Chapter 1831: Chapter 1830: The Old Prophecy

[The sky ship docks at the Firmament]

[The omen of apocalypse appears on the earth.]

[Eternal greatness descends from the Starry Sky,]

[The interrupted fate returns to the original starting point.]

He Ao raised his head and gazed at the stele full of intricate patterns in his field of view, focusing on the text inscribed on it.

This isn’t the stele he destroyed previously; although it looks exactly the same as the original stele, down to the last detail, its representation on the mystical level is different.

This is a ’newly delivered’ stele.

The original stele had been uprooted by He Ao and completely destroyed, so the divine being behind it sent this new stele here.

It seems that the crack established through historical connections hasn’t closed up; it still exists, allowing the divine being to deliver things through it.

This time, He Ao did not destroy the stele but reached out to touch the surface of it.

The surging pollution poured into the body of his clone, and then followed the connection of his soul into his soul, where it was resolved.

The text on the stele stood quietly, without any changes appearing.

He Ao focused on the text on the stele, reading those few lines that seemed to be ’prophecy’ messages.

He Ao could understand the first two lines, ’The sky ship docks at the Firmament,’ referring to the Navigator approaching the Main World.

’The omen of apocalypse appears on the earth.’ This might refer to the turmoil caused by He Ao’s promotion to Martial Arts Angel or the catastrophe brought by the Navigator.

But the last two lines are rather obscure, ’Eternal greatness descends from the Starry Sky,’ possibly talking about the divine being behind the Navigator?

The God of Machinery?

If He Ao’s guess is correct, this line speaks of the God of Machinery descending upon the Main World.

Then comes the most cryptic statement, the final sentence of the entire prophecy: ’The interrupted fate returns to the original starting point.’

Interrupted fate suggests there was originally a fate trajectory, which was broken.

’Returning to the starting point’ could mean the interrupted fate is connected again?

If viewing the divine being’s will as fate, then interrupted fate could be understood as broken divine will?

From this perspective, this statement could imply, ’The previously defeated God of Machinery is making a comeback.’

However, how will the God of Machinery make a comeback?

Directly descend from the Starry Sky?

That would indeed impose terrifying pressure on the Main World. With the increase of his own positional grade and power, He Ao increasingly understands how terrifying high positional grade power is, comprehending the gap between divine beings and mortals.

Even if not mentioning divine beings, even usurper gods are extremely terrifying.

In the system’s background story, even a powerful usurper god’s power can shatter the Star Sea and destroy the stars.

A mere thought of Eternal Light can lead a Star River civilization to eventual destruction.

If the God of Machinery’s true form descends upon the Main World, it truly spells world apocalypse.

Currently, He Ao can’t think of any way to protect the Main World in front of the divine being’s true form.

But the God of Machinery, for some reason, has never known the coordinates of the Main World.

Of course, another way to say it is, the Main World’s coordinates are probably hidden in some kind of deep ’sea,’ not just the God of Machinery, but all gods are unaware of the Main World’s exact coordinates.

This includes the divine being who forcibly squeezed the stele into the Main World.

The God of Machinery and his subordinates and servants have always been working to obtain the coordinates of the Main World.

Once coordinates are confirmed, divine beings can directly descend from heaven.

Of course, these plans have basically failed because of He Ao.

Currently, the Main World is still well-hidden, and the divine being’s true form can’t descend, keeping the Main World safe for now.

However, the prophecy’s meaning seems to indicate that in the future some event will occur, leading to the leakage of the Main World’s coordinates, allowing the God of Machinery’s true form to descend.

He Ao stepped back half a step, gazing at the text on the stele before him.

Since the divine being behind the scenes is so actively squeezing the stele into the Main World, it likely means the exposure of the Main World’s coordinates is imminent, otherwise, there wouldn’t be such urgency.

Of course, He Ao also doesn’t think this divine being is kind enough to specially come to warn him.

There must be a purpose behind this, though it hasn’t manifested yet.

An unseen tension spread across He Ao’s heart; it’s not strong, but it seems to be pervasive, leaving He Ao unable to find a specific source.

He Ao carefully sensed this unease, which seems not to have just appeared, but has always been there.

It’s just that he had just returned from the dungeon world, feeling excited, and this unease was very weak, making it hard to feel at that moment.

Where could this constant feeling of unease come from?

He Ao rubbed his temples and did not destroy the stele, but instead turned around and walked toward the area outside the sealed circle.

"Dean He," a young staff member had long been waiting for him outside the circle, and as he approached, quickly moved closer, asking swiftly, "Is there anything that needs to be done?"

"Seal the surrounding area and don’t let anyone in," He Ao gave him a glance and spoke softly, "Even staff are not allowed to enter."

"Yes." The staff member gently adjusted and rubbed his neck, then nodded and quickly responded.

"By the way," He Ao looked at him, "Among our colleagues stationed here, has anyone seen the appearance of the stele? Was anyone present when the stele reappeared?"

"Yes, we have conducted basic pollution checks and found no issues; currently, they are all in isolation," the staff member nodded slightly, "Do you want me to call them over?"

The Research Institute’s handling plan is already quite mature.

"No need," He Ao shook his head slightly, "Have them temporarily not contact outsiders, isolate everyone who has come into contact with them, and according to the Research Institute’s regulations, calculate their salary at three times. It’s hard work for you all."

"It’s not hard, not hard," upon hearing about the salary, the staff member instantly became excited, raised his head, "Ah—"

His neck seemed to twist a bit, and he held his neck awkwardly while smiling at He Ao, "Dean He, I’m fine, I’m fine, just a bit of neck pain."

He Ao raised his hand and pressed on his neck, gently exerting pressure, easing his tense muscles, "No worries, it’s just from bending down for too long."

"Thank you, Dean He," the staff member shook his head and found his neck much lighter. He seemed somewhat surprised that He Ao would personally help him relax his muscles, and quickly said, "Thank you for the trouble, Dean He."

"No problem," He Ao waved his hand and walked towards the open, twisted car door, "Remember to contact me if anything comes up."

With the sound of an old-fashioned whistle, the Velora disappeared into the void.

"Alright, alright," the staff member rubbed his neck and moved it around. He looked up at a young man walking beside him, who was also slightly rubbing his neck, "Dean He asked us to continue isolating this area; we need to put in more effort."

"Okay." The young man nodded slightly, pinched his neck, and quickly left.

"Any discoveries?" He Ao walked into the office, looking at Liu Zhengyun inside.

"The traces of the Navigator have completely vanished," Liu Zhengyun stood in front of a huge poster, raised his head, and looked at He Ao, "Not even debris or fragments have fallen."

"What about the place where Director Li fell?" He Ao walked over and continued to ask.

"Just a big pit, nothing else," Liu Zhengyun shook his head, "He must have hidden again, we don’t know what he’s hiding from – Li is like that sometimes. When facing big events, he always thinks he can solve them alone without communicating with us."

"Or maybe he thinks there’s danger and doesn’t want to involve us." He Ao shook his head and gazed at the poster in front of Liu Zhengyun.

The poster captured images of various starry skies, displaying empty space from different angles.

"These views seem a bit skewed," He Ao gazed at the photos, "It feels like a large area is missing."

"Is it?" Liu Zhengyun lowered his head, glanced at the photos on the poster, "Maybe these photos are biased; I’ll have the aerospace side take more from other angles later."

As he spoke, he turned to look at He Ao, "After the Navigator issue was resolved, I couldn’t reach you. What brought you here again?"

"I feel uneasy," He Ao gently shook his head and said softly, "Can’t pinpoint the reason; my intuition led me here."

"Your unease should be a significant alarm; we can conduct a targeted investigation," Liu Zhengyun’s face darkened. He looked at He Ao, "Can you sense from where the unease is coming?"

"Can’t sense it," He Ao shook his head, "The atmosphere everywhere is filled with unease."

Liu Zhengyun fell silent, rubbed his forehead, "Without a fixed direction, there are too many things to investigate and check."

"A large-scale unease should be due to some extensive influencing factor; maybe we can start from there," He Ao pondered softly.

"Like a natural disaster, typhoon, earthquake, drought, or other similar large-scale atmospheric phenomena?" Li Cheng pondered.

"It shouldn’t be limited to that," He Ao shook his head, "The sense of unease is widespread and strong. I’ve felt it since coming from the desert; if it’s a wide-reaching phenomenon, it must be one with exceptionally large coverage, spanning even half of the world."

"There’s no such phenomenon," Liu Zhengyun sighed, "For such a far-reaching, effective atmospheric phenomenon, it might only be day and night, and even then, only at specific times can an entire area simultaneously be in day or night."

He pondered, "Like the kind of planet-wide disaster a few days ago? Does that count?"

"But on my way here, I didn’t see any disaster," He Ao shook his head.

As a Martial Arts Angel, he would definitely be the first to detect if there was anything abnormal in the world.

That subtle sense of unease didn’t feel like the Main World itself undergoing some change.

"I’ll have people check everything from start to finish," Liu Zhengyun raised his hand, pressing his neck, "Get everyone to report any abnormal situations they notice; perhaps we can find some clues."

"This is the only way," He Ao nodded gently, "I’ll go outside and take a look; maybe I’ll have the luck to bump into something."

"With your current strength, every move can trigger some abnormal changes; maybe you’ll indeed bump into something," Liu Zhengyun nodded, looking at He Ao, and smiled, "Of course, it’s best not to bump into anything."

"Let’s hope so." He Ao also smiled and nodded.

He turned and left the office.

Beidu · On the edge of the city, a breakfast shop

Bright sunlight rose from the edge of the city, covering the entire city in a layer of brilliant gold.

He Ao stood in front of the breakfast shop, watching the busy boss, "One fried dough stick, two buns, and a glass of soy milk."

"Alright," the boss turned with a smile to look at He Ao, "Please wait for a moment; the buns will take two more minutes. I still need to fry the dough stick; it’ll take another two or three minutes."

"Okay." He Ao nodded slightly and glanced at the empty street, standing there quietly.

"Young man, you’re up early for work? You woke up really early, the sun hasn’t even peeped over yet," the boss turned the dough stick, laughing as he continued, "While kneading the dough, he pulled out strips, pressed two strands together with chopsticks, elongated them, and placed them into the oil pot, looking at He Ao and jovially chatting.

"By the way, let me give you the soy milk first." With that, he handed the sealed, slightly warm soy milk to He Ao.

"Not going to work early," He Ao shook his head, smiling softly as he pulled a straw from the nearby bamboo cylinder. "I don’t start work this early."

He inserted the straw into the soy milk cup, noticing the boss’s slightly puzzled expression, and smiled, "Just pulled an all-nighter, haven’t slept all night."

The boss was momentarily taken aback by this, and his hands paused for a moment. Then he sighed with some empathy as he put a new dough stick into the pot, "Young folks like you have it tough, indeed."

"Actually, it’s tough for everyone," He Ao nodded, "I’ve heard opening a breakfast shop also means getting up early."

"Yeah, up at four or five a.m.," the boss nodded, "Sometimes two or three."

He looked at He Ao with a smile, "Don’t be fooled by my small shop; my meat is fresh daily, and the buns are handmade. They’re fluffy; you won’t forget their taste once you try."

"I must try it then," He Ao nodded, smiling, "I’ve loved buns since I was little."

"Promise you’ll be satisfied," the boss flipped the dough sticks in the oil pot, laughingly asked, "Do you want the dough sticks fried longer or shorter?"

"Fry them longer," He Ao nodded, "I want them crunchy."

"Alright," the boss turned away, lifted the steamer lid, releasing steam that rose upwards, revealing the soft, white, plump buns in the morning glow.

The boss picked up a plastic bag and packed two buns, then picked up chopsticks to lift the earliest dough stick from the oil pot, wrapped it in a plastic bag, and handed it to He Ao, "This dough stick is just right; have a safe trip."

He Ao took the buns and the dough stick.

As the buns came out of the steamer, a scattered crowd began to gather.

He Ao raised his hand and took a bite of the dough stick, the crispy exterior breaking in his mouth, blending with the soft doughy interior.

The morning shine fell on his cheeks, coating them with a layer of golden brilliance.

Meanwhile, the busy boss under the morning light rubbed his neck and quickly began picking up buns to sell to the gathering customers ahead.

He Ao took another bite of the dough stick and, bathed in the morning shine, stepped into the crowd under the shine.
