Chapter 17: Luck Of Realms

Draxus still had no idea how or why an auxiliary member of the Kastiya race would be among normal humans, nor was he aware of what exactly the corruption was but he knew one thing with a hundred percent certainty.

"This. Is. Awesome!" He screamed out with glee while gliding from the peak of one building to the other at such an insane speed those below could barely follow with their bare eyes.

The bunker’s core zone had vehicles and other necessary survival items, foods and equipment for their evacuation, aside from the defensive systems of the inner and outer zones which were severely impaired the other functions were still operating normally.

A total of ten cyber trucks, each over ten meters long filed out on the road, loading over thirty people onto each of them, electromagnetic machine guns were placed atop the cars with soldiers stationed to man them for any sign of threat that could possibly appear.

"Is there even a need for this?" A soldier asked, watching Draxus who was still in Orion’s teenage body leap across the roofs of the building, his voice echoing across the deserted city.

"If anything were to come over I doubt they would ignore him and come over here."

"Won’t this attract unnecessary attention?"

"There’s nothing left in the city, aside from a few minor remnants I guess and they aren’t that useful." The other replied but still remained in his station albeit way more relaxed than before.

The cyber trucks could travel at a speed of over 180 kilometers per hour but its speed was severely impaired because of the heavy load placed on them, even so the speed was still very impressive but Draxus caught up to it and surpassed them easily.

By triggering the power of his bloodline he could increase his speed several times over, becoming nearly as fast as real lightning.

After a few more minutes of leaping round the buildings he returned to the convoy with a wide smile on his face, his body felt light and swift and his speed had increased significantly.

’How fast could I possibly get?’

{You’re still in the process of assimilating with the corruption source in your body, same with your body and soul fusion, you’ll need some time to fully get used to this body and all its abilities. Although once your bloodline talents and affinities increase you could skip all that and gain full control instantly}

Draxus leaped back to one of the trucks where Dave and Bianca were kept, he had given Isaac orders to keep the two safe at all cost or he would be the one to pay the price, Isaac who didn’t want another round of "brain frying process" consented and orders a few soldiers to watch over the two which made Bianca nearly faint in panic.

Draxus walked over to the two then asked "Dave Sandell right?"

"Yes."

"Your parents?"

"They’re dead, died to a mutant from the corruption who happened to be my uncle coming over to visit." Dave replied, making Draxus’s eyebrows scrunch up.

"Your uncle?"

"Yes, he was already corrupted before he came over, no one could react in time and the city was already in chaos. He and the others killed my parents then my elder brother died trying to protect me, I’m the only one left behind."

"How do you know that?" Draxus asked with a light tap.

"Because I was there."

"And you survived?"

"Yes, once the corruption has had enough food or doesn’t feel like hunting anymore it will call all those under its control back. I’ve seen it happen several times, it’s like a timer placed on them." Dave replied with a sad look in his eyes, wondering what it would look like if he had Draxus’s power.

’If only I were as strong as him, I could have saved my father, my mother and my elder brother wouldn’t have to die, he’s barely older than me so why can he control the entire fleet while I can’t even protect myself, if Bianca gets into danger now I can’t even protect her.’ he thought with clenched fists, his veins stretched out visibly.

{He’s awakening}

’Huh? Awakening what? His bloodline?’

{Yes, although I doubt the process would finish before the end of five days but yes he would awaken sooner or later as long as he doesn’t die}

’Tsk, I actually wanted to see what the awakening would look like, and how did he even get it when he was born as a human according to him? Or is there something we’re missing?’

{There’s nothing missing here, he inherited the bloodline from somewhere, although I still can’t figure out where he got it from but yes, the Kastiya bloodline can be inherited, just like how you did}

’Me?’

{Yes of course, who else? The original host of the body died, your spirit was implanted into it from another realm to avoid conflictions and present the facade that the last Descendant is dead, likewise a similar situation might have occurred, especially among the auxiliary members, the bloodline could be transferred directly}

’Oh, makes sense, but why? Why did you pick me among so many realms?’

{I didn’t pick, it was a random wild card selection to pick a random human for this purpose, the probability of getting picked is less than 0.00000000000000001% yet a moron like you was picked, you have the luck of realms behind you!}

’I don’t think so, for someone with such a low luck value, unless you altered it.’

{You probably already used up a lifetime of luck just to get picked so you’re utterly and totally drained, if it weren’t for the system’s luck and the bloodline your luck value would probably be 0 or even negative, I should make some calculations on this sometimes}

Draxus rubbed a palm on his forehead then walked through the truck’s chambers to the drivers compartment.

The truck was extremely huge, as a cyber truck created from the use of electromagnetism it didn’t suffer from the reverse effect of friction and could pass through any terrain at full speed, it’s balance was very stable as well and it had different compartments, ten of them were assigned for the successful evacuation of those trapped back to the main base.

In the driver’s compartment, Isaac and Alex sat to the side making sketches on the map placed in front of them, beside them were three others who were of lower rank than the general.

"What’s wrong?" Draxus asked, then walked over while humming a cheerful tone.

"We have an issue, a very serious one."
