Chapter 1832: Chapter 1831: Reconstructing the Rules
"Why does my neck feel sore since this morning?"
He Ao set down the cup of coffee and looked at the two boys chatting beside him.
The slender girl held her neck and continued, "Did I sleep wrong?"
"You probably played on your phone too much." The boy glanced at the girl and laughed.
"You’re the one playing too much on your phone," the girl shot a white-eyed glance at the boy, clenched her hand into a fist, and tapped her neck.
"Let me give you a massage," the boy walked over and pressed on the girl’s shoulder, applying some force.
"Ah—hiss—" the girl took a sharp breath, "You’re pressing so hard, have you always been displeased with me?"
"Haha, without enough force, it won’t be effective." The boy smiled and pressed his fingers down, eased his strength a bit, and began to knead. While kneading, he sighed, "Why does my neck hurt too?"
"You just have an itch from seeing someone else with a sore neck." The girl rolled her eyes.
"Number 062, your iced Americano and cappuccino are ready." Called the name from the counter.
"Alright, alright," the girl grabbed the boy’s hand, "I’ll go get the coffee, I’ll give you a massage when I come back."
"Then I’ll wait," the boy laughed cheekily, sat back down in the chair, raised his hand, and rubbed his neck.
The girl then got up and walked toward the counter.
"How long has your neck been hurting?" He Ao held the coffee and walked over to the boy, sitting across from him.
The boy looked up at He Ao, slightly stunned, and naturally answered, "I don’t know, it started hurting a bit since I got off the night shift, and it’s worse this morning. Maybe it’s from sitting too long, bending my head for too long."
"Alright, thank you." He Ao nodded slightly, took a sip of his coffee, and slowly left the coffee shop.
The girl passed him by and then walked across to the boy, curiously asking, "Was that your friend just now? How come I’ve never heard you mention him?"
"Is...maybe?" The boy scratched his head and looked back.
The somewhat slender figure had already disappeared outside the door, nowhere to be found.
He withdrew his gaze and smiled, "Forget him, let’s drink coffee first."
"Indeed." The girl placed the coffee on the table and walked behind the boy.
"Are you really going to give me a massage?" The boy asked in surprise.
"Of course," the girl pressed her hand on the boy’s shoulder, "you’ve been rubbing your neck since you came back last night, I learned massage at school, be careful, my strength might be a bit much, it might hurt."
"With your small frame, how much strength can you have," the boy laughed heartily, "Use all your strength—ah—hiss—"
"Did it hurt?" The girl leaned over, looking at the boy whose muscles were tense and teeth clenched, and laughed as she asked.
"Not hurting," the boy gritted his teeth, "didn’t you have breakfast? No strength—ah—pain pain pain—are you taking revenge on me—"
······
Amid the distant cries of pain, He Ao stood at the entrance of the coffee shop, walking among the bustling crowds.
Beep beep beep—
The sharp sound of car horns rang out on the street.
Beidu is one of the most bustling cities on Central Earth, it’s the morning rush hour, with bustling crowds and jam-packed vehicles everywhere.
Among the crowd, quite a few people were rubbing their necks, including some drivers, who were also slightly massaging their shoulders and necks.
However, compared to the entire crowd, this was only a minority.
He Ao did not know if this was a coincidence or a collective situation here in Beidu. He lifted his hand, took a sip of coffee, and slowly walked into the crowd.
Old-style car horn sounds rang out in the void.
——
Antarctica
The vast snowstorm buried the mountains.
He Ao’s body held the leaf in his hand, emerging from the illusion, he opened his eyes and looked around at the snowstorm, then looked down at the leaf in his hand, deeply inhaling.
"So that’s how it is."
A slight smile curved at the corner of his mouth, the surroundings gradually became illusory, and then transformed again, morphing into a vast forest under warm sunlight.
When this forest scene completely solidified, He Ao’s body slightly trembled, then quickly turned transparent.
In his field of view, dense rays of light began to appear, enveloping his body, placing him within a giant structure built of light.
He Ao looked down, his gaze quickly swept across the surrounding rays, across the continuous streams of light, across the massive rift that spanned the entire glow.
He lifted his hand to touch one faint white beam of light among them.
The beam of light was different from the others, its length only half that of the others, with the other half seemingly destroyed by some formless force, completely vanished.
And along with He Ao’s touch, dense knowledge flooded into He Ao’s mind.
This wasn’t He Ao’s first time contacting this beam of light; when the knowledge flooded his mind, his brain quickly deconstructed the knowledge.
The knowledge was about life, but it was fragmented, only partially there, like a book lacking its beginning and end, with only the middle pages.
Even the middle part was incomplete and interspersed with missing pages.
Initially understanding and memorizing it took a lot of effort from He Ao, and he kept venturing into the Main World to seek similar rules and knowledge, barely managing to comprehend it.
In this process, he discovered that the ’rules’ of the Main World and the Martial Arts World were fundamentally different.
Though they manifested similar results, similar vitality, the underlying rules of operation were completely different.
Like two different solutions to the same problem, or two different routes to the same city. They both led to the same destination, but the processes were entirely different.
Generally, the ’solution’ in the Main World was more elegant and concise, while the rule structure in the Martial Arts World was more complex and even cumbersome.
The more He Ao understood the Martial Arts World’s rules, the more he was shocked by the crude craftsmanship of the Wizards.
The rules in the Martial Arts World were pieced together haphazardly in some places, and even the creators of these rules seemed not to fully understand how they operated, as long as they functioned.
If the rules of the Main World were like a bird spreading its wings and flying, the rules in the Martial Arts World were like a bird spreading its wings, then its wings spinning like helicopter rotors to fly.
It flies, but it doesn’t completely fly.
The entire world is imbued with a sense of functionality over meticulous design.
Of course, this might relate to the Wizards’ own knowledge and skill limitations.
Not everyone can trace origins, delve into the depths of the world, and ’see’ the concrete world rules.
The more He Ao used the ’Barrier Wood,’ the more he felt that this thing’s ability was a giant ’bug,’ like a hole drilled into the depths of the universe.
Those powerful Transcendents and Mystic Scholars might risk their lives to catch a distant glimpse, while the ’Barrier Wood’ allowed one to view it freely.
He Ao even wondered if the System saw him struggling too much and mercifully gave him an exceedingly powerful prop with no cost.
Of course, this was just a thought.
He Ao held the white radiance in his hand, feeling the cross-section of the radiance, sensing the internal structure of the radiance.
The speed of the radiance was extremely fast, about to escape from his hand in a flash.
At this moment, virtualized Divine Sense covered his palm.
The method from the Skull Giant, or rather from the Grim Reaper, was operating vigorously in his mind.
Simulated arrays rapidly unfolded in his mind, then expanded through the Divine Sense covering his palm.
Accompanied by these complex array structures, the power of Divine Sense slowly infiltrated into the white radiance.
The swiftly departing radiance appeared as if stuck by strong glue, its speed substantially slowed down, eventually coming to a temporary standstill.
He Ao didn’t waste this brief moment of stillness, as he continued to rapidly infuse the power of Divine Sense, and new knowledge emerged in his mind.
This was knowledge related to rules akin to the Main World.
The rules of the Main World and those of the Martial Arts World couldn’t be exactly matched, but to achieve identical effects, some foundational structures were similar, though they could be distributed across different rules.
He Ao searched for a long time before finally finding these similar pieces of knowledge, aided by the understanding endowed by the Secret Wizard, rapidly reconfiguring this knowledge.
In the process of reconfiguring this knowledge, He Ao could clearly feel his mastery of the Secret Wizard’s Talent Sequences intensifying rapidly, with the power of the Secret Wizard’s Talent Sequences demonstrating unprecedented ’activity.’
It was akin to a thirsty traveler encountering rain from the sky.
The power of the Secret Wizard’s Talent Sequences perhaps had never been utilized to its fullest extent like this before.
The outcome slightly exceeded He Ao’s expectations.
Although the Secret Wizard’s position might only reach an Angel, its understanding and comprehension of knowledge had perhaps reached a certain ’symbolic’ degree.
Even such complex world rules knowledge could be swiftly understood, organized, and then combined with He Ao’s original Mysticism Knowledge for reconfiguration.
Under the astonishing understanding, He Ao also quickly established a new plan.
The power of Divine Sense completely enveloped the radiance in his hand, and after a brief pause, faint, invisible, transparent radiance began spreading out along the light.
As the transparent radiance spread, the white radiance enveloped by it slowly sprouted a bud.
He Ao felt a surge of joy, his fingers subtly trembling.
The next instant, the newly emerged bud suddenly vanished, and the white radiance escaped from He Ao’s hand.
He Ao’s body also swiftly plummeted, about to fall into the ’Starry Sky.’
The next instant, He Ao’s consciousness floated up, returning to the Martial Arts World.
Without hesitation, he once again ventured into the depths of the world.
As the surrounding scattered radiance reappeared, he immediately grasped the newly emerged half of the white radiance.
The previous actions were quickly repeated; the white radiance was captured again, and a new sprout was generated within the radiance.
This time, He Ao’s movements had no pause; he grasped the radiance in his hand, generating light points swiftly within the radiance.
The fragmented rules were swiftly being ’repaired’ or rather ’reconstructed,’ at an incredibly fast pace.
Until the missing parts were restored to a third, He Ao felt his consciousness sinking into the Starry Sky before abandoning the repair.
However, as the radiance disappeared, the rules repaired emerged did not vanish simultaneously.
Seeing this, He Ao breathed a sigh of relief, returning to the Martial Arts World once more.
——
Nandu
"Neck pain?" Ye Ying looked up at He Ao before her, rubbing her neck, "I don’t seem to feel that. I’m not sure if my brother feels it."
She looked at He Ao, "Sir, do you have a neck pain too? Even with your current abilities, can you still get neck pain?"
"Not particularly noticeable yet," He Ao rubbed his neck, shaking his head slightly, "Have you seen many people with neck pain? Where are people most gathered in Nandu now?"
"Breakfast shop?" Ye Ying’s eyes lit up as she lifted her gaze towards He Ao, "Have you had breakfast yet, sir? Can I treat you? Have you tried Nandu’s duck blood vermicelli soup? It’s delicious! You can’t find it anywhere else!"
"Huh?" He Ao was slightly taken aback, not expecting such a sudden change in topic from her, "I’ve had breakfast."
"Would you mind having another round? I know a small shop nearby, so delicious," Ye Ying continued.
"I can watch you eat," He Ao chuckled.
When Ye Ying initially followed He Ao to practice martial arts, she was a bit nervous and awkward, but now she was utterly at ease.
Nandu was one of Central Earth’s major cities; upon leaving Beidu, He Ao first thought of coming to Nandu. Originally, he intended to find Ye Ying’s brother, Ye Yun, who is currently head of the Southern Research Institute.
Unexpectedly, he immediately encountered Ye Ying wandering at the Nandu Research Institute’s entrance.
"It’s really tasty; I’ll take you there." Ye Ying turned around, excitedly heading towards an adjacent street.
He Ao shook his head, following his little apprentice’s pace.
After circumventing a small street and proceeding two to three hundred meters past some thick trees, a small shop with only a few tables appeared before him.
Though the shop was small, it was bustling, every table occupied.
"Boss, two baskets of dumplings, two bowls of duck blood vermicelli soup!" Ye Ying excitedly gestured as she entered, calling out loudly.
Then she directly led He Ao to a table where someone was seated, joining the dining customer.
He Ao lifted his head, looking at the customer sitting diagonally opposite him.
It was a middle-aged man around forty or fifty; at that moment, he raised his hand, pressed it against his neck, and soon lowered his head, drinking the duck blood vermicelli soup from the bowl.
A faint fragrance permeated the modestly sized small shop.
"It’s very delicious," Ye Ying seemed a bit hungry, swallowed, and looked at He Ao, "Sir, you must try it!"
——
Martial Arts World
In the world filled with radiance, He Ao held the slender radiance in his hand, watching it restore completely to the same length as the others.
He released his hand, exhaling a long breath before falling to the Starry Sky, a smile curling at his lips, "Success!"
