Chapter 5: First Hunt: Just Eat

Draxus’s eyes opened slowly, his body had stopped trembling, he looked round at his surroundings with a calm and still look on his face.

After his short time experience on Rivinea, watching a planet the size of stars get devoured whole he had no more doubts about the system’s words.

’But wait, does that mean I’ll also become that big? That was a huge hydra the size of a solar system! What else could get bigger than that?’

{Not necessarily that big, preferences differ from each other and he simply wanted to evolve in the direction of a creature that big, size and mas isn’t necessarily related to strength, a human the size of an ant to it would still take it down if given sufficient abilities}

’Oh I see, so it all comes down to whatever I choose right?’ Draxus asked, his thoughts swirling towards the numerous possibilities he could probably create.

’Okay.’ Draxus said, pumped up about the system’s resurfacing.

’This is my chance to reshape my life and create a better future for myself. As for the Kastiyans and their issues? Ha, I’ll just leave it for then, it is dumb to fear what I have yet to see and understand, I don’t even get a thing about it why should I care? First thing on the list is to taste this golden fruit from the heavens and suck.. I mean utilize it properly.’

Stretching his body he could feel his body gradually falling under his control albeit at a slower rate compared to when he was in the simulation.

’This passive ability that makes you understand and fully control any body you’re in has to be one of the craziest abilities.’ he said in amazement then turned to the panel, scrolling over to the quests section then tapped on the second main quest.

’Mhmm, okay how do I do this? There’s no instruction for me to follow.’

{It’s simple, just eat, eat anything that has energy and once it’s enough the system will power up instantly, once I’m upgraded to version 1.0 the energy conversion scaling will be upgraded}

Draxus raised his head and glanced around, searching for whatever he could find edible but it was still the same blank forest, filled with trees and no end in sight.

’Uhhh, I’ll just get by around I guess, I’m not really knowledgeable about this forest that much.’ he had transmigrated to this world a few days earlier and didn’t even get to understand what was going on with him properly before his master was murdered, the little he could gather were from the body’s memories and the forest located a few meters away from Blackthorn academy wasn’t included.

The little he could gather however was not really a good piece, the forest was renowned for being one of the major sources of demonic beasts in the Tenebris empire and the Blackwood academy was stationed near it mostly to guard against the occasional irregular rampages from the beasts living in the forest. Most of the time however, the forest would remain in a tranquil and still state with the beasts simply going about their daily lives.

One would ask, why not just kill all the demons in the forest and be done with it? The empire and others had also tried the same but their attempts always proved futile, the beast zone core would be summoned and replenished by the planets core at intervals, this situation made it so that they could never truly eradicate them unless the planets core itself was destroyed but destroying it would mean killing themselves, only a madman would attempt that so they gradually accepted them as a part of their lives.

The rinse and repeat lifestyle of the Dravens, rampage from the demonic beasts, war against them, deaths of millions then another period of peace once again. After a few more centuries the cycle would repeat itself.

’I just hope I’m not in the core zone, I just want to eat a few things and leave, not to get eaten.’ Draxus thought amidst slight trepidation.

He glanced round at the trees, crawling slowly for a few minutes before he saw another sign of life in the forest.

A little rabbit hopped across the grass, it’s robust body drawing Draxus’s attention without fail, it was only at that moment he realized he was hungry and famished, with trails of drool stirring down from his tongue he slowly crawled over without attracting the rabbit’s attention then leapt to catch it.

~~grrr~~

A low beastial growl escaped from his maw, even Draxus couldn’t believe his current actions which were driven by his hunger as he bit into the rabbit and ate it whole within a few minutes.

’I lost control again, why do I always have to follow my instincts?’ Draxus ruminated in silence while watching the little disaster he had caused by his hunt.

’Then why tell me? You could’ve just kept silent and wait till I advance it to 1.0 could you?’

’You are so annoying!’ Draxus grumbled, let out a low growl then walked away, totally forgetting about the incident with the rabbit.
