Chapter 18: The Corruption Source

The five stood round the map depicting different mountain ranges and a straight line drawn from one point of the map to the other.

Isaac pointed at the first point and said "This is Alumera, once a prosperous city of the federation but now it’s in ruins with no life left."

"That’s the name of the city? Alumera?"

"Yes, this is the safe route we mapped out from Alumera to Stormguard city where the main base is located, on normal notes this route was supposed to work perfectly but now the reports are getting twisted."

Draxus’s brows furrowed for a second before he asked "How did you get these reports? Isn’t this the same route you used on your way to Alumera?"

"The satellites orbiting the planet are still active, aside from a few that destabilized due to certain issues the rest are functional therefore we can receive and send signals from them, unstable fluctuations were detected ahead I’m afraid we would have to change routes."

"If we change routes it would take even longer to reach Stormguard?"

"Yes."

"How long?"

"Two days maximum, before sunset tomorrow we should be in Stormguard." Isaac replied, they didn’t have to report the issues to Draxus but as he was the strongest on the crew despite his young age he still reported it.

’If he really isn’t corrupted then maybe we could find a solution to the issues we have right now, he doesn’t look corrupted but we wouldn’t really know until the tide hits.’

---

The next few hours were calm and peaceful, the ten cyber trucks sped across the gravel after leaving the city, the highway was still usable hence they opted to use the highway and devise another route round the initial one.

Draxus took his seat and swiped across the system, checking the new changes ever since he managed to fight off the bombardments against him.

The human race (Anemoi) was created after Orion made a pact with the god of lightning and speed Anemoi, simulating the race of the ancient god to grant him an evolutionary and growth pattern, possesses immense potential and abilities}

"System how do the grades work? Level 26 already? How did that happen?"

{When you awakened your bloodline, the excess energy was enough to push you directly to the E+ grade, levelling up will get even harder from now on though}

{Level 1 to 10 are considered mortal level grades, basically F-}

{Level 10 up to 20 are barely better than F- but they rank up to F+}

{The real power up starts from grade E- where you are able to use elemental abilities, the Anemoi bloodline barely managed to push you into grade E+}

{Ah right, grade E- is from level 20 to 22, E is level 23 to 25, E+ is from 26 to 29}

{Do you understand that now?}

"Alright, alright I understand, so does that mean only those ranking from grade E upwards can use elemental abilities?"

{Yes, the power scaling and definition differs from a place to the other but the general universal grade is from F- up to SSS+ and the sovereign ranks}

Draxus stood from his seat then walked towards the window at the side of the truck, watching the blue clouds swirling up ahead "Four days left then I’ll be back on Andrelia, I wonder what Henry would have to say."

’How about what you have to say to me?’ a voice echoed in his mind, sending shivers through his spine.

’System, what are you doing this time?’

{That’s not me, there’s an intruder}

’Then who?’

’A not so distant friend of yours, you promised to stay with me forever Orion, why are you leaving now? Don’t worry, if it’s the humans luring you over I’ll kill every last one of them and free you from their slavery.’ the voice said then vanished leaving Draxus behind with a puzzled look on his face.

"What bullshit did he just say right now? And what’s going on?"

{We’re in trouble Draxus, huge one} the system said then presented a transparent screen before him, representing a map of their location with the ten cyber trucks traveling along the road.

At the sides was an endless number of red dots rushing towards the convoy from all sides.

"What the heck? Didn’t they say their satellites would give them reports?" Draxus said, rushing towards the compartment where Isaac was giving orders in panic.

"What’s wrong?"

"There’s an unexpected tidal rush targeted at our convoy, estimated time before impact is just twelve minutes, we have no time to prepare or request for aerial backup."

"Didn’t you say your satellites would report any abnormalities?"

"The satellites discovered them the moment they appeared, just a few minutes ago. But nothing before that, it looks like they just appeared out of nowhere without any notice!"
