, his room had chairs, or He Lianxiu wouldn’t even have a place to sit.
"It’s fine. I’ll have someone set up the room and bring in some furniture later," He Lianxiu offered immediately.
"That’s not necessary. Once the engagement party is over, I’m heading back to Regalty. I won’t be staying here long," Ye Liuyun replied.
"What? You’re leaving so soon?" He Lianxiu had thought Ye Liuyun would stick around for a while, giving them time to bond.
"Yeah, and you’re coming with me!" Ye Liuyun continued.
Since Prince Liang had made the arrangements,Ye Liuyun intended to take He Lianxiu with him. Coming back for her later would be a waste of time.
"Huh?" He Lianxiu was visibly flustered.
"I’m not ready for this! I thought we were barely getting engaged..." She stammered.
"I don’t have time to come back for you! Once we return, I might have to prepare for deployment right away," Ye Liuyun said, leaving her no room for negotiation.
"Let me convince my father to delay your deployment!" He Lianxiu said hurriedly.
Ye Liuyun ignored her, knowing it wouldn’t help. Instead, he asked, "Did you need something?"
"Not really, I just wanted to see you and chat a bit," He Lianxiu said shyly, fiddling with her clothes.
"Oh. Well, go ahead," Ye Liuyun replied, his lack of conversational skills showing.
"You..." He Lianxiu was bewildered by his words.
"Is he really this bad at conversation? If I go with him, will we live together? What should I do?" She was in turmoil, not knowing what to say next.
She had come for a casual chat, but now they were sitting silently and staring at each other, making the situation even more awkward.
"Okay, you seem busy. I’ll go." He Lianxiu finally said, unable to bear the awkwardness any longer.
"Alright, then!"
Ye Liuyun didn’t even try to persuade her to stay.
He had zero interest in He Lianxiu and didn’t care about her feelings. After sending her off, he continued to study the map, carefully examining the markings along the borders.
"Seems like there are quite a few Devil Clan members in the south. I wonder if any other foreign races are hiding among them." Several spots on the map indicated locations of Devil Clan members and Devil Beasts.
Ye Liuyun used his spiritual energy to create a sand table, simulate troop movements, calculate travel times, and estimate the consumption of resources and manpower.
Meanwhile, his clone had already begun refining fourth-grade elixirs inside the Xuankong Stone. He planned to stock up on a large supply of medicinal ingredients before leaving if the refinement was successful.
He needed to purchase weapon-refining materials in bulk as well.
"We’re still short on resources!" Ye Liuyun concluded. He realized he couldn’t deploy troops immediately. Without adequate resources, they’d run into supply issues on the border, and retreat would be a huge waste of time.
Ye Liuyun spent the entire night marking key locations on the map. At dawn, he headed straight to the Mystique Mart.
After returning, He Lianxiu went to see Prince Liang. However, the outcome was as Ye Liuyun had anticipated.
Prince Liang scolded her, "Why are you interfering in his matters? Once you’re engaged, you belong to him and should follow his lead. Do whatever he asks. I know the engagement is barely official, but I won’t cancel it unless he dies in battle!"
"But he doesn’t seem to like me. He barely talks to me!" He Lianxiu complained.
"Then figure out a way to make him like you! You’re about to get married, so stop behaving like a child. He’s got a lot on his plate, and if you’re not helping him and just pestering him with small talk, it’s no wonder he doesn’t like you!"
Prince Liang lectured He Lianxiu before sending her away.
